Fabregas claims Chelsea star Azpilicueta to join Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas claims Cesar Azpilicueta’s move from Chelsea to Barcelona is ‘almost done’.

Azpilicueta has been at Stamford Bridge since 2012 and has become a big part of why they have won so many trophies over the past few seasons, with his solid performances making him one of the best in the Premier League

But he is out of contract at the end of the season and has made no suggestion that he intends to extend his stay in west London.

The 32-year-old has no shortage of clubs interested in taking him on a free transfer, but Barcelona have emerged as the most likely option for the Spain international as they have been long-term admirers of the Spaniard

But Fabregas, who played alongside Azpilicueta at Chelsea and with Spain’s national side, says his former teammate is heading to Barca.

Speaking to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero on his Twitch show Jijantes, Fabregas said: ‘Azpi to Barca, they’re saying it’s almost done.’

When asked about his future this week, Azpilicueta refused to rule out the prospect of leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

‘I’m not going to speak about my future,’ the Spaniard said.

‘We are one day before the semi-final of the tournament.

‘Of course, I arrived in the summer of 2012 and I didn’t have kids. My kids were born in London and you know how I feel about Chelsea.

‘But I am not going to comment on my future.’

Be sad to see him leave, but maybe now is the right time as he is coming towards the back-end of his playing days and Chelsea are looking more to the future and where they want to be.

And sadly, the Spaniard is not part of those long-term plans

Tuchel hands Chelsea fans update on Captain Azpilicueta

Thomas Tuchel has opened up and admitted that Chelsea are still working on trying to hand Cesare Azpilicueta a new contract, with reports that he already has an agreement with Barcelona

Azpilicueta is a player that has been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks as indications suggest that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the current season.

The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to extend his deal into next season, and That leaves Azpilicueta free to leave in the summer transfer window. He has been linked with a return to Spain.

It has been claimed already that Azpilicueta has an agreement with Barcelona to make a move to the camp Nou on a two-year deal, and with Fellow defenders Rudiger and Christensen also looking set to leave, Chelsea will be in the market for a new defender

But despite not giving much away about his captian, Tuchel has opened up and admitted that Chelsea are working on the contract issues surrounding the little Spanish star: ‘Well the future of the players I like to be resolved normally immediately or not even in discussion, in the ideal world,’ Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference.

‘We do not live in the ideal world, though, so I think the contract situation with Azpi is pretty clear. It is not the biggest pressure on this subject but as you know, we have some other players also with contractual situations that are not fully solved.

‘This is not ideal. This is also nobody’s particular fault,’ Tuchel said. ‘This can happen sometimes in the moment we deal with it, and Azpi deals with it very professionally and I do not have the feeling that it affects any of his performances.

‘We are on it behind closed doors. This is where it needs to be dealt with.’

This has been going on for some time now, so maybe Azpilicueta has already made the decision to leave the club and that is why a contract has not been signed already?

Havertz sends message to Azpilicueta ahead of Chelsea exit

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has praised the impact club captain Cesar Azpilicueta has had at Stamford Bridge, ahead of his departure from the club at the end of the season

The 32-year-old won the final available trophy from his time with Chelsea on Saturday, lifting the Club World Cup after the Blues beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the final.

It was Havertz who scored the winning goal, coolly converting from the penalty spot but only after Azpilicueta had helped attract the mind games of the Palmeiras players by setting up like he was going to take the kick.

In an interview with German website Sport1 Havertz has now praised his captain for the action: “Many goalkeepers are now preparing intensively for penalties and the shooters,” he said.

“At the same time, the opponents try to influence and unsettle the shooter. I can deal with that well, but our tactics helped me focus and prepare in peace. Opponents must have been confused.”

“We have a great team and great team spirit,” Havertz continued.

“Otherwise we wouldn’t have won all the titles. Azpi is just a great person and captain who I really appreciate. He helped me from day one and made it easier for me to arrive.”

Chelsea wait decision after Azpilicueta offered Barcelona contract

Barcelona have offered Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta a two-year contract with an option for a further year

Now Spanish channel El Chiringuito report that Barca have made the offer of a three-year deal, with the final season being optional, with the report suggesting that the deal is already done.

The Blues are unlikely to offer such a long contract to a 32-year-old, usually not agreeing to anything over a one-year extension for anyone over 30 years old.

Azpilicueta has made over 450 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, but it does seem that his time at the club is coming to an end, remaining non-committal on his future earlier this month.

‘As I always said, I feel I have the trust and confidence of the club and now I am focused on every game,’ he said.

‘They are very tough games, and I am enjoying the moment. Eventually the moment will come, but I am fully focused on hopefully getting as many trophies as we can and then we will see.

‘I cannot say anything more than that I am really committed and have a lot of things ahead in the coming months and hopefully we can have a very good season.’
