Granovskaia delighted over Silva deal, Chelsea to make Digne offer and Dest makes transfer decision in Chelsea roundup…

Chelsea are set for disappointment in their pursuit of Sergino Dest, with the right-back reportedly determined to fight for his future at Barcelona.

The start of the New Year in football signifies the opening of the transfer window and after the past month of struggle for Chelsea, it might be a bit busier than anticipated for Tuchel

The German boss said himself at the start of the month that he was not planning a busy transfer window, but confirmation that Ben Chilwell needs surgery, and will be out until the new year means that he needs to add to that back-line.

There has been a number of players linked with a transfer move to the Bridge, and the latest name to to linked is that of Dest.

The right-sided defender, that can operate on the left, has become a reported target of the Blues as the board know Barcelona need funds in order to buy the quality of player Xavi needs to get the club back to the top of the game.

He is not the big time signing that most fans would like, but with Chilwell coming back in the summer, he is just needed as a short-term solution.

However, However, according to Catalan publication Sport, Dest is not even contemplating a January move as he is convinced he can succeed and become a key player in the second half of the campaign under newly-appointed head coach Xavi.

It’s claimed the Dutch-born American remains fully focussed on overcoming Covid-19 – after testing positive for the virus prior to Barca’s clash with Mallorca – and is intent on putting his persistent back problems behind him.

Losing Chilwell for the rest of the season is a massive blow to this Chelsea squad and Tuchel will know that he will need to make the right transfer calls, or it could scupper his season.

Dest is a high-quality defender that has the versatility to be a real asset to this Chelsea squad, so it is a shame to see that he wants to stay put…for now

Chelse are to submit an offer for Everton star Lucas Digne in the coming days, according to reports

Despite the fact last month Thomas Tuchel admitted that Chelsea would not be doing alot of transfer business during the course of January, a number of injuries has meant that the club will have to delve into that transfer kitty.

Ben Chilwell, the number one left-back at Chelsea. is out for the rest of the season after having surgery on his knee and with only Marcos Alonso left in the squad, a move for Digne has been mooted.

Regarded as one of the finest in the Premier League, Digne has reportedly fallen out of favour with current boss Rafa Benitez and Everton are reportedly willing to let him leave the club before the 31st January

Now IcFootballnews has learned that Chelsea will be submitting an offer later this week to get Digne on loan until the end of the season, with the opportunity to secure a more permanent deal in the summer

Everton are willing to let the player leave knowing they have already signed his immediate replacement, so are willing to let him make the move to London.

IcFootballnews View….

It has been a massive shock to see that Digne has fallen down the pecking order with Everton and fans will be sad to see him leave the club this month. But if Chelsea do manage to get a transfer deal done, he would be a solid addition

He is an upgrade on Marcos Alonso and will give Chilwell a great challenge when he returns, so again, for the right money, he could be a solid signing for Chelsea

So it will be interesting to see if Chelsea do make their move this week, as they need to get a deal done sooner rather than later

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has revealed just why Chelsea decided to hand Thiago Silva a nice new contract to sign

Silva is regarded as one of the finest defenders of his generation and has proven many critics wrong who suggested that he was far too old to produce in the English top flight.

Silva has made 22 appearances so far this season, including 17 in the Premier League, and has made this Chelsea defence so much more better since he arrived at the club, and become a real fans favourite because of that.

The former AC Milan man, who has 102 caps for Brazil, admits that he did not expect to be playing for Chelsea for three seasons when he arrived in London, but now he will be staying another season after agreeing a deal.

And after confirming that a deal had been struck with the Brazilian, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has opened up and revealed just why the club opted to extend the stay of Silva at Stamford Bridge, rather than add a new defender to the squad at the end of the season.

She told the club website: ‘Thiago Silva’s experience, leadership and performances have been and remain very important to this squad, so we are hugely pleased to extend his contract by another year.

‘We look forward to his continued influence as we seek honours this season and next, and more of the qualities that have led to him having such a big impact for us on and off the pitch.’

We are massive fans of Silva and have been for more than 15 years now, he is really is a legendary defender that has won everything in the game. He may be getting on in years, but he is still one of the best defenders in the Premier League, so keeping him for another year is a great decision from the club

PSG will sell Man United

It has again been revealed that PSG will listen to offers from the likes of Chelsea and Man United for the services of Brazilian superstar Neymar.

The transfer window is just a few weeks – and already we have seen the biggest clubs start making moves to get players signed up to new deals – and new stars signed.

PSG have already done the biggest deal of the transfer window by offering Kylian Mbappe a staggering £1 million-a-week contract and a £100 million signing on fee to keep him at the club.

And that deal means that the French giants may need to make a bit of money on order to stick to the financial fair play rules – and one of the clubs biggest stars will now be on the market

GOAL have claimed that PSG will be open to offers that match their valuation of Neymar when the transfer market reopens – believed to be around the £100M mark

There are individuals within the club that feel the 30-year-old has been in gradual decline ever since his initial arrival in Paris and, as well as his consistent struggles with injury, his attitude has also been questioned.

That has led to suggestions that both Chelsea and Man United are ready to swoop in and offer him a move to the Premier League – as they both seek to make that massive statement signing

IcFootballnews View…

Is Neymar a goal-machine? Yes he is.. he is one of the best players in the world? Yes he is – can he use his tricks and skills to get past players? Yes he can

However, PSG are obviously selling him for a reason and if the offer does come in – Chelsea and Man United could snap him up

Can we see him coming to the Premier League and being a success?? No we cannot as he is at the stage of his career that he does no longer care about being the best player in the world

But it will be interesting to see where he ends up

Caglar Soyuncu

Chelsea to offer Soyuncu £19M move to Stamford Bridge?

Published

By

There has been some fresh reports in the media which has suggested that Chelsea will put an offer in to sign Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu

With the fact that both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are leaving the club on a free deal in the next couple of weeks – Thomas Tuchel knows he needs to add defenders to the squad.

Tuchel knows he needs to move quickly to try to stem the tide of outgoings, as the duo – Alongside Thiago Silva, they have been the men to give the Chelsea defence some of its bite and improvement this season.

That has led to many reports suggesting that a new defender is now high up on the shopping list of Tuchel and they have been linked with a whole host of players from La Liga – Ligue 1 and Seria A

But Leicester centre-back Caglar Soyuncu has been linked as a potential replacement for those departing – despite the fact he was once behind Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the King Power pecking order.

But his performances meant that he has been voted into the PFA team of the season and according to AS, for £19million the 26-year-old Turkey international is seen as a reasonable fit for Chelsea.

But With just one year to run on his contract, there is plenty of interest with Real Madrid and Manchester City cited as possible rivals.

IcFootballnews View…

Soyuncu may not have the pace to cope with the most speedy players in the Premier League – but there is not doubt that he has the leadership and physical presence to be a real asset to this Chelsea side

Add that to the fact he is Premier League proven – means he could walk straight into that team and slot in nicely alongside Thiago Silva

There will be a few signings made by Cheslea this summer – but Soyuncu could be a very nice addition.

Can Chelsea overcome their squad and selection challenges to compete with Liverpool and City next season? – Talk Chelsea

Published

on

By

Chelsea’s season is over, so there’s only one thing to do now – look ahead to next season. That’s the cycle of football for you – one season ends, the transfer window opens and you’re already thinking about the next campaign.

If you’re looking to bet some money somewhere like the Casumo Casino, you’ll see that Man City are heavy favourites to continue their sterile domination of the division with what would be a 5th title in 6 year.

They’re astonishingly short 4/6 favourites, with even Jurgen Klopp’s impressive Liverpool trailing them at 7/4.

The phenomenal distance between those two and Chelsea is pointed out by the gap that follows. Thomas Tuchel’s team are third favourites, but so far back that they’re given 20/1 odds.

Given we were looking like the best team in Europe for a while earlier this season, that seems harsh, but on the other hand we did fall away horribly in the second part of the season, and we still have a lot of unanswered questions in the team, while City look set to go to another level once again with the addition of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Their forward planning is really paying off, while Chelsea seem to flounder from season to season, lurching from one manager to another, signing expensive players for each of them and then discarding the previous manager’s choices.

Even so, 20/1 seems very pessimistic given the evidence we’ve already seen that Thomas Tuchel is a top coach. That number really puts a lot of weight on what happened in the last couple of months of the season as our results collapsed, but we think that will quickly prove to be a slightly fugazi run of results.

Not only was there serious behind the scenes disruption with the ongoing spectre of the takeover, there were plenty of mitigating factors on the pitch too.

The team had little to play for in the league once they had fallen off the relentless pace of the leaders, and the defeats in the FA Cup and EFL Cup finals, as well as the manner of elimination from the Champions League, combined to form a really nasty cocktail of apathy and disappointment in the final stages.

After a summer off, refreshed with new signings, we think this team will come back and make that 20/1 look very harsh indeed. We might not catch the breakaway pair at the top next season, but we will run them a lot closer.
