Manchester United make contact over Aurelien Tchouameni but face stiff opposition – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are in the mix for the supremely talented French holding midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni, according to reliable sources in France.
It is a badly kept secret that United are in the market for a world class defensive midfielder.
The only specialist in that area on the club’s books is Nemanja Matic, who is 33 years old and lacking a yard of pace when compared with his heyday.
Tchouameni is already an established international for the World champions and at 22 years old is one of the most exciting young talents on the planet.
And according to the reliable RMC Sport, United are one of a number of clubs in talks with the player’s agents about a possible transfer.
‘What will be the next destination of Aurélien Tchouaméni, today focused on the Monegasque project? Hard to predict,’ the outlet says.
‘In addition to Real Madrid or Chelsea, the player’s entourage is in discussion with the biggest European leaders. Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona have recently asked for information.
‘For their part, Juventus are not left out and already wanted to bring the midfielder to Turin last summer.’
Whilst that sounds like a lot of competition – it is a lot of competition – the current financial climate might come to United’s aid as Monaco seek to create a bidding war.
‘€60, 80, 100 million … For weeks, even months, different prices have been published in the international press,’ the outlet notes.
‘[But] while many sums are leaking in the press concerning a possible transfer … no price has been set for the French international by Monaco.
‘If the French international does not leave [Monaco] this winter, a departure this summer seems inevitable.’
Spanish outlet Marca, on the other hand, claims that Monaco have set a price of €80 – €100 million.
An inevitable departure this year coupled with a high price tag will almost certainly rule out Real Madrid – who are prioritising Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland – and Barcelona, who are still trapped in a financial crisis.
Juventus are also cash strapped, although they seem too have found nearly €100 million to sign Dusan Vlahovic this week, leaving United’s Premier League rivals as the most likely competitors in the race for his signature.
With Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and West Ham’s Declan Rice also on United’s radar, their cash should ultimately be king in 2022 and should allow them to land one of these three world-class targets.

Braga v AS Monaco preview
It took a considerable amount of effort for the home side to reach this stage of the competition. In the group stages, they finished second, only a point ahead of Danish side Midtjylland. And then in the playoff round, the Archbishops needed a penalty shootout to find a way past Sheriff Tiraspol.
Carlos Carvalhal’s men are going to be up against it when they take on the Monegasques. The two have played only once before in a friendly that ended in a goalless draw.
Braga have done fairly well at home in Europe so they might be looking to take advantage of that.
Monaco though, are competing in this competition for only the second time ever. However, every time they’ve been in the second tier competition, they’ve always qualified for the knockout phases. They topped their group ahead of Real Sociedad, PSG and Sturm Graz and did not lose a single game.
Philippe Clement’s team have been defensively very solid, conceding only four times in six games.

AS Monaco star impresses in stunning performance

AS Monaco star Aurélien Tchouaméni impressed observers in a brilliant performance vs Olympique Lyon in Ligue 1.
Manchester United are said to be keen on the midfielder’s signature and if there were any scouts watching the match, they would have liked what they’ve seen.
Aurélien Tchouaméni last night:
72 touches
42 passes completed (84%)
14/20 duels won
— 10/14 ground
— 4/6 aerial
10 possession recoveries
4/4 take-ons completed
4 fouls won
3 interceptions
3 clearances
1 big chance createdAnother stellar performance. pic.twitter.com/luH6lpnb8Z
— UtdArena (@UtdArena) February 6, 2022
The Tweet above shows that Tchouaméni was thoroughly involved in the play as evidenced by his 72 touches.
His passing completion rate might not be that great but it’s largely because of his risk-taking approach which resulted in one big chance created.
Three interceptions, three clearances, 10 possession recoveries, and 14 duels won is essentially the reason why United are interested in Tchouaméni in the first place.
Four completed take-ons shows what a complete midfielder the Frenchman is and why he’s such a hot prospect.
The Peoples Person previously covered how Manchester United were making contact for Tchouaméni but faced stiff competition.
AS Monaco previously warned those interested in the midfielder it will take a big bid to secure his signature, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
United clearly need to invest in their engine room this summer and it could even be argued that multiple signings are needed.
It’s been made clear to fans that the decisions made for the transfer market will rely on the incoming permanent manager, rather than Ralf Rangnick.

Aurelien Tchouaméni : Manchester United enter transfer race for AS Monaco midfielder – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouaméni next summer. According to L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), the Red Devils are one of the ‘most prestigious’ clubs after him.
The report also mentions that the player is admired by plenty of clubs across Europe and that a deal would be difficult to pull off.
Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid are among the other clubs interested, with no club yet in advanced talks.
Monaco do not have a shortage of cash and are hence reluctant to sell. The player himself is said to prefer deciding at the end of the season.
The 21 year old has had a stellar last season, featuring 36 times in Ligue 1 and earning a senior call-up for his national side.
Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Tchouaméni has the attributes to thrive in a box-to-box role.
Laurie Whitwell recently confirmed that United are looking to sign a midfielder in January.
However, with Paul Pogba yet to sign an extension and Nemanja Matic on the decline, United could be on the lookout for a couple of signings.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick even mentioned in a recent press conference that the squad lacked a ‘certain profile’ of player in midfield.
Tchouaméni could be well suited to play in Rangnick’s preferred 4-2-2-2 alongside either Fred or Scott McTominay. United have been crying out for a specialist number 6, who can shield the defence and control the midfield.
The Frenchman ticks all the boxes and should be at the top of United’s list next summer.
