Dusan Vlahovic

Man United set to miss out on both Dusan Vlahovic and Julian Alvarez – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are in danger of losing out on three of the hottest young strikers in world football, leaving themselves reliant on the aging forward line of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani.

Much has been written about their pursuit of Erling Haaland, from narrowly missing out on his signature in January 2020 when he moved to Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg, to the present day.

However, recent reports have claimed that the Norwegian has his heart set on joining Real Madrid when his €75 million release clause becomes active in June. United for their part are reported to have admitted defeat and dropped interest.

The hottest property on the Italian market right now is Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic. The 21-year-old is Serie A’s top goalscorer this season and is also available for €75 million. Unlike Haaland, he could be sold in this window as Fiorentina look to secure a deal ‘in the slipstream’ of all the activity around Haaland, to quote The Independent’s Miguel Delaney.

But despite initial reports linking United with an interest, Arsenal seem to be the only English club seriously pursuing him in this window.

The Gunners are pushing for a top four finish and with the disciplinary problems surrounding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a striker is one of their top priorities.

The issue for United is that if they do not act now, they will miss the boat if, as expected, Arsenal make their move.

‘While every club in Europe wants to sign [Haaland] this summer, only one will win and that is currently expected to be Real Madrid. Several top clubs could subsequently turn their attention to Vlahovic,’ Delaney writes.

‘By then, Arsenal could well be a Champions League club again too, but Vlahovic’s arrival this month would undoubtedly help those chances.’

United would also be wise to consider that the top four spot that Arsenal are gunning for is one that they themselves hope to clinch. It could be a mistake to allow a rival to strengthen with such a strong, young, talented forward to help them achieve that aim, especially when United themselves will desperately need such a player in six months’ time.

Another ship that may be sailing without a red flag on the mast is that of River Plate’s Julian Alvarez.

Another talented 21 year old who also finished his league as top goalscorer, Alvarez is considerably cheaper than Vlahovic at €20 million. United were strongly rumoured to be about to trigger his release clause in this window but those rumours have also subsided.

The latest report from Argentina (Olé, via Tuttosport) claims that ‘Napoli, Atalanta and Nice: these are, at the moment, the only three clubs really interested in Julián Álvarez.’

As we discussed here earlier today, fans had hoped that this window would see a lot of outgoing activity as well as one or two fresh faces coming in as the Red Devils push for a top four finish. As things stand, it is looking as if those hopes could be dashed.

Alexander Isak

Can the Gunners Sign Luka Jovic, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or Alexander Isak Before Next Monday?

Arsenal News: With just a week left in January, the Gunners have still not completed the signing of a striker. Hence they are still trying to sign either Luka Jovic, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or Alexander Isak before the transfer period ends.

Mikel Arteta’s side primarily focused on Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window. Owing to this, they had even placed a transfer bid of €60 million for the striker.

But Dusan Vlahovic does not seem very interested in moving to North London. The Serbian instead is eyeing a move to Juventus, hence it looks unlikely that Arsenal will be able to sign him in January.

Arsenal do have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, and Edward Nketiah in their ranks. But the Gabonese striker may himself be heading out in January. Meanwhile, Lacazette and Nketiah’s contracts expire in the summer.

Will Arsenal be able to sign a striker in January?

Arsenal News: Can the Gunners sign Luka Jovic, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or Alexander Isak before next Monday?

Arsenal have failed to score in their last four games. Owing to this, they have been knocked out of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup by Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, respectively.

Mikel Arteta’s side had risen to the 4th spot in the Premier League owing to their excellent form in January. But a defeat to Manchester City and a draw against Burnley has dropped them to 6th place in the standings.

Hence, keeping this in mind, Mikel Arteta has made it a priority to sign a striker in the next few days. With Dusan Vlahovic looking unlikely, Arsenal should consider the other available options.

Can the Gunners sign Luka Jovic, Alexander Isak, or Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Among the three, Luka Jovic looks to be the likeliest player that Arsenal could sign. Real Madrid have themselves approached the Gunners about the Serbian’s services on a loan deal.

As per reports, Real Madrid are ready to offer Luka Jovic on loan until the end of the season. The striker has made 11 substitute appearances in LaLiga and has scored just 1 goal. Hence, signing him could be a major gamble for Arsenal.

The second option that Arsenal has is that of Real Sociedad striker, Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker has reportedly been a long-term target for Arsenal, with the striker having even expressed his interest to play in the Premier League.

Isak scored 17 goals in 34 LaLiga appearances last season. But has only been able to score 4 goals in the first half of the 2021/22 LaLiga season. To add to this, Arsenal would have to pay more than €40m to sign the Swedish striker on a permanent deal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the final option with Premier League pedigree. The Everton man has just returned from an injury and has scored 3 goals in 6 Premier League appearances this season. The Englishman could cost Arsenal about £50m in transfer fee if they go for him.

The Gunners Target Luka Jovic

Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners are finding it difficult to persuade Dusan Vlahovic to join them in January. Hence they are now looking for a short-term loan move to Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic.

The Gunners have been in pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic since the start of the January transfer window. Owing to this, Arsenal had also placed a bid of €60m. Fiorentina accepted the bid.

But Dusan Vlahovic and his representatives are not very keen on a move to North London. As per the Fiorentina sporting director, Vlahovic’s representatives are not even responding to complete negotiations.

As per reports, Dusan Vlahovic has rather set his heart on a move to Juventus. Owing to this, he could wait until the summer transfer window before joining the Serie A giants.

Could Luka Jovic join Arsenal in January?

Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners target Luka Jovic as Dusan Vlahovic prefers moving to Juventus

As per The Sun, It looks likely that Arsenal will not be able to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January. Owing to this, the Gunners are now looking at the possibility of signing his national teammate Luka Jovic from Real Madrid.

The report states that Real Madrid has informed Arsenal that they are willing to let Luka Jovic leave on loan. Hence, helping Arsenal to cater to their short-term attacking crisis.

Real Madrid and Arsenal have shared a good relationship in recent years. Mesut Özil, Martin Ødegaard, and Dani Ceballos have made the switch from Madrid to London in the past.

Luka Jovic has not had the best of times at Real Madrid this season. The Serbian who is behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order has made 11 substitute appearances and has just scored 1 goal for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid had signed Luka Jovic from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019. The striker had a stellar two seasons in Germany, scoring 36 goals in 75 appearances for Frankfurt.

The Serbian International has not gotten enough chances for Real Madrid. Hence he was sent out on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt last January as well. He scored 4 goals in 18 appearances during his loan spell.

Any other targets for the Gunners?

Apart from Luka Jovic and Dusan Vlahovic, the Gunners have also been interested in Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker had a good 2020/21 season but has failed to replicate his form in this term.

Mikel Arteta himself said recently “Any player that comes in must be able to take us to the next level. We want much better standards than we already have.” Hence it has to be seen who the Gunners would pick in the January transfer window.

Vlahovic Melo and Turner feature in Arsenal roundup

Arsenal get Vlahovic boost, Arsenal sent message about Turner and Arteta has update after Melo offer in Arsenal roundup…

Arsenal transfer target Matt Turner is as good as any goalkeeper in the Premier League, according to his coach Kevin Hitchcock

Bernd Leno is understandably keen on playing more football after being usurped as Arsenal’s No 1 by Aaron Ramsdale, and that has led to many reports in the media which have suggested that he could leave the club this transfer window

And if the German was to leave, Turner appears to be their top target to replace him, with reports suggesting that the Gunners board have already made an offer to bring him to the Premier League.

And It could be a masterstroke from Mikel Arteta if Hitchcock’s comments are anything to go by, Speaking on a feature produced by NBC Sports Boston, Hitchcock has no doubt Turner has the quality to not only play in the Premier League, but also match the performances of each top goalkeeper in the division.

“Like I said to the people here, he can play Premier League easily,” Hitchcock said.

“I’ve worked with a lot of top Premier League goalkeepers, and he’s up there with the top three I’ve worked with.

“I know at this moment, he is as good as any top Premier League goalkeeper.”

Ramsdale is a brilliant stopper that is easily the number one at the Emirates, so the Gunners do not need to splash alot of cash and bring in somebody that could upset the dynamics at the Emirates

Turner will have alot to prove at the club, but he has been impressing and the Gunners clearly see something in him which will make them believe he is the ideal man to replace Leno if he leaves the club

This will be a massive step up though, and surely a dream move for the man to make if it happens

Mikel Arteta is unsure if Arsenal will be able bring in new signings before the January transfer window closes, with reports they have agreed personal terms with Arthur Melo

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta NEEDS to strengthen his Arsenal squad over the course of the transfer window as a number of injuries and Covid-19 outbreaks have devastated his Gunners squad.

That has led to many reports that he will look to improve the squad and add another defender, midfielder and striker to the attack in order to keep in that chase to get back inside the top sour spots

The Gunners have also held talks with Arthur’s agent and are keen to sign the 25-year-old on loan before the January transfer window closes.

Arthur has already agreed personal terms, according to reports, with Arsenal and wants to make the move to the Premier League for the rest of the season in order to test himself in English football and try to reignite his career.

Juventus, however, have been reluctant to give the deal the green light without bringing in a replacement.

But speaking after the goalless draw with Burnley on Sunday, Arteta indicated the club are no closer to making additions to the squad.

‘In this market things are complicated,’ Arteta told BBC

He added in his post-match press conference: ‘Well we are certainly trying but I don’t know if we are going to be able to do it. Let’s see.

‘It was what we planned but the market is difficult. It’s a lot to manage and we have to make the right decisions with players that we believe are going to help us.’

All these top players linked with a move to the Emirates and so many fans getting excited about possible deals, but again, Arsenal just take too long and end up missing out

Dusan Vlahovic is reportedly ignoring Fiorentina’s calls after Arsenal’s reported £50.1million bid for the player.

Now it is no secret that Mikel Arteta needs to add a new striker to that attack of his as he does not have the squad to get back inside those Champions League places by the end of the seasons

Fans know all the troubles that Arteta is having with his strikers, and that has led to many reports in the media that a deal for Vlahovic is the Gunners number one priority this window.

The big striker is regarded as one of the best in Europe right now and is currently the top scorer in Seria A, with his performances alerting a number of top clubs to his services

Now after reports the Gunners submitted a £50 million offer to get a transfer deal done, Viola’s CEO Joe Barrone has accused Vlahovic and his representatives of refusing contact with him and the club.

Barone told DAZN: “We’ve not received any official bid for Vlahovic as things stand.

“We’re open to discuss and negotiate – but we want Vlahovic and his agent to be clear on the future, as they’re not answering. We need to talk about it.

“[We want] Clarity from the player and his entourage. Fiorentina have a future, a group, a support and a city that must focus on this season

“I would like to talk about Fiorentina because Fiorentina plays and I want to talk about the group that deserves everything that is happening, starting with the club.

“Every day we talk about Vlahovic. On this issue Fiorentina has not received any offers. We are open to everything but we want clarity.”
