Thomas Tuchel Provides Injury Update

Chelsea news: The Blues will go up against city-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals on Thursday. The game will see manager Antonio Conte return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his departure from the club in 2018. The Italian manager spent two years at Chelsea between 2016 and 2018.

Chelsea news: Blues receive Timo Werner boast

The Blues manager, Thomas Tuchel, confirmed that Timo Werner has returned to full training after recovering from his injury and Covid-19. The German striker is in contention to play against Tottenham Hotspur.

When asked about Werner’s situation, Tuchel said: “Timo trained yesterday. We have one more session to go and he feels much better, which is a really good sign.

He took part in full training, at full intensity, and had no reaction at all. If today’s training goes well for him, then we will look to have him on the bench and maybe give him some minutes.”

The former RB Leipzig striker has struggled to find consistency with his performances this season. He has scored just one goal in nine league appearances so far this campaign. The 25-year-old tested positive for the Coronavirus after the Blues draw against Everton last month. He has been on the sidelines since.

Romelu Lukaku’s recent interview with Sky Sports has heavily affected the club over the past few days. Whether Thomas Tuchel will give him an opportunity to feature against Spurs remains to be seen. Werner’s return in such circumstances is a massive boost for the Blues.

Chelsea could be without defensive duo against Tottenham

Chelsea News: Thomas Tuchel Provides Injury Update

In a press conference earlier today, the German manager said that Christensen has not fully recovered from his injury, whereas Chalobah will surely miss the Tottenham game.

Andreas Christianson is suffering from back pain and missed the Blues’ last league game against Liverpool. The Denmark international has been a vital player for the Blues this season. He made 19 appearances for the Blues this season, scoring one goal.

Meanwhile, Trevoh Chalobah also injured his hamstring during the Blues’ clash against Liverpool on Sunday. Thomas Tuchel replaced him with midfielder Jorginho during the 70th minute of the game.

The England international suffered a similar injury against Watford in December, which resulted in him sitting out three games.

The Blues are already without defenders Ben Chilwell and Reece James. Chilwell is set to be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Meanwhile, James will reportedly sit out for the next two months with a hamstring injury he suffered against Brighton last month.

Tuchel was forced to play attacker Christian Pulisic in a wing-back position in the absence of the duo during recent games.

Defender Andreas Christensen demands a new contract

Chelsea News: Andreas Christensen is demanding for a new contract in order to continue at Chelsea.

Chelsea defender Christensen made a new demand for a substantial wage package to prolong his contract at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have already lost Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi last summer, leaving problems in the central defence.

However, Christensen’s presence aided Thomas Tuchel in putting together a formidable defensive setup week after week.Last season, the Danish international was instrumental in our UEFA Champions League victory.

Chelsea’s star defender Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen, a tall, ball-playing centre-back, joined Chelsea’s Academy as a teenager. He has today progressed to become a valuable member of the senior side. Christensen spent eight years at Brondby before joining Chelsea ahead of a slew of other suitors. He got his first goal in the fourth round at the Valley against Charlton.

Christensen scored his first goal for the club during the 2021/22 Champions League group stage. In a 4-0 home win over Malmo, the Dane shifted his body effectively to volley in a cross from fellow centre-back Thiago Silva and open the scoring early.

He possesses composure on and off the ball, physical strength, aerial ability, and awareness in equal measures. This makes him an all-rounder who has shown himself to be an accomplished full-back and defensive midfielder.

Andreas Christensen is now regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. When called upon, Christensen remains a dependable defender who continues to amaze. With 21 appearances in all competitions this season, the 25-year-old defender’s responsibilities have clearly grown.

Chelsea News: Christensen gathering interest from other clubs as well

The Blues, on the other hand, are still in danger of losing him in the summer if they cannot reach an agreement on a new contract. Christensen is garnering a lot of interest from Bayern Munich.

The German giants are thought to have met with the defender’s entourage last month to express their interest. The Danish star is still considering the options and is searching for a raise. The 25-year-old currently receives a pre-tax weekly wage of €100,000 (£84,000), putting him in the lower echelon of the West London club.

He wants to quadruple his current salary and earn roughly €10 million (£8.4 million) per year.

Is it possible for the Blues to reach an agreement with Andreas Christensen?

We cannot afford to lose two crucial central defenders in the same summer. Especially for free, given the contract standoff between Chelsea and Antonio Rudiger.

As a result, Chelsea should sort out their contracts one by one without any further delay.

Chelsea Transfer News: Andreas Christensen To Barcelona?

Chelsea Transfer News: Andreas Christensen, a Chelsea defender, is allegedly in early negotiations with Barcelona about a possible Bosman transfer in the summer.

Barcelona and Andreas Christensen are reportedly in advanced talks over a potential Bosman transfer during the summer transfer window, according to a report in the Spanish daily SPORT. The Danish defender is expected to depart Chelsea as a free agent soon.

In the two years after returning from a two-year loan stint with Borussia Monchengladbach, Andreas Christensen has progressively established himself as one of the most essential members of the Chelsea first-team group. The 25-year-old has risen through the ranks to become one of Thomas Tuchel’s first-choice players. He has progressed through the ranks under his instruction.

So far in his career, the Danish international has made a total of 148 appearances for Chelsea. 21 of those appearances came during this campaign.

The uncertainty surrounding Christensen’s long-term contract has left Chelsea in a difficult position. He has reached the last six months of his current contract. This has piqued the interest of the representatives of Barcelona.

Barcelona will have to enter the transfer market for a centre-back for the second summer transfer window in a row, according to reports. This is because Eric Garcia has pretended to be someone he is not since joining on a free transfer. In addition, Gerard Pique is nearing the end of his playing career. He should be eased out as soon as possible.

Added to this is the fact that Samuel Umtiti, who was previously considered surplus to needs by Barcelona despite signing a new contract. He has been linked with a move to Newcastle United. He has suffered yet another long-term injury.

Chelsea Transfer News: Will Andreas Christensen move to Barcelona?

Clement Lenglet and Ronald Araujo are the only two established centre-backs available to Xavi Hernandez. Both of them are facing uncertain futures for reasons that are distinct from one another.

As a result, the importance of signing a center-back for Barcelona cannot be overstated. Christensen is emerging as one of their top targets. Moreover, it seems that the Catalan giants have ramped up their attempts to capture the Chelsea defender.

He is having advanced discussions over a potential Bosman transfer during the summer transfer window.

For his part, the Dane is open to the possibility of joining Barcelona after his release from Chelsea. In addition, although the Blues are trying to sign Christensen to a new long-term deal, their prospects of renewing him seem to be dwindling.

As things currently stand, it seems like Christensen is more likely to join Barcelona than he is to remain at Chelsea.

Signing free agents might become more frequent for Chelsea this summer – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea have been heavily linked to signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona today, with various reports now confirming it.

Little plug here, I exclusively reported the story on my website, Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, yesterday. Then there was a further few reports from others such as L’Equipe today confirming my report.

The links have been met with mixed reactions from Chelsea fans, as is always the case. But one thing for sure is that we might need to get used to being linked with signing free agents, and to be honest, I think that’s a good thing.

Dembele could still sign a new contract with his club, but if he doesn’t, getting him for no fee in the summer isn’t a bad idea at all. The only downer would be his high wage demands, which makes this a valid debate.

However, with Chelsea reporting their highest ever financial losses for the year, getting players without having to fork out high fees may well become quite appealing to the club moving forward into the summer transfer window.

We also need to factor in that as it stands, we need to replace three current defenders of our own, with none of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, or Cesar Azpilicueta looking any closer to extending their deals with the club. So we might well need any transfer budget we will have this summer to be invested into our defence.

So then for example, if we want to add any more flair and creativity into our attack as well, we might have to genuinely think about a player such as Dembele if he becomes a free agent. I mean, this is even without mentioning how much Thomas Tuchel likes him and how much he likes Tuchel, having worked together at Dortmund.

But there could be others as well who we might see become genuine Chelsea targets if they become free agents this summer, because it’s not a bad idea at all to add quality to our squad without having to pay a bulk fee to sign them. It may well be a sign of the times right now fresh after a global pandemic.

Chelsea will be just fine financially of course, but yes, it wouldn’t hurt to be searching for a couple of free agents for certain areas when we might need to spend elsewhere this summer.
