Manchester United chiefs to blame for failure

Manchester United star Donny van de Beek likely won’t still be at the club when the January transfer window deadline passes and that hasn’t really upset fans too much.

Many want the talented Dutchman to succeed at the club but most want to see him just get game time, even if it’s somewhere else.

Lots of rumours and reports have been written on Van de Beek of late attempting to justify why he’s failed to impress at United and why he’s being sent away.

This is despite Ralf Rangnick not signing a much-needed midfielder and the switch to his 4-3-3 formation that requires depth.

Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Fred, and Scott McTominay are the German boss’ options for the engine room so it makes sense he would need a sixth in Van de Beek.

Instead, the former Ajax man has hardly been used even in Rangnick’s short reign so far and is being allowed to leave on loan.

Excuses or lies?

The excuses made are that Van de Beek has been unable to handle the physicality of the Premier League and lacks the tactical IQ to fulfil his role in United’s midfield.

It seems strange to suggest the skilled playmaker isn’t big enough given he’s larger than the likes of Fred and isn’t afraid to get stuck into a tackle either.

He was specifically put on a program to gain muscle and he succeeded in doing so. So what went wrong since?

Van de Beek frequently played in a 4-3-3 formation during his days with Ajax and so that seems to be an unfounded argument either.

The bigger question here is why was a large amount of money invested in him if the club’s chiefs feel this way about him?

Who failed Donny?

Manchester United’s recruitment team must have done a huge disservice to themselves and Van de Beek if that’s the case.

Who scouted him then suggested him then allowed the transfer to go through?

Unfortunately, United’s players or staff don’t seem to be the only ones leaking lineups or information or rumours. It appears the board and the ‘chiefs’ are doing so too.

Frankly, it’s disgraceful behaviour all around but it’s difficult to blame the players for leaking information to protect themselves when those that hire them indirectly attack them through the media.

The large majority of publications or sections of the media avoid blaming the decision-makers at the club, often choosing to focus on the manager and/or the players.

Who wanted Van de Beek?

There were suggestions very early on that Van de Beek wasn’t Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s signing and rather one the board made, in anticipation of Paul Pogba‘s departure.

Not only did the World Cup winner not leave that summer but he will likely depart for free later this year.

Pogba also suffered with numerous injuries since and yet Van de Beek hasn’t featured as his ‘replacement’.

The board made a decision thinking they were being smart by getting ahead of things but instead it’s been exposed as poor planning.

Now United could be without either midfielder and rather than needing to sign one midfielder, they might have to sign three this summer.

Van de Beek was sold a dream and although he played a small role in it turning into a nightmare, most of the blame lies firmly at the board’s doors.

Donny van de Beek sends Everton message after Erik ten Hag addressed his Man Utd future

Manchester United News: After his loan stay with Everton came to an end, Donny van de Beek issued a message to the club’s supporters.

Following the end of the Premier League season, Van de Beek will return to Manchester United to work under his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

After sliding down the pecking order under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, the Dutch midfielder joined Everton on loan for the remainder of the season in January.

For the Toffees, the 25-year-old made five starts in seven Premier League games. He scored once in a 5-1 loss at Arsenal on Sunday. He played 484 minutes in total for Everton, just a few minutes more than he did for United in the first half of the season.

Van van Beek loved his time at Everton under Lampard’s leadership, despite his minimal personal influence. “Not the way we planned to end the season,” he commented on Instagram, “but we already met our goal a few days ago.”

“I’d like to express my gratitude to all of the players, staff, and, most importantly, the fans who supported us through good and bad times. Toffees, up!”

With a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on Thursday, Everton secured their Premier League survival for another season. Despite being certain of survival, Lampard made numerous changes to his starting lineup for the season’s last game on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.

After starting the game on the bench, Van de Beek came on in the 37th minute for Abdoulaye Doucoure. Lewin’s tap-in just before half-time made it 2-1, but Arsenal dominated the second half.

Erik Ten Hag is eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Dutchman.

Van de Beek will now return to his parent club, where Ten Hag awaits him, following a little sabbatical. At Ajax, Van de Beek played 175 times and helped the club reach the Champions League semi-final in 2019.

His £40 million move to United in the summer of 2020 hasn’t gone according to the plan. However, Ten Hag’s appointment at Old Trafford provides him with a fresh start. The 52-year-old is confident in his ability to extract the greatest performance from the midfielder.

What did Ten Hag say?

Ten Hag was asked whether he was looking forward to working with Van de Beek again during his first press conference as United manager. He responded, “Of course. At Ajax at the time, we had a wonderful squad. He and I had a fantastic friendship. Of course, I hope to see him on the field again.”

Ten Hag left Ajax six weeks early to join United, who finished sixth in the Premier League with 58 points from 38 games. The players were scheduled to return for pre-season training on July 4, as exclusively reported by Mirror Football, but Ten Hag wants some of them to report for duty the week of June 20.

Manchester United receive massive summer spending boost

Manchester United news: The Red Devils are likely to have a major overhaul of their squad under new manager Erik ten Hag.

United have not specifically set a budget ahead of the summer, but there are claims that they will give the Dutchman £200 for signing new players.

The Red Devils have overspent in the transfer market in recent years. They paid hefty fees to sign Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, and Jadon Sancho, among others, but they failed to justify their price tag.

Erik ten Hag will have a massive task to fix the Red Devils’ flawed transfer policy this summer. He needs to establish long-term thinking to buy blueprints like other successful clubs.

The Red Devils are expected to save up to £50 million on player wages annually as Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, and Lee Grant will be out of contract in the summer.

United are looking to add a new defensive midfielder, a forward, and a centre-back to their squad this summer. They will also explore the possibility of upgrading their full-back position.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick recommended signing at least two forwards and a backup goalkeeper if Dean Henderson leaves at the end of the season.

The Red Devils currently have a number of players in their squad who will leave at the end of the season and any funds raised from their outings are likely to be invested back into the squad as well.

Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have reportedly informed their teammates about their desire to leave. The Red Devils are also open to selling Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan-Bassiaka. There is also uncertainty over the future of Marcus Rashford.

Jaap Stam backs Donny Van de Beek

Donny Van de Beek has struggled since joining the Red Devils from Ajax in 2020. The Netherlands international has scored just two goals in 27 league appearances for the club so far.

United loaned him out to Everton in January and he is likely to leave the club permanently in the summer. However, former United defender Jaap Stam backs Donny Van de Beek to succeed at Old Trafford.

He said:‘I think Donny is a good player, we’ve seen him in Holland and when he was at United he didn’t always get the opportunity to play. It could be possible that when Donny comes back in, he’s going to perform next season, but it’s very important for him as to who he’s going to play within the midfield.
