Rangnick regime in question inside Manchester United dressing room

Doubt beginning to show as Rangnick regime comes under fire inside in Manchester United dressing room

Rangnick regime in question at Old Trafford

Manchester United interim headmaster Ralf Rangnick continues to take body shots in the aftermath of the Red Devil’s 1-0 loss against Wolves at the weekend, with the regime under the German tactician now coming under increased scrutiny from inside his own dressing room.

According to SkySports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, all is not right at Old Trafford at current under Rangnick and recent quotes from left-back Luke Shaw may have dropped easter eggs regarding a potential source for the question marks that continue to loom at the Theatre of Dreams.

Sheth shed light on the potential strife at the club on The Transfer Show and confirmed that multiple sources have mentioned that divisions exist inside the camp on the back of growing concerns among the players that Rangnick may not be the right man for the job.

It was also confirmed that cliques inside the camp do indeed exist which remains a driving force behind many of the questions emanating from Old Trafford surrounding the unhappiness with not only the tactical approach of Rangnick but his training methods as well.

German tactician should not shoulder all the blame

While questions can be raised around the temporary tenure of Ralf Rangnick thus far given some of the performances that Manchester United has produced since his arrival, the German icon cannot be saddled with all of the blame regarding what currently ails the Premier League giants.

As Dharmesh Sheth pointed out, the latest Covid outbreak not only disrupted training sessions and postponed matches but ended in the closing of the club’s Carrington training base for a period.

This in the wake of a tactical nightmare that was left by Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and instituting new philosophies takes time even under the most ideal set of circumstances.

But despite a certain degree of hardship at Old Trafford, the club remain staunch in their pre-existing stance that Rangnick’s role as manager is only temporary after Sheth also confirmed that United remain on course with their recruitment objectives of bringing in a long-term appointment in the summer after Rangnick moves upstairs in a consultancy role.

In that light, what currently is disrupting the changing room will undoubtedly prove relatively minor in the grand scheme of things in how the Red Devils hierarchy plan to move forward after 2021-22.

Why Manchester United or Newcastle are unlikely to land Amadou Haidara in January

Why Manchester United or Newcastle are unlikely to land Amadou Haidara in January

Manchester United & Newcastle linked with Haidara

Manchester United have been pretty heavily linked with RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara of late.

After being appointed as Manchester United’s interim manager, it was reported that Ralf Rangnick informed club chiefs that they needed to strengthen in midfield, and should take a closer look at Haidara.

It was also claimed that Haidara was set to become the German’s first signing as Man United boss, provided the Red Devils coughed up his release clause, which was believed to stand at £32m.

Then, on Sunday, it was claimed that Manchester United and RB Leipzig had opened up a dialogue regarding Haidara:

A separate report over the weekend, meanwhile, suggested Newcastle were looking to muscle in on the Red Devils’ move for Haidara.

Haidara staying put?

All of this seemed to suggest that Haidara is a wanted man and could be on the move this month.

Now though, Sport 1’s Patrick Berger has provided some information that suggests the RB Leipzig man will not be moving anywhere this month.

Firstly, Berger does acknowledge that Newcastle and Manchester United are interested in Haidar, before adding that the latter was the 23-year-old’s favourite club as a child.

However, Berger goes on to explain that Leipzig have no interest in selling Haidara in the winter window and, most importantly of all, his release clause, which is put at €40m, does not activate until the summer.

So, with Leipzig not wanting to sell and no release clause in place, it does look as though Haidara will be staying put for the time being:

Arsenal eye potential January switch for Middlesbrough right-back

Arsenal eye potential January switch for Middlesbrough right-back

Arsenal are interested in the services of Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence, according to reports.

Djed Spence impressing on loan

Middlesbrough would sign Djed Spence from Fulham in July of 2018.

The young right-back would spend some time with Middlesbrough’s under-23s, before eventually being handed his senior debut in December of 2019.

Spence had fantastic start to life at the Riverside and would be named as the EFL Young Player of the Month for December of 2019.

However, Boro’s form then tailed off in the second half of that season, with Jonathan Woodgate eventually being replaced by Neil Warnock.

Warnock, a more defensive manager, was not too keen on Spence – who can be somewhat lackluster in his defensive duties – and would allow the 21-year-old to be loaned out to Nottingham Forest for the 2021/22 campaign.

Spence has since excelled with Nottingham Forest, including in the 3rd round of the FA Cup when he spent an afternoon terrorizing Arsenal’s left-flank.

Arsenal eye Djed Spence

Now, after seeing Spence up close, the Gunners appear to be keen on a move.

The Mirror report that Arsenal are eyeing a potential January move for Spence, with Italian giants AS Roma and Inter Milan also watching developments closely.

Given how impressive he has been this season, new Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder may not be too keen to let the wing-back go without getting a close look at him.

However, Wilder’s stance on keeping Spence could be more relaxed due to the starring displays Isaiah Jones has been putting in for Boro at right-wing-back of late, but that is not clear right now.

Atalanta chief speaks out on Robin Gosens to Newcastle rumours

Atalanta chief speaks out on Robin Gosens to Newcastle rumours

Newcastle’s hopes of landing Robin Gosens appear to have take a blow.

Newcastle linked with Robin Gosens

Robin Gosens would join Serie A outfit Atalanta back in 2017, departing Dutch side Heracles Almelo.

Gosens has since featured on 157 occasions for Atalanta, scoring 29 and assisting 21 in the process.

Most, though, will likely be familiar with Gosens from some of his impressive displays for Germany at Euro 2020.

Like he is for Atalanta, Gosens was deployed as a left-wing-back in a back-three/five. And he would cause Portugal all sorts of problems in the meeting between them and Germany, scoring once and providing two assists as Germany ran out 4-2 winners on the day.

Now, despite not currently operating with a left-wing-back, reports emerged over the weekend that Newcastle had agreed a contract with Gosens. Said deal was reportedly for €3.5m-per-year for three and a half years:

Atalanta chiefs speaks out on Gosens rumours

And whilst Newcastle may have agreed a deal with Gosens, Atalanta are seemingly not too keen to play ball.

Atalanta director Marino would be asked about Gosens to Newcastle recently, but he seemed to brush it off somewhat:

“Every day we read in the newspapers of Atalanta players in talks with Newcastle. It seems like a lottery. We’re waiting for Gosens to come back from injury.”

What’s more, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Atalanta have no plans to sell the German in January:
