Ousmane Dembele and Joao Felix to replace Robert Lewandoski

Bayern Munich News: Despite winning the Bundesliga, things are shaky for the Bavarians. Robert Lewandoski has been in news for some time. There have been constant rumours that he is looking to leave the club. This has created unrest at Allianz Arena.

Hasan Salihamidžić the club director has also been in the news. There are doubts about how he will replace the Pole. So far there hardly seems to be a concrete transfer plan. This has led to concerns among the Bayern fans as to who will led the line next season. On top of it Salihamidzic further dropped the big bomb on Bayern fans.

He has confirmed that Lewandoski will not extend his contract with the club. Now the Bavarians will have to look for replacements for the star striker. So far the most high profile that has linked is Sadio Mane. The Liverpool forward has just one year left on his contract.

However, apart from Mane, two new names have also emerged. According to Sky Sports, the Barca forward is a target for the German giants. While Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has reported that Joao Felix is also a target for the Bavarians. Both players will come in as a replacement for Lewandoski.

The Portuguese international joined Atletico Madrid for a club-record fee of £113 million in 2019. He was signed as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman at the time signed for Barca. There were high expectations over the 22 years old. However, he is yet to justify the price tag.

Despite his struggles, there are high expectations from him. Felix is still young and he still has time to reach his potential. There is no denying that he is a talented player. Thus Bayern Munich is interested in luring away from Madrid to Munich. It has been reported that the Bundesliga giants really like the player as well.

However, the transfer fee for the Portuguese sacres them. Los Colchoneros would not let him leave for cheap. They will demand a similar fee that they paid for him in 2019. Not only this the former Benefica forward still has four years left on his contract. Thus it will be tough to negotiate a deal for him.

It is not clear whether the player himself wants the transfer. Many have stated that his struggles are a result of Diego Simone’s defensive tactics. It is argued that a player like Felix will thrive in an attacking system. While Naglesmann’s Bayern have very much played the expansive attacking football.

With Joao Felix’s transfer fee an issue, the Bundesliga giants could look for an economical solution in Dembele. The Barca forward’s contract expires this summer. There were talks that he would be sold in January this year. The Catalans wanted him sold in January but the player himself refused to leave.

However, it seems unlikely that both the parties will agree on a new deal anytime soon. The Germans have established contact with his agents over a potential move. It should also be remembered that Dembele has previously played in the Bundesliga.

He was part of the Borussia Dortmund team that won the DLF Pokal Cup. Thus adjusting to Germany should not be a problem for him. Although his career in Spain has been rocked by injuries but in recent times he has stayed fit.

Under new Barca manager Xavi, the Frenchman has shown a rich vein of form as well. The Bavarians are also aware of his capabilities and want to swoop in early for him. He is free to discuss a transfer with other clubs and Chelsea have also been linked with him.
