De Gea is currently the second-highest paid player at the club, earning £375,000 per week, just behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Spaniard has been back to his best this season, saving United on multiple occasions.
His world class saves have earned his team plenty of points.
There has however been criticism from a section of the fanbase regarding his ability on the ball.
Some believe that United are held back in their build-up play due to the goalkeeper’s lack of capability to pass.
ESPN‘s Rob Dawson also reports that new manager Erik ten Hag has concerns regarding De Gea’s suitability to his system.
The Dutchman’s gameplay revolves around keeping control in possession – something which starts from the back.
United are not expected to address the goalkeeping situation this summer due to other priorities.
It will be fascinating to see how De Gea adapts to Ten Hag’s style of play.
If United are looking at future goalkeeping options, then there are quite a few notable candidates they could go for.
Genk’s Maarten Vandervordt and Saint Etienne’s Stefan Bajic are two great options, with high potential.

David De Gea gives damning verdict after Manchester United’s 1-0 loss against Crystal Palace – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea gave a harsh assessment of his team and season after another disappointing loss against Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils could not compete with the resilient Palace side who came away 1-0 winners.
Wilfred Zaha’s 37th-minute strike was enough for the hosts to come away with all the three points.
West Ham’s loss to Brighton means that United will play in the Europa League next season.
After the match De Gea spoke to the media and gave his thoughts on the season:
“The best thing that happened today is the season has finished.”
“I cannot wait. I am excited for the next season, new manager, and new players.”
“Hopefully, we will improve and put Manchester United in a better position. We need to trust in the future.”
“The new manager and staff are already looking for new players. Hopefully, they bring good ones with good character.”
“Ones who want to stay, stay at the club. Ones that don’t want to stay go out. You don’t have to stay here.”

Erik Ten Hag Concerned that David De Gea won’t Fit in his Style!

Manchester United News: The incoming Erik Ten Hag has a lot on his plate in terms of improving the team. But per the latest reports, the Dutchman is even concerned about David De Gea, probably United’s best player at the moment.
The 2021/22 season has been one to forget for the Manchester United board and the supporters. The Red Devils failed to hit the ground running and are hence set to finish out of the top four in the Premier League.
Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim manager Ralf Rangnick failed to ignite the side as United bowed out early from the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and the Champions League. Hence, they have now signed Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag to end their trophy drought.
The Manchester United board are set to offer Erik Ten Hag around £120-150 million in order to improve the squad. Hence we expect a lot of changes in the Red Devils’ squad before next season.

Manchester United News: David De Gea has arguably been the best player for the Red Devils in the 2021/22 season. If not for the Spaniard, the Manchester-based club would have surely conceded more goals.
But as per Caught Offside, Incoming manager Erik Ten Hag feels that David De Gea would not fit his team. The Ajax boss isn’t very sure if the Spanish goalkeeper would be able to adjust to his tactics next season.
According to the report, the 52-year-old manager wants his goalkeeper to play out from the back and be a sweeper-keeper when needed. But De Gea does not fit this mold.
The Spanish goalkeeper has committed a few errors when playing out from the back this season. The 31-year-old has never needed to be a sweeper-keeper with Manchester United or Atletico Madrid over the years.
David De Gea is known for his heroic saves and for moving swiftly around the goal rather than playing out from the back. Though the Spaniard is up there with Alisson and Ederson in terms of saves, the United keeper isn’t as good with his feet.
Will this lead to De Gea’s exit?

Manchester United News: Hence with Erik Ten Hag being unhappy with David De Gea, rumours are suggesting that this could lead to the Spaniard’s exit. But this looks unlikely at the moment.
Dean Henderson, the second-choice goalkeeper is set to be leaving Manchester United in the summer and hence the club could sign a replacement nevertheless. Owing to this, it is unlikely that the club would want David De Gea to leave as well.
Other positions need more attention at the moment and hence it is unlikely that Erik Ten Hag would use the funds to sign another goalkeeper. With all this in mind, we expect the Spaniard to stay in Manchester for at least another season.

Match report: Everton 1-0 Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have dropped points once again in the Premier League as they lost 1-0 on the road to relegation battling Everton.
United started off well with Marcus Ashford keen to prove himself and his first chance came following a Bruno Fernandes free-kick. It came out to Rashford just outside the area who fired it towards goal but Pickford made a great save.
Rashford had a chance again, getting in behind the defenders he got a clean header towards the bottom corner, it bounced just in front of Pickford but he got down low to push it out.
Though they were good going forward, United needed to tidy up their passing.
Despite all of United’s chances, it was Everton who made the breakthrough, Anthony Gordon’s shot was deflected in by Harry Maguire who is having an abysmal season.
United tried to respond with Ronaldo making a good run on the left but his subsequent shot was blocked.
At the other end, Lindelof left a ball that bounced kindly into the path of Richarlison who took a shot that was fantastically tipped over the bar by De Gea to keep the score at 1-0. It was a goalkeeping masterclass at both ends.
United had work to do in the second half to turn this around. It wasn’t a bad performance but they needed to capitalise on their chances.
The first clear chance after the restart came for Rashford. With Pickford in no man’s land, Rashford was running onto a glorious ball but he failed to connect with it and it bounced wide.
Everton meanwhile, were playing confidently. When United were on the attack the Toffees defended resolutely – there looked to be no way through for the Reds.
Crunching tackles were coming in from both sides, Pogba was shown a yellow for a foul on Gordon whilst Gordon was shown a yellow moments later for his foul on Sancho.
United kept knocking on the door though and Wan Bissaka found himself six yards from the goal when a cross floated into him. However, Everton players were queuing up to make the block.
At the death, Ronaldo had a wonderful chance, smashing it goalwards from inside the box but Pickford was there again.
It was a result that hammered the nail in the coffin of Manchester United’s hopes for Champions League football next year.
Team: de Gea, Telles, Maguire, Wan Bissaka, Fred (Pogba 36), Matic (Mata 64), Ronaldo, Rashford (Elanga 64), Fernandes, Sancho, Lindelof
