Manchester United will only sign a new player if the right opportunity arrives – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United will reportedly only chase opportunities in the transfer market, rather than actively pursue targets.

As interim manager, Ralf Rangnick has considered boosting his squad and the club are being linked with a wide range of defensive midfielders to help the boss implement his new tactics.

At the moment, the club are heavily relying on Nemanja Matic who, at his age, cannot play every game of the season.

There will come a time where the club will be forced into relying on either Scott McTominay or Fred and though they both can somewhat perform in that role, they are not specialists much like Matic is.

According to The Sport Review, through Fabrizio Romano, Man United are unlikely to sign a striker in the winter market.

However, the Italian journalist has stated that a signing could be on the cards with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria a potential option.

“I expect Man United to go only for opportunities, so I don’t see anything big like top names in January,” Romano stated on the Five YouTube channel.

“But if they will have the opportunity to go for a defensive midfielder, it would be an option. I want to say, it’s not 100 per cent sure – from what I’m told, the focus at Man United is for the summer, not for January.

“But if an opportunity will be on the market, like for example Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach – many clubs approached this boy, Liverpool, Barcelona Juventus – let’s see if Man United will consider to jump on it in January.

“At the moment, it’s not advanced. It’s one of the possibilities they have discussed, but it’s not something 100 per cent sure. If they do something, it will be in that [defensive midfield] position, that’s what I’m told, more than for strikers.”

The club’s number one priority in recent seasons has been to sign a defensive midfielder to replace Matic.

They haven’t been successful yet but will be hoping to secure Zakaria who is considered to be one of the cheapest options out there in this market.

Fans will be expecting one or two signings during the winter transfer window after a turbulent couple of weeks which has seen the club drop unnecessary points.

Matthias GinterBorussia Monchenglabach

With the first of the season, it is a new start for the Foals. Defensively they have to be on top of thier game if they are to achieve their targets. Matthias Ginter has been a leader at the back for them this season. He needs to be at his best in order to keep his side in the game. The German will have to lead his backline very well in this game.

Patrik SchickBayer Leverkusen

The former Roma striker has been in great form this season. So far he has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga. He will need to continue his exploits as Leverkusen chase the Champions League spot. The 6’4 inches tall striker will have to use his physicality to score goals and bring others into play.

Denis Zakaria: Borussia Monchengladbach state how deal can happen – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have been told what needs to happen if they hope to sign Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria this month.

The talented midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford of late, with his contract ending in six months time.

Goal journalist Ronan Murphy tweeted:

“Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Max Eberl: “There are no concrete offers for Denis Zakaria & Matthias Ginter. That there has been a lot of speculation is not surprising. Both have 6-month contracts, but if something else comes in winter, I can’t rule out that one of them will leave.””

Zakaria is said to be worth around £5m and so many fans have called for the club to sign him this month instead of waiting out his contract.

Many clubs are believed to be in for his signature and so United could get ahead of the racing pack by bidding to bring him in now.

Ralf Rangnick was said to be a fan of Zakaria’s and the obvious need for a midfielder make this a deal that is seemingly straightforward.

Monchengladbach’s director of football Erbel has made it clear that Zakaria can only leave if someone puts in a respectable bid.

Having said that, there are no guarantees it means Rangnick sees this as a good deal to make, especially since he will be free in the summer.

What is clear is that Erbel insisted no concrete offers were made for Zakaria and so those who claimed United have already tabled a bid, did so falsely.

Nonetheless, time will tell whether or not Rangnick will bring the Swiss midfielder in but at least he’s been told what the club expect.

Manchester United transfer news: Denis Zakaria updates emerge – Man United News And Transfer News

Conflicting reports regarding Manchester United’s supposed interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach ace Denis Zakaria have emerged today.

The midfielder is believed to have his heart set on an imminent departure and, with just 6 months remaining on his current deal, could even get his wish this month.

According to German outlet Sport 1, United are primed to steal a march on Borussia Dortmund in the race to secure the 25-year-old’s services.

Dortmund are said to favour a summer move for the midfielder, which could play into the hands of the Reds’ interim coach Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick is a long-term admirer of the Swiss ace and it’s said that “good discussions” have already taken place between United and the player’s camp.

However, while Zakaria could be available for a bargain €6m (£5m), uncertainty over the futures of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard has reputedly stopped the Old Trafford club from making a move.

Arch rivals Liverpool and Italian giants Juventus are also thought to be keenly monitoring events, with a view to throwing their hats into the ring.

Sport 1’s coverage of United’s interest has been largely repeated by journalist Christian Falk. The German recently tweeted:

“TRUE! Man Utd made an offer to the agents of Denis Zakaria. Ralf Rangnick is a fan of the player. No negotiations with Borussia at the Moment.

Clubs of all top-leagues are interested in Zakaria. BUT: United would pay for a Transfer in Winter. Zakaria is a free agent in summer.”

Meanwhile, closer to home, the MEN has strongly downplayed any possibility of a transfer taking place in the January window.

The North-western outlet has confirmed that the Reds’ hierarchy have run the rule over Zakaria, but are adamant that United are not expecting to do any business this month.

Those earlier reports have also been thoroughly scotched, with the MEN firmly stating that no talks have taken place so far between the two clubs.

So, who to believe? One would imagine that German journalists have closer and more reliable contacts with the Zakaria camp than Northern media.

That said, there’s nothing overly conclusive about any of this recent flurry of activity and, even if the MEN are hedging their bets, the club line has been pretty solidly repeated thus far.

Therefore, it’s very possible that the MEN don’t have much to add to the story, so are hedging their bets and sticking to the official script.

Still, United fans desperate to see sorely overdue midfield reinforcements are probably best advised to expect the worst, while hoping for the best.
