Kevin De Bruyne States the Importance of Winning the Champions League

Manchester City News: The Sky Blues have never won the UEFA Champions League. Hence Kevin De Bruyne has now stated how important the title is to change the people’s perspectives.

Pep Guardiola’s side had a historic run in last season’s UEFA Champions League. The Sky Blues reached the final of the historic competition for the first time in their history.

Manchester City started as the favourites against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea. But things did not go in their favour as the Blues beat them 1-0 courtesy of a Kai Havertz goal, winning their second Champions League title.

But it seems that the Sky Blues have put this disappointment behind them. Pep Guardiola’s team has reached the semi-finals once again. With a 4-3 win against Real Madrid in the first leg, they are now the favourites to qualify for another Champions League final.

Manchester City News: Kevin De Bruyne gave an interview before the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie. City will have a 4-3 advantage before kickoff at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

As per the Guardian, The Sky Blues midfielder stated that it was very important for the club to “change the narrative”. De Bruyne added that this was only possible if Manchester City manage to win the UEFA Champions League.

Kevin De Bruyne said, “I think it would change the perspective from outside. As a player, you want to win trophies and we want to win this one. The fact we’ve been fighting for numerous years and getting to the latter stages means we’ve been doing really well.”

The Manchester City midfielder said that not winning the competition would not change his perspective of himself as a player. But the Belgian did add, “We have not won it but winning it would change the narrative.”

Kevin De Bruyne has been very vital for Manchester City since joining the club in 2015. The Belgian playmaker has scored 82 goals and provided 100+ assists in 302 games for the Cityzens.

The midfielder was forced off with an injury in the UEFA Champions League final last season. A clash with Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger had fractured a bone on his face. Hence winning the title a year later would certainly be retribution for the Belgian.

Lionel Messi’s dad makes Barcelona return claim after nightmare PSG season

Barcelona News: Lionel Messi’s father has stated that he “hopes” his son returns to Barcelona “someday” after leaving the Spanish giants for Paris Saint-Germain barely nine months ago.

Messi has struggled since joining PSG on a spectacular free transfer last summer. He and Barcelona failed to agree on a new contract and he left the club. The 34-year-old has a decent 11 goals and 13 assists for the French club. However, these numbers are nothing in comparison to what he put up with Barcelona.

Messi has also received a nasty welcome from his own fans. PSG fans booed and jeered him and some of his teammates in the aftermath of PSG’s humiliating Champions League loss to Real Madrid in March.

Throughout the season, rumours have surfaced that Argentina captain Lionel Messi is unhappy in Paris. It is stated that he and his family have struggled to adjust to life in the French metropolis.

All of this has fueled the conjecture that Messi’s stay at PSG will be brief. The Argentinian has one year left on his contract and the option to extend it until 2024.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has sparked renewed curiosity about his future plans. There are rumours of a move to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami circulating.

Messi has made no secret of his love for Barcelona. He rose through the ranks to become one of the greatest players of all time.

What did Messi’s father and Laporta say?

The player’s father, Jorge, was asked about his son putting on the Barca shirt again by the Jijantes FC Twitch account and responded, “I hope it [happens] someday.”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has also mentioned the possibility of Messi coming to Barcelona, but only as a visitor to see the refurbished Camp Nou.

My communication with Messi is not frequent,” Laporta said earlier this year, but I’d love to have Leo here with us during the inauguration of the new stadium.”

His home will always be Camp Nou. His transfer to PSG? We completed our tasks [last summer].” Laporta continued: I haven’t heard anything from Messi or his representatives about a possible return to Barcelona. We will not be raising this problem as of right now.”

PSG trounced Montpellier 4-0 in their penultimate game of the season, having already clinched the Ligue 1 title. Messi scored twice. In their final game of the season, the champions meet Metz.

Mo Salah Calls Himself “The Best In The World”

Liverpool talisman Mo Salah has now called himself the BEST IN THE WORLD in his position currently. The statement has come in after his FWA Player Of The Year award win, ahead of the FA Cup and Champions League final. The attacker is also leading the Premier League Golden Boot for the season. The Reds are doing well as a team and will want to end the campaign strongly, with Jurgen Klopp keen on winning more trophies.

It has been a good year for the Merseyside outfit so far. Things can only get better if they win any of the two cups, in which they are in the finals if not both. A league title win is also a possibility still, though it would take Manchester City dropping points for that to happen.

With that being said, such a statement has come at a delicate time. Say in hindsight things don’t go well for Liverpool, Mo Salah could be trolled on Social Media a lot. That is not something that you want happening at any point in time.

After having won the League Cup, in two more cup finals and also a contender for the Premier League, Mo Salah is now starting to feel it. In the latest interview with beIN SPORTS, he said, “If you compare me with any player in my position, not only in my team but in the world, you will find that I am the best. Always focus on my work and do my best and my numbers are the best proof of my words. I like to always create a new challenge for myself. To work in a different way and to make a difference and that is my duty.”

Well, there is no doubt that Mo Salah is a top player. However, right now the time is to focus on the two cup finals that they will be playing and see what happens in the league. Lots to win for Liverpool once again and it will be interesting to see how things develop from here on.

Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui might face the sack in the summer

Football News: Julen Lopetegui, who was named to Manchester United’s coaching shortlist, is expected to leave Sevilla at the end of the current season.

Lopetegui received a contract extension until the summer of 2024 earlier this season. He is well-liked in the game and was one of four candidates selected for the United post, which was ultimately given to Ajax coach Erik ten Hag.

The Spaniard took himself out of contention for the Old Trafford job in March, indicating a long-term commitment to Sevilla.

However, following a prolonged period of poor play, it is now unclear whether the club will keep the coach after this season. A meeting between the parties is planned for the end of the season.

The former Spain manager won the Europa League trophy in his first season with the Andalusian club. He is on the verge of steering his side to the Champions League for the third consecutive season. However, the second half of the season’s results and performances have been concerning.

Sevilla was just a point behind Real Madrid during the halfway point of the La Liga season. They signed Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona from Porto and forward Anthony Martial on loan from Manchester United. There was genuine hope that the team may win their second league title and first since 1946.

On the other hand, Sevilla has won just four of their 16 La Liga games since January, reducing them to a fight for a top-four finish. They can seal with just one point from their final two games. In the Europa League, they lost to West Ham in the Round of 16 stages.

The fans are dissatisfied with recent results and performances. They believe that the team is falling short of expectations.

Despite having the greatest defensive record in La Liga, they have only scored 51 goals in 36 league matches. This is the fewest of any of the top five clubs in the league and 22 fewer than Real Madrid.

Recent home draws against relegation-threatened Cadiz and Mallorca have added to Lopetegui’s pressure, with Sevilla supporters voicing their unhappiness. His position is currently being considered by the club.

Sevilla’s board of directors is said to be split on the former Real Madrid coach’s future. Some believe he is still a top-level coach who can turn around his team’s poor run, which still appears to assure Champions League football. Given that he has two years left on his contract, any dismissal would be costly.

However, there is an acknowledgment that recent results and performances have been far below average. There is no shortage of disappointment that a squad with so much financial backing appears to have plateaued.
