Fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial Sky interview – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United fans on social media have been reacting to Cristiano Ronaldo’s candid interview with Sky Sports yesterday.

The Portuguese legend said in the interview that ‘I don’t accept that our mentality be less than being in the top three in the Premier League.

‘I don’t want to be here to be in sixth place, or seventh place, or fifth place. I’m here to try to win, to compete.

‘I think to build up good things, sometimes you have to destroy a few things.

‘We are capable of changing things now. I know the way but I’m not going to mention it here because I don’t think it’s ethical on my part to say that.

‘What I can say is we can do better – all of us.’

He also said interim manager Ralf Rangnick needs to be given more time to implement his philosophy at the club.

‘Since he arrived I think in some points we are better, but he needs time. It’s not that easy to change the mentality of players and the way they play, the culture, the system like that. I believe that he is going to do a good job.’

Ronaldo also admitted that the season had been a difficult one.

‘Not easy to be honest,’ he said.

‘We changed Ole, then Carrick, then this new coach. It’s difficult when you change so much, it’s always tough.

“It’s always sad and tough. Ole used to play with me before and now he was the coach. A fantastic person. When he left everybody was sad, but it’s part of football.

‘When things don’t go the way the club wants, the club has to change. I was disappointed but we have to understand the club. It was difficult but life continues.’

The response from United fans was enthusiastic.

‘And this is clearly why this guy should be the captain,’ one fan tweeted.

‘Only if our English players had this mentality, we would be winning the league,’ said another.

Other comments included:

‘Can you shout louder Cristiano for the lazy players at the back!’

‘His mentality is what this club needed.’

‘Man he gets it.’

Manchester United News: Rangnick-Martial Saga

Manchester United News: Manchester United has turned into a circus in the last few years. The Red Devils have won a few trophies but the tantrums and beef of the players with managers are always doing the media round.

In the latest saga, it looks like it’s Anthony Martial vs Ralf Rangnick. The Frenchman has been on the sidelines and has openly expressed his desire to leave the club.

The former Monaco star posted on his Instagram Story: “I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.

“I’ve been here for 7 years, and I never disrespected and never will disrespect the club and the Fans.”

Manchester United News: What’s the story?

Manchester United News: Rangnick-Martial Saga.

Anthony Martial hasn’t been picked up by Ralf Rangnick in the squad since his agent talked about a move away. However, things have heated up between the interim manager and the former golden boy winner.

The mercurial winger has denied Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick’s claim through a social media post. The 63-year-old German stated that the 26-year-old turned down the offer to be included in their matchday team for the Premier League draw with Aston Villa.

Rangnick was talking to the press after United’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. The former manager informed the media that Martial declined the opportunity to be in the squad in the non-appearance of injured players Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The winger has expressed his desire to leave the club. The decision has been made known to the hierarchy as well as the manager. Martial thinks it’s the right time to change the club. He has not played since the 3-2 win over Arsenal on December 2 with Sevilla and Juventus are in the race to sign him.

United is looking to offload the winger but they don’t have the desired suitors for him in the market. Sevilla made an offer but United rejected it and the Juventus’s interest is genuine, but a bid hasn’t arrived from the Old Lady.

Manchester United News: What did Ralf have to say?

Rangnick was not a happy man after United blew away a 2-0 lead against Villa within 15 with 13 minutes remaining. The German was asked about the future of Martial and his continued absence.

“Yes, he didn’t want to be in the squad,” Rangnick said. “He would have been in the squad normally, but he didn’t want to and that was the reason why he didn’t travel with us yesterday.”

Martial was touted as the generational talent when he joined United in 2015 from Monaco. He was the most expensive teenager at that point in time. However, after his initial promise, Martial never reached the promised land. The France international will be a United player till 2024 at least as he is under contract.

Manchester United squad unhappy with ‘outdated and unliked’ Ralf Rangnick – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick seems to be locked in a permanent battle to win over the hearts and minds of the club’s dressing room.

It was recently revealed that up to 11 members of the Reds’ squad are disillusioned with life at Old Trafford and actively looking to quit the club.

The Daily Mirror today reports that Rangnick is an unpopular figure in the United dressing room and that players have serious concerns over his tactics.

A Mirror source with “a close connection” to the squad claims that the 63-year-old is widely regarded as being “outdated and out of his time.”

It’s heavily implied that the source of this bombshell news is a player, with them going on to say of the German, “He is so unpopular, we don’t like him.”

This latest report comes amid a near deluge of worrying stories about the current extent of unrest in the Red Devils’ dressing room.

It’s previously been claimed that the United squad are unhappy with Rangnick’s training methods and struggling to adapt to his tactical demands.

And the latest news will surely undermine United star Cristiano Ronaldo’s appeal for the former RB Leipzig coach to be given time to fully implement his vision at the club.

“He arrived five weeks ago, and he changed many things, but he needs time to put his ideas to the players,” Ronaldo recently told Sky Sports.

“Since he arrived, I think in some points we are better, but he needs time. It’s not that easy to change the mentality of players and the way they play, the system and the culture like that. I believe that he is going to do a good job.”

If this latest report is to be believed, it would appear that certain sections of the playing squad have already made their minds up that Rangnick was the wrong choice to steady the ship until the end of the season.

United fans will be desperately hoping that the club can sweep aside another week of negativity by putting in a decent performance against Aston Villa today.

Another sub-par performance would probably ensure another round of media claims and counter-claims, as the circus around the ailing giant shows little sign of abating.

Cristiano Ronaldo addresses Manchester United’s key problem this season – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up on where he feels the club should improve, in what was a sensational interview.

The Portuguese superstar joined last summer but it’s safe to say things haven’t gone according to plan since his return.

According to The Daily Mail, Ronaldo said: “I say we have a long way to improve because, for me, the most important thing is the mentality. To look at yourself and say, ‘I can do better’.

“For you to be professional, help the team, the right mentality, self-taught and positive. All these details depend on you, not the coaches, the fans or the press. If you are proud of yourself and you have dignity, you have to do it much more.”

The Daily Mail claim Ronaldo has been ‘baffled’ that his teammates don’t do extra fitness work like he does and has hinted the younger players aren’t listening to him.

Ronaldo said: “If I give you advice, even if you are younger than me, if you don’t implant that during your daily life, it will be difficult.

“I will be the No 1 to help. But if you don’t want my help, do your job, look for yourself, do your best to help the team.

“I can speak all day with that person but if it’s not coming from inside of you, it’s impossible. When I was 18, 19, 20, some older players spoke with me, but I put that as, ‘Cristiano, you have to improve’. ”

The Daily Mail also report that Ronaldo has complained privately, at least once, that he is one of the only players who do extra gym work before and after training.

Utdreport report that Fabrizio Romano said something along the lines of: “Jorge Mendes is not negotiating with any clubs for Cristiano Ronaldo to leave United in the summer. Ronaldo is not thinking about anything else apart from United. It’s only United at this point.”

The good news is that Ronaldo is here to stay but the bad news is he’s likely to leave if the club can’t reach his minimum expectations.

After all, the former Juventus man made the switch in the summer because he had hoped to push a team that finished in second place last season.

The desire was to prove to be the final piece of the jigsaw and get United a much-needed title win, particularly after the investments of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho too.

Unfortunately, Ralf Rangnick’s men have been far from the level needed to win trophies and fans have collectively complained of a poor attitude and mentality from the players.

It seems Ronaldo has somewhat gone public with his complaints and it will be interesting to see what type of reaction it will bring from his teammates.
