Jesse Lingard: Newcastle United step up interest in Manchester United man – Man United News And Transfer News

Published

Manchester United may reportedly offload Jesse Lingard to Newcastle United, as the latest reports continue to pour in in regards to his future.

The Peoples Person previously covered the Manchester Evening News report on how Newcastle were working on a six-month loan deal for Lingard and they were willing to pay his full wages.

According to The Telegraph, United rejected that approach as they’re hesitant to let him leave on loan at this point.

It’s understood offers from West Ham and Tottenham were rebuffed as Ralf Rangnick’s side didn’t want to strengthen top-four rivals.

Although Newcastle aren’t top-four rivals, it’s said a loan fee is needed to potentially convince the Red Devils to let him go.

According to The Times, the Northern club are open to paying a 2m loan fee and are even interested in signing him permanently, though perhaps at the end of his contract.

The report claims Manchester United’s fears have to do with potential Covid outbreaks but Newcastle see Lingard as crucial to helping the team find their form in front of goal again.

Sky Sports’ Pete Graves claimed a permanent deal is possible if a big offer is made for the versatile attacker as United would sell for the right price.

Lingard’s ability to play in multiple positions surely would have impressed Newcastle, who are seemingly keen on adding firepower to their team.

Their new owners also appear to be on the lookout for talented Englishman who have experience in top-level football and who are willing to commit to their long-term project.

Lingard is said to be keen on regular minutes in order to break his way into England’s team for the World Cup later this year.

Manchester United news: Jesse Lingard joined the Red Devils’ youth academy in 2000. He worked through the club’s youth levels to make his professional debut in 2011.

He has played 149 league games for the Red Devils so far, scoring 20 goals. Lingard has won one FA Cup, one EFL Cup, one FA Community Shield and one UEFA Europa League with the club.

However, he struggled in recent seasons, starting just two league games this campaign. He spent last season on loan at West Ham United and was linked with a permanent move to the Hammers during last summer’s transfer window.

The 29-year old is currently in the final year of his contract at the Manchester-based club. He is likely to leave Old Trafford as a free agent at the end of the season.

According to ESPN, Newcastle United are unlikely to sign Jesse Lingard in the summer due to his wage demands.

The England international is reportedly demanding £150,000 per week, along with huge sign-on incentives. The Newcastle owners are not ready to meet his demands to sign him on a Bosman deal in the summer.

The North-East club, however, were desperate to sign the Manchester United youth graduate on loan during the January window. But the Magpies refused to pay the £16 million loan fee as demanded by United.

Eddie Howe will look to bolster his attacking options in the summer, with Jesse Lingard among his top options, along with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, Lingard also has plenty of other options, with West Ham United, AC Milan, and PSG all showing interest in signing him in recent weeks.

10 Players expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer

The Red Devils have appointed Erik ten Hag as their new manager to take charge from next season. The Dutchman will likely clear a lot of the deadwood in the summer to make space for new arrivals.

It is reported that up to 10 players are expected to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window. Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Lee Grant are currently in the final year of their respective contracts at the club. They are expected to move for a greener pasture in the summer.

Apart from that, there are also doubts about the futures of Dean Henderson, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Donny van der Beek at the club.

Manchester United News: Ralf Rangnick has defended his decision to leave Jesse Lingard on the bench for Manchester United’s final home match of the season.

Lingard’s contract at United expires next month. The midfielder is expected to leave, despite his absence from Monday’s 3-0 win against Brentford.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick benched the 29-year-old, prompting his brother, Louie Scott, to call United “classless” on Instagram.

Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic, two more expected departures, started the game. Whereas Edinson Cavani and Phil Jones came off the bench.

Rangnick justified his choice today, saying, “To begin with, Jesse has played significantly more games than he used to in the last couple of weeks under my tenure.”

Second, on the day of the game against Chelsea, he requested that I excuse him from the game and training the next day due to personal family obligations. I had to choose between Edinson Cavani and Jesse, or the young Alejandro Garnacho.

“I made the decision to call Edinson in. Someone might have asked if it was impolite not to bring on Cavani or Garnahco if I hadn’t brought him on. After two subs, you must decide, which will not be popular with everyone, but it is a necessary aspect of the game.

“To be honest, I don’t read much [on social media]. I haven’t had time to read in the last six months. I’m not on Instagram, Facebook, or any other social media platform.”

“My main goal has been to help the team grow. With social media these days, there’s always someone publishing something, and it’s crucial not to pay attention to it.”

What was Lingard’s brother’s response?

“20 years of blood, sweat, and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goals, not even a farewell,” Lingard’s brother posted on Instagram. “It’s no surprise it’ll be the Conference League next year,” Scott wrote.

“It’s fine to attack players during celebrations when the club is sold to the Super League. Busby Babes, the Class of 92 is led by people who have never heard of the offside trap. It’s shabby, and the fans should be aware. Godbless, and goodnight!

Been there since nine years of age and didn’t even get a send-off!!! Well done bro your family is proud.”

Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick gives Manchester United 3-2 win over Norwich City – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have beaten Norwich at home in a hard fought game that could be crucial in the race for top four.

With rivals Tottenham and Arsenal both losing, United had a chance to capitalise on their misfortune but they almost threw it away.

As the fans slowly filtered in following the protests against the Glazers, the game got under way with Lingard making some good runs and passes forward in the opening two minutes.

At the other end Pukki had a chance within the opening three minutes. He made a good run and took it first time, but de Gea had come out and made himself really big, saving United from an early deficit.

Elanga controlled the ball well in the box and got a difficult shot away over his head but it lacked power and found Krul’s gloves.

However, in the 8th minute Norwich decided to play out from the back but Elanga put pressure on the defenders and stole it from the feet of Gibson in his own area. He passed it to Ronaldo who was waiting in the middle and he powered it into the open goal.

Norwich tried to get straight back into it, having a good spell of possession in their attacking half.

Lingard, who was enjoying a rare start under Rangnick, was involved in everything positive that United did.

It was end to end stuff as guarding the edge of United’s box, Pogba intercepted the ball and launched a counter attack, playing in Elanga who had made a great run.

United stayed hungry with Lingard getting a shot away only to be denied by a brilliant save from Krul. The subsequent corner was delivered into the box by Telles and it was Ronaldo once again who rose above the rest to head it into the back of the goal.

But The Canaries weren’t down and out as they looked to launch a comeback beginning with a free kick just outside the box however it was off target and didn’t trouble de Gea.

On the stroke of half time they got one back, Pukki with the pass across the penalty area where Dowell was waiting to nod it in past de Gea.

The second half got under way with Ronaldo in search of his 50th club hat-trick and Lingard still with a point to prove.

For all their positive work going forward, it was all undone in one swift move from Norwich. A perfectly timed pass allowed Pukki through on goal and he calmly slotted it past de Gea.

Rasica thought he’d got Norwich’s third moments later with a lovely strike but somehow de Gea got down to it to push it just wide of the post.

United were taking too long on the ball and couldn’t get their shots away.

When it looked like United were on the back foot, Elanga won a free kick in a dangerous area. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to take it with one thing on his mind! He unleashed a rocket of a shot which Krul got two hands to but such was the power that he couldn’t keep it out. Ronaldo had done it, his 50th club hat trick!

United were rejuvenated, Mata making a huge difference since he came onto the pitch was creating chances for the forwards.

Norwich were knocking on the door towards the end but United held on to clinch the three points, with Ronaldo taking the match ball.

Team: de Gea, Dalot, Telles (Mata 74), Maguire, Lindelof, Pogba (Rashford 74), Lingard (Matic 64), Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho, Ronaldo
