Chelsea news: Blues in talks with PSG for Layvin Kurzawa

The Blues lost first-choice left-back Ben Chilwell due to an ACL injury in November. The former Leicester City defender is unlikely to play again this season. Thomas Tuchel is currently on the lookout to sign his replacement for the rest of the season.

The Londoners have tried to recall Loanne Emerson from Lyon in recent weeks. However, the French club are reluctant to cut short his loan deal, forcing the Blues to look at other options. Thomas Tuchel’s side are also considering recalling loanee Ian Maatsen from Coventry City.

Apart from that, the reigning European Champions have also shown interest in signing Ajax’s Nicolás Tagliafico in recent weeks.

What will Layvin Kurzama bring to Chelsea?

The France international is a modern-day left-back who is equally good defensively and offensively. His key attributes are his passing, positional awareness, and ability in the air. He averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per 90 in the French top division last season. Apart from that, he also contributed one goal and one assist in Ligue 1 during the 2020-21 season.

We suffered in midfield from Covid and injuries. Now our midfielders are more or less coming back, we suffer a lot with our central defenders. Nothing has changed but it needs to make sense, to be possible, make sense on a high level and also in quality, personality. We have a look into the market, nothing has changed. We have all options, also the option to say no.”

The Blues are yet to make a signing in this transfer window, whereas Lewis Baker is the only departure from Stamford Bridge so far.

The Blaugrana are open to selling Dembele for €50m in January

FC Barcelona News: The Blaugrana reportedly wanted to extend the stay of French international Ousmane Dembele. But talks seem to have broken down as the Spanish giants are now willing to sell him in January.

It is no secret that FC Barcelona have gone into major debt in the past year. Owing to this, they also had to let go of Lionel Messi in the summer.

The fans expected that the performances on the pitch would at least make things better. But an early exit from the UEFA Champions League and a slow start in LaLiga seem to have killed those hopes as well.

Barcelona even sacked Ronald Koeman owing to their horrific start of the season. Since then, Xavi Hernandez has taken up the mantle at his old hunting ground. The World Cup winner has since brought a little normalcy to the free-falling club.

Will Ousmane Dembele leave FC Barcelona in January?

Barcelona News: The Blaugrana are open to selling Ousmane Dembele for €50m in January

Barcelona’s manager Xavi Hernandez reportedly wants Ousmane Dembele to stay at the club. But as per Foot Mercato, the winger may leave FC Barcelona if a decent offer comes in January.

As per the report, Ousmane Dembele currently earns around €20m per year at FC Barcelona. The Spanish club were ready to give him an increased contract of €25m per year, but the winger is not happy about it.

Dembele’s agent has reportedly made it clear that the Frenchman is expecting something around €40m per season. But given their financial condition, Barcelona can not afford to give such a contract for now.

Barcelona have given an ultimatum to Ousmane Dembele about the same. The club has reportedly made it clear that if the winger does not sign an extension by the end of January, he would be excluded from the first team.

The Frenchman’s contract with Barcelona is set to expire in June 2022. Hence, the Spanish club is now ready to sell him if an offer of €50m arrives before the end of this month. This is an astronomical value considering that Dembele just has 6-months remaining in his contract.

Ousmane Dembele joined FC Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. Since then he has scored 31 goals in 130 appearances for the LaLiga club.

Possible destinations for Dembele?

It seems quite unlikely that any club would be willing to pay €50 million for a player who becomes a free agent in June. Nevertheless, Ousmane Dembele has a lot of potential suitors lined up for him if he does decide to leave.

As per multiple reports, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the winger’s situation. It has to be seen what Ousmane Dembele decides by the end of the 2021/22 season.

However, there is still some difference between the two teams’ valuation of the player, which they will look to resolve in the coming weeks.
