Premier League betting tips round-up: Gameweek 25

This article provides betting tips for Premier League Gameweek 25.

Diogo Jota has stepped up in the absence of Mo Salah

The pressure will once again be on Liverpool to either match or better Manchester City’s result as they look to close the nine-point gap on the league leaders.

Meanwhile, the race for the top four is continuing to heat up with just four points separating fourth-placed West Ham and seventh-placed Tottenham, while Newcastle will be looking to further pull away at the bottom and relegation outsiders Leeds and Everton face off.

Here, 101 Great Goals previews this weekend’s Premier League fixtures and offers the best betting tips around:

Man Utd v Southampton

o – Manchester United 3/5

o – Draw 3/1

o – Southampton 9/2

Manchester United were unable to bounce back from their shock FA Cup exit to Middlesbrough as they were held to a draw by Burnley.

Southampton stunned the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday as they came from behind to win 3-2.

Here are our top tips:

Draw and both teams to score (4/1)

Southampton have now taken points off of Spurs and Man City in their last two matches.

The Saints will fancy their chances of also getting a result at Old Trafford against an out of form Man United side.

Both teams have struggled for clean sheets this season so goals are expected.

United have kept clean sheets in just 18 percent of their home matches whilst Southampton have kept clean sheets in just 17% of their away games.

Armando Broja to score first (9/1)

The Chelsea loanee added to his tally against Spurs on Wednesday to make it six league goals to his name this season, and he is the main goal threat.

Watford v Brighton

o – Watford 5/2

o – Draw 23/10

o – Southampton 21/20

Watford have taken one point from their first two matches under their new boss Roy Hodgson after being beaten by West Ham on Tuesday.

Brighton are on a current run of six matches undefeated and were not in action during midweek so had had a full week’s rest.

Here are our top tips:

Brighton to win and under 2.5 goals (11/4)

Brighton are currently enjoying a run of six games unbeaten and they will fancy their chances of winning away at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Saturday’s clash is expected to be a low scoring affair with Brighton boasting a strong defensive record this term.

Watford have also shored up at the back under Roy Hodgson but they could still struggle to keep Brighton at bay.

Leandro Trossard to score anytime (10/3)

The Belgian is expected to return from illness on the weekend, and has been one of Brighton’s biggest threats this season with four league goals.

He will be confident of adding to his tally against a struggling Watford side.

Norwich v Man City

o – Norwich 14/1

o – Draw 7/1

o – Man City 1/6

Norwich’s fortunes appear to be finally turning around as they are on a run of three unbeaten and having taken seven points from their last three games.

Manchester City returned to winning ways during midweek as they defeated Brentford and move nine points clear at the top.

Here are our top tips:

Man City to win to nil (1/1)

City face a Norwich side on Saturday who have failed to score in half of their home matches.

The Premier League leaders have also kept six clean sheets in their last nine matches.

Raheem Sterling to score first (6/1)

Following an impressive Euros campaign, Sterling has returned to Man City and has been crucial this term.

The forward has seven league goals to his name this season, starting City’s last four matches and is once again expected to start on the weekend.

Full Norwich vs Man City betting tips

Burnley v Liverpool

o – Burnley 9/1

o – Draw 17/4

o – Liverpool 2/7

Burnley managed to hold Manchester United to a draw on Tuesday, however, they remain rock bottom of the table.

Liverpool defeated Leicester City at Anfield to close the gap on Man City to nine points.

Here are our top tips:

Liverpool to win by 2 goals (3/1)

Liverpool’s last two league matches have seen them win by 2 goals.

With Salah and Mane both back, the Reds will fancy their chances of another comfortable win on Sunday.

Diogo Jota to score first (4/1)

Jota has been in superb form this season having 16 times. The Portuguese forward also scored a brace against Leicester on Thursday.

Full Burnley vs Liverpool betting tips

Spurs v Wolves

o – Spurs 7/10

o – Draw 13/5

o – Wolves 9/2

Tottenham Hotspur produced a shocking performance on Wednesday as they twice let a lead slip to lose to Southampton.

Wolves slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Thursday evening to deal their Europen hopes a massive blow.

Here are our top tips:

Tottenham and under 2.5 goals (12/5)

Tottenham will be determined to bounce back on the weekend following their midweek defeat.

Few goals in the game are likely with both teams averaging just over one goal per game.

Wolves have now also failed to score in half their matches this season.

Heung-min Son to score first (5/1) or anytime (7/4)

Son netted a ninth league goal of the season against the Saints on Wednesday.

The South Korean has now scored seven goals in the league at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Brentford v Crystal Palace

o – Brentford 31/20

o – Draw 21/10

o – Crystal Palace 2/1

Brentford were dealt a fifth consecutive defeat on Wednesday as they were beaten by Man City.

Crystal Palace were only able to pick up a point away at Norwich as they were held to a 1-1 draw with the Canaries.

Here are our top tips:

Under 2.5 goals

These sides played out a 0-0 bore draw when they met earlier this season.

Crystal Palace have also been involved in four under 2.5 goal games on their last five Premier League away days.

A high-scoring game isn’t expected here as reflected in the odds of 8/5 for another under 2.5 goals game here.

Ivan Toney anytime (5/2)

Toney has scored in each of his last three appearances for Brentford. Sadly for the Bees, they were the losing side in all three games with Toney scoring their only goal.

Still, he is clearly in good form and finding the net which is why he finds himself as the favourite to bag a goal at any time during the game on Saturday.

Everton v Leeds

o – Everton 5/4

o – Draw 5/2

o – Leeds 2/1

Frank Lampard started life back in Premier League management with a 3-1 defeat away at Newcastle in what was an abject display by the Toffees.

Leeds produced a spirited comeback to claim a 3-3 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Here are our top tips:

Leeds to win and both teams to score (4/1)

Marcelo Bielsa’s side travel to Goodison Park full of confidence having fought back to claim a point at Aston Villa in an entertaining draw midweek.

The South Yorkshire club will fancy their chances against an Everton side who looked fairly abject in defeat to Newcastle.

With 28 goals in the last six games involving Leeds, there will definitely be action, and with two wins and a draw in their last four league games, they will fancy coming out on top.

Half Time/Full Time: Draw-Leeds (13/2)

The majority of goals in games involving Leeds come in the second half, despite the five-goal first 45 at Villa Park.

Leeds have scored seven goals in the last 15 minutes of games so far this season and with Everton suffering injuries, they could be out on their feet against a physically dominant Leeds side.

Everton respond to FFP threat after Leeds & Burnley write to Premier League

Everton issue response to FFP threat after Leeds & Burnley write to Premier League

Everton have issued an official response, amid concerns that major problems could be on the horizon at the club, owing to a series of breaches of Financial Fair Play.

For those not aware, on Friday evening, it was revealed that both Leeds United and Burnley recently wrote to the Premier League, to essentially accuse those in a position of power at Goodison Park of overstepping their financial constraints in a major way.

This of course came with the three clubs, at the time, having been embroiled in a tense battle against relegation from the top-flight of English football.

As per the rules laid out by FFP, no club is permitted to post losses in excess of £105 million over the course of a rolling three-year period, or risk facing potentially serious punishment.

Everton, however, are understood to have recorded a loss of £371.8 million over the last three years.

Even with the Toffees’ £170 million deficit across the length of the pandemic having been written off as part of a league-wide agreement, this would steal leave the Merseyside club alarmingly in excess of the allowable losses alluded to above.

In a joint-letter to the powers that be at the Financial Fair Play offices, Leeds and Burnley, last week, therefore expressed their understandable bewilderment with precisely why Everton had not been subjected to any form of punishment.

‘Their decision’

And now, late on Friday, the powers that be at Goodison have issued their response.

Fresh off securing their top-flight status for another season, in a short statement cited by Goal, the Toffees have assured all associated with the club that they have fully ‘complied with the rules’, hinting that they are altogether unconcerned by the threat of legal action:

“We have worked closely with the Premier League to make sure we are compliant. We are comfortable we have complied with the rules.

“External auditors have told us what we can and cannot claim against the pandemic. If clubs want to take legal action that’s their decision.”

Barcelona set sights on Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry

Barcelona turn attentions to 2nd Bayern Munich star ahead of summer

Word stemming from the Spanish media on Friday suggests that Barcelona are expressing a keen interest in a 2nd member of the attacking ranks of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The player in question? Serge Gnabry.

As per a report from the reliable Cat Radio, Xavi Hernandez and co. have identified Gnabry as a prime target to reinforce the club’s frontline with a view to the 2022/23 campaign.

This comes with the German international potentially set to be available at a cut price, having refused to put pen to paper on fresh terms ahead of the expiration of his contract in Bavaria in 12 months’ time.

Even more likely, though, is the possibility of Gnabry landing at the Camp Nou as a free agent in the summer of 2023.

The former Arsenal star’s future is understood to be linked with that of Ousmane Dembele, with moves for both Gnabry and Leeds United star Raphinha on the cards in the case that the Frenchman opts to move on next month.

Barca directors Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff, in turn, are understood to have made contact with the representatives of the Bayern winger, to obtain a better understanding of the likelihood of a deal being struck.

Lewa eyed

Word of Barcelona’s potential swoop for Gnabry of course comes with the Catalan giants also widely reported to be lining up a deal for another key member of Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern Munich squad, in the form of Robert Lewandowski.

With ‘Lewa’ himself having made clear his intention to seek pastures new this summer, the board at the Camp Nou have positioned themselves front and centre to take advantage of the situation.

And such endeavours could well be primed to bear imminent fruit, amid suggestions in Spain this week that Pini Zahavi, the Pole’s agent, paid a visit to Barca’s official store, to purchase no fewer than ten jerseys, all with Lewandowski’s name emblazoned across the back.

Major concern for Fulham as Solomon deal ‘on verge of collapse’

Major concern for Fulham as Solomon deal ‘on verge of collapse’

Concern is no doubt spreading at Premier League-bound Fulham on Friday, amid claims that the club’s deal for Manor Solomon is primed to come up short at the last.

For those not aware, it had long been viewed as a formality that gifted attacker Solomon was primed for a summer switch to Craven Cottage.

This 22-year-old is understood to have been identified as the ideal replacement for the outbound Fabio Carvalho, set to take his talents to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ahead of the new season.

On the back of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Fulham, in turn, quickly swooped to strike what was understood to be a deal worth around £7 million with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Multiple outlets went as far as to state that the transfer was therefore as good as done, with the Cottagers set to add proven attacking quality to their ranks ahead of a season back in the top-flight of English football.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds online on Friday evening is anything to go by, then Marco Silva and co, in fact, look set for something of a blow when it comes to their plans moving forward.

This comes amid mounting claims that the club’s deal for Solomon is on the verge of collapse.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, ‘serious issues’ have arisen at the last, with rival clubs, in turn, have reemerged in the race for the Israeli international’s signature.
