Ousmane Dembele Tables His Demands For Barcelona Extension

Ousmane Dembele has once again made the headlines for his long-standing contract stand-off between him and the club. The French winger has been on a  good run of form lately, after getting back in the first-team, spotting on the right-wing, and showing why exactly he was so highly touted and admired by clubs around the world.

However, he is in the final year of his contract and is set to become a free agent. Negotiations between club and player have dragged on for what seems like an eternity. He was all set to jump ship in January, almost joining French giants PSG, but the move broke down at the last minute, so he decided to buckle up, and produce his best form in years for the club.

The Current Contract Situation Of Ousmane Dembele At Barcelona

Amid the recent run of good form for Barcelona, his agent had hinted that his client will be willing to sign an extension, and even take a wage cut from his exorbitant current salary of £350,000-a-week, if his client is granted a bonus in his contract. This has not gone down well with the Barca hierarchy, who believe that the agent is holding the club ransom on the back of such a demand.

The club and the agent of Ousmane Dembele, Moussa Sissoko met earlier this month in Marrakesh, with club director Mateu Alemany representing Barca in the negotiations. Both sides ended the talks with a stalemate, with both sides adamant about dragging their heels over this matter.

This is a key summer for Barcelona, with a number of key players eligible for contract extensions, they cannot afford to keep this going. If the player is not interested, they should let the player go. The attacker will surely have a lot of offers for his services. Xavi and the Barcelona management will not want to spoil the culture at the club that they are trying so hard to improve, just for a player like Ousmane Dembele.

What do you the fans think of this whole situation? Should Barcelona tie down Ousmane Dembele to an extension?

Barcelona Has Been Declared As The MOST VALUABLE CLUB IN THE WORLD By Forbes

As per FORBES, based on a report from last year, the Catalan giants head the list of MOST VALUABLE clubs. Barcelona has a total net worth of $4.76b as per the report but is considered to be of higher value than any other football club in the world. Barca beat rivals Real Madrid to claim this title, which can be said to be an achievement in itself.

This is according to the prestigious North American business and finance magazine, which ranked Barcelona at no. 1. Real Madrid is a close second priced at $4.75b. The top spot was monopolized by two teams for the last 16 years. The champions of Spain had it five times, while Premier League’s Manchester United was on top for another 11 times.

The world’s 20 most valuable soccer teams are valued at $2.28b apiece. This is an increase of 30% from a couple of years ago, the last time that FORBES had done this evaluation. This was a positive thing for the game itself, as the pandemic hadn’t really impacted the overall growth of these franchises.

FC Barcelona Is The Most Valuable Club At Present And The Fans Would Be Delighted

Though the club from Spain has been in sort of a financial crisis in recent seasons they have managed to handle it in a smart way. Letting go of Lionel Messi was a great decision, considering that the player has had a poor season. Further, it reduced a lot of the wage bill and Barcelona was able to add more quality in various departments.

Keeping that in mind, this title will be huge for the former champs of Spain. Though they had an average season and may end it on a high, this tag would surely hold true if they can rebuild under Xavi. A lot of things have changed around the Nou Camp in recent times.

However, the tag could surely help them rebuild from scratch. Let’s wait and watch whether Xavi is the right man moving forward or not. Things are looking good at present and the atmosphere is rather positive. Hopefully, it lasts in the upcoming campaigns too!!

Philippe Coutinho To Barcelona; The Signing That Broke The Catalan Giants

When Barcelona signed Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool in January 2018, it was heralded to be the missing piece of the Barcelona jigsaw. The one final piece that was needed for the club to compete on all fronts. With the player himself wanting the mover, and the perfect foil for the all-out attack philosophy of the club, everything was pointing to the perfect match between club and player.

Except… it was anything but perfect. Philippe Coutinho never really settled in the club, for a variety of reasons. He never really got going, with the manager constantly shuffling him from one position to another, and then the pressure of the price tag. He was bought for an eye-watering $188m by the club, and yet his output to the club was nothing less than a pittance.

No matter who the manager or what the Catalan giants tried to do, Philippe Coutinho just couldn’t fit in. He was not the player that Barcelona needed at that point and something was just missing. His form was another issue and when that was not the problem, injuries got the better of him.

The Signing Of Philippe Coutinho By Barcelona Is Possibly The Worst Business Deal Of The 21st Century So Far

Unable to find a place in the squad or on the pitch, the club decided to loan him to German giants Bayern Munich. Over there he had a brief resurgence, but even then he could not find his mojo there. The only game where we could see the glimpses of the old Coutinho, was ironically against Barcelona, in “THAT” Champions League game, where they thrashed Bayern 8-2, and Coutinho scored a brace against them. That was his legacy in Barcelona, scoring against his own club while being on their books.

And now, he is on the verge of signing with Aston Villa in a deal worth $20m, a massive massive fall from grace. While he has been great at the Midlands side, playing with freedom last seen in Liverpool, this is a far cry from the player that he used to be. It was a deal that literally broke Barcelona financially and the fans would rue the day they signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

How the mighty have fallen!!

Luis Suarez Has Already Spoken To Joan Laporta About Potential Barcelona Return

Luis Suarez was let go two summers ago when Barcelona decided to offload some of their stars and he was one of the names that they had to push out of their books. This was after he had spent more than half a decade at the club, winning a lot of trophies during his time with the Catalan giants. Though he didn’t want to move on, he was forced to join Atletico Madrid, due to the financial situation that the club was in.

With that being said, in his heart, Luis Suarez always was a Barca fan and player at heart. This has now made him reconsider a return to the Nou Camp. The recent rumours confirmed that the Uruguayan international has already had talks about a potential return.

What Did The Story Further Say About The Future Of Luis Suarez And A Potential Return To Barcelona?

The 35-year-old striker wants to make a comeback to the Catalan side. He wants to contribute further to the growth of the club and help them win more titles. Keeping that in mind, it has now been said that Luis Saurez has already had talks with Barcelona President Joan Laporta about a potential return.

Suarez was not part of the plans for Ronaldo Koeman, whose time at the club wasn’t the best. However, once Xavi took charge, there was always a chance of a potential return for the player. Both parties are currently keen on making the deal happen. However, what will be the ideal role for the attacker, remains to be seen.

Things will not be that easy for the 35-year-old star now, though he is quite keen to make his Nou Camp return. It will be tougher for him now, as he isn’t getting any younger and the league is still quite competitive. However, he has proven himself to be an asset even at Atletico Madrid, winning the La Liga title with them last season.

Let’s wait and watch if Luis Suarez can indeed come back to Barcelona and if he is going to be rather impressive or just fades away.
