Romelu Lukaku set for a chance to repeat Arsenal success – Talk Chelsea

Published

on

‘Classic Lukaku’ was how commentator Gary Neville described it at the time live on Sky Sports. It was Romelu Lukaku’s first goal back in a Chelsea shirt, and the fans were soon belting out his name.

We were up against our London rivals Arsenal, just like we are again tomorrow night, and Lukaku had announced himself back as a Chelsea player again on his second debut for the club, in Arsenal’s own backyard, after 15 minutes of play.

He then went on to dominate Arsenal in a fine performance for Chelsea and we were all left celebrating his arrival and excited about the future and the season he was about to have.

Then the Sky Italy interview happened and this moment seems like nothing but a distant memory now. Lukaku though, has a chance to do it all again tomorrow against the same team in the Premier League, and it would be very fitting if he used this game to springboard his Chelsea career back to those highs once again.

Lukaku could start against Arsenal tomorrow, with Thomas Tuchel having hinted that Kai Havertz needs to rest, which he was supposed to get against Crystal Palace but Lukaku was just returning from an injury.

It doesn’t mean Lukaku is definitely going to start against Arsenal, but it sounds like he has been planning to try and start him at least and this could mean he starts tomorrow.

“What he needs is maybe that one moment, one spark,” Tuchel said in his press conference today. “I told you he would normally be a natural starter against Crystal Palace because of the amount Kai Havertz played recently and the amount of physicality Kai gives to the matches.”

We will see if he does get that chance to try and salvage his Chelsea career tomorrow night or not, or whether he has to make do with yet another start from the bench as the games just pass him by right now.

Crucial summer for Levi Colwill – Talk Chelsea

Published

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill helped his loan club Huddersfield get to the Championship playoff finals last night, and he was once again pinnacle to the performance and result.

The 19-year-old has continued to prove his worth this season and a couple of fans I’ve spoken to believe that he is mirroring Reece James’ loan season with Wigan when he really pushed on and made a name for himself. Colwill is most certainly doing the same this season.

The summer is pinnacle for him now though and there will be some crucial decisions being made. James came back to Chelsea under a transfer ban, Colwill might have to fight against some shiny new signings. It’s so important that Chelsea get this decsion right for his development and his future because make no mistake, this lad is going to the top.

If Huddersfiled get promoted to the Premier League, perhaps another loan back there for Colwill will be a wise move, especially if Chelsea go and sign a few new defenders to replace the ones who are leaving this summer.

The bottom line is Colwill needs to continue playing regular football now so he can really push on, and if he can have that guaranteed at Chelsea then perfect, I am all for that, he is completely ready for Premier League football. But if he isn’t going to get that then he must go on a loan in a top European division, preferably the Premier League.

Chelsea must not mess this one up and must make a path for him into regular first team football at the club, whether that is this summer or next. Colwill is the real deal.

Thomas Tuchel tells us exactly what we need this summer – Talk Chelsea

Published

Just as the chant goes, “he knows exactly what we need” in reference to our head coach Thomas Tuchel, and in his latest press conference today, he has described ‘exactly what we need ‘ this summer.

It’s been clear for some time that this Chelsea squad is in need of a rebuild. Many players have either outstayed their welcome, have proven not to be good enough, or have just become deadwood at the club, and we know quite a few of them will be leaving, or at least asking to leave this summer.

Tuchel knows this and that is so clear from his latest comments on the up-and-coming summer transfer window, which you can find below.

The truth is though, we need to do both, improve the squad AND rebuild it, and we can do both. I think the rebuild comments are more aimed at our defence, where are definitely losing two players this season and possibly even at least two more. So, our defence will need a rebuild for sure.

The rest of the squad needs improvements added to it, and some of the returning loanees will certainly do that, but we might need to replace further players in the squad as well.

Personally, if it was me, I’d be asking the whole squad to be absolutely truthful and answer whether they truly want to be playing for Chelsea or not next season and beyond, and if any of them said no, then kindly let them depart and replace them with players who DO want to be at this club.

Lukaku showing he can be all-rounder – Talk Chelsea

Published

Romelu Lukaku has scored 15 goals for Chelsea this season, just imagine how many he would be on if he hadn’t done THAT infamous Sky Italy interview.

I think we’d be talking about him as player of the season. Let’s be real here, the reason he has had such a poor season for Chelsea is because of the fallout after that interview. He was on fire before that, and now in these last two games we are starting to see that again.

It’s nothing to do with the system or style of play in my opinion. For me, it is much simpler than that, it’s his attitude and mentality.

It’s almost like a massive media circus and hate from Chelsea fans is enough to ruin someone’s mentality enough to affect their performance.

It’s almost like playing with regret has an effect. Because of course it does.

I think Blues fans had a right to be angry by the way, I was angry with his words, we all were, even Thomas Tuchel. But he made a big error of judgement and I think now he is finally putting that behind him and he is saying enough is enough, I am back. He literally said ‘I’m back’ to the cameras after he scored Chelsea’s third goal against Leeds this week.

It’s like he is accepting responsibility for what he has done, and he’s moving on from it and ready to put in 100% effort once again, effort that had clearly lacked before.

He was doing it all against Leeds on Wednesday. He was dropping in, back to goal, holding the ball up, he was a figure for long-balls, he was essentially being a target man AND a last-man striker,; he was an all-rounder, proving that he absolutely CAN be that striker.

He doesn’t just have to be a striker who plays off the last man and thrives on counter attacks, he can be a target man as well, and that is always what Tuchel has asked. I think finally now, Lukaku is realising that he can do it, and that he will do it, and just work hard for the team now.

If only he did that initially instead of complaining to Sky Italy!!
