Guardiola Wants FC Barcelona Midfielder

Manchester City News: The Club have concluded yet another successful business deal with Spanish club FC Barcelona this January transfer window. The Cityzens have successfully sold Spanish international Ferran Torres to Barcelona for £46.7 million.

This concludes yet another piece of transfer between the two teams who have good relations. Moreover, last season as well Manchester City provided Barcelona with Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia. However, there is still potential for more business to be done.

FC Barcelona is currently looking for an experienced defender to fill in their ranks. Their defensive line is currently old and one which needs balance to challenge for titles. With Gerard Pique ageing and no other world class defender in their ranks, they need reinforcements.

And hence for this they have targeted the likes of Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte. The Spanish centre back is a top class player and can definitely solve many of their problems. But once again the problem remains the high price tag of Laporte.

However, this issue can be solved using the likes of a certain Dutch international. Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has made it no secret that he would like to deploy Frenkie de Jong in his team.

According to a new report by El Nacional, Pep Guardiola will be willing to let go of Aymeric Laporte given that De Jong can come in return. This can be a brilliant arrangement which will save both teams from further expenses.

Manchester City can definitely do well with the likes of a player like De Jong, whose playing style is similar to what Guardiola demands. Possession based play with a deep holding midfielder just in front of the defensive line.

Manchester City News: Benjamin Mendy shifted to a NEW JAIL amid security issues

Manchester City left back, Benjamin Mendy has been shifted to a new jail amid concerns over his security. Mendy, who was being housed in the Category B-HMP Altcourse in Liverpool, has now been shifted to a new jail in Manchester, the Strangeways, officially known as HMP Manchester.

Benjamin Mendy is currently under trial for nine counts of rape and one counts of sexual assault and molestation. According to an anonymous source, the new jail is rough and the inmates can cause problems to Mendy.

“He won’t know what’s hit him coming from Altcourse, which is a privately run prison. It’s one of the toughest jails in the country. His other problem will be the amount of Man United fans in there.”

“They will be screaming his name for weeks so he won’t be getting much sleep, especially as he’s charged with sex offences.”

“There are a lot of Blues fans there as well, but even the most avid will struggle to protect an alleged sex offender.”

Club receives shock update regarding Laporte

Barcelona have been dealt a big setback in their pursuit of Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte. The Premier League club refusing to trade the 27-year-old defender

A report from the Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona’s chances of signing Aymeric Laporte during the summer transfer window have been dashed.

City will not sell the 27-year-old defender to any prospective buyer. The reason being that he is an important player in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

He joined Manchester City from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018. Laporte has gone through his fair share of highs and lows during his time in the Premier League.

The player has spent the majority of his time with the Citizens as a first-choice centre-back. But he has fallen behind John Stones in the team’s pecking order, heading into the 2020/21 campaign.

That scenario has been rectified during the current campaign, as Laporte has appeared in 20 games for Manchester City across all competitions. At the same time, the 27-year-old has established himself as a regular member of Spain’s national team.

FC Barcelona Transfer News: Why Aymeric Laporte?

Barcelona’s interest is justified. Given that Eric Garcia has failed to make an impact since joining on a free transfer from City in the summer of 2021. With Gerard Pique nearing the conclusion of his brilliant career, it is in Barcelona’s best interests to make a centre-back acquisition.

The scenario surrounding the futures of Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti has increased the urgency with which the Blaugrana need to obtain the services of a central defender. Even if Barcelona have assessed Umtiti’s services to be surplus to needs. His compatriot could be sold in order to raise funds for movements during the summer transfer window.

Towards that aim, Laporte is a feasible target for Barcelona. The Blaugrana who are planning to sign the Manchester City defender in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have been dealt a big setback in their pursuit of the 27-year-old. Since Manchester City have stated that they would not sell him to any suitor, no matter how tempting the offer.

Manchester City’s chances of keeping hold of the Spanish international were likely to have been significantly improved regardless of the outcome of the transfer. Due to recent reports claiming that Laporte is not interested in joining Barcelona, the reason for this is unclear.

As a result, with the former Athletic Bilbao defender, unlikely to join Barcelona in the summer. It will be interesting to watch who emerges as the club’s next important defensive acquisition.

Additionally, it is also known that FC Barcelona have their eyes set on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. However, if they want to sign Haaland, they cannot afford to increase expenses on Laporte.

But there is a potential solution to that problem. Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of midfielder Frenkie de Jong and will be ready to let go of Laporte in exchange for the Dutch international.

Moreover, Pep Guardiola even asked about De Jong during talks for Ferran Torres. Hence, if FC Barcelona and Manchester City can come to a common table for Frenkie de Jong and Aymeric Laporte, a deal can be worked out.

Arsenal give tough competition to City

However, the race to sign Frenkie de Jong won’t be easy for Manchester City with Premier League club Arsenal also interested. Kevin Campbell has urged the club to sign the Barcelona man.

“I would like De Jong if you don’t mind. I would love to see him at Arsenal,” said Campbell.” I cannot see them moving him on because he has been phenomenal for them, he really has. He is the one player who really fit into Mikel Arteta’s squad.”

Would they want to do that deal? Barca want another striker now [Sergio] Aguero has retired. There is room for Aubameyang.

Listen, at the end of the day, if they want to do business and Aubameyang wants to go – do the business. Create some room on that wage bill.
