Diogo Dalot: Manchester United right back registers amazing stats under Ralf Rangnick – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United right back Diogo Dalot has delivered a series of impressive performances under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The 22 year old has been a mainstay in his side, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka sidelined due to illness. Dalot had been a backup to the Englishman for the entirety of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s tenure.

He was sent on loan to AC Milan for the 2020/21 campaign and impressed in Italy.

In an earlier interview, he stated how beneficial the loan spell was for him:

“I think it was very important in terms of confidence and game time. I was the only player who was available for every game through the season and that’s an extra thing for me that I didn’t have in the two seasons before that.”

“I feel very energetic, fit and more mature – that’s the big point for me and I’m ready to show everyone what I can do.”

“I’ve experienced very different ways of playing in the Premier League and in Italy – it’s a different style of playing and I adapted to that. I think I’ve learnt a lot of things that can help me succeed this year.”

Dalot’s performance against West Ham at the weekend was another example of his overall development as a player.

With 86% pass accuracy, six ball recoveries, four tackles, two successful take ons and two interceptions, Dalot was at his best.

The Portuguese has been one of the standout players under Rangnick and has thrived in his system. He provides natural width on the right flank, which helps United break down the opposition low block.

Moreover, his stats destroy the myth of him simply being an ‘attacking full back.’

Since Rangnick took charge, Dalot has won 13 tackles and 12 interceptions in the Premier League – which is the highest among all of United’s outfield players.

The 22 year old is almost undroppable at the moment and is determined to succeed at the club. Wan-Bissaka will have to work extremely hard to have any chance of getting back his first-team spot.

Fernandes left a note for Sporting players during the international break

Manchester United News: Bruno Fernandes, a Manchester United midfielder, returned to Portugal to watch his former team Sporting CP. After watching his former team, he joined the Portugal squad for the World Cup play-offs, and he left a note for the Lisbon players.

Fernandes joined United from Sporting in January 2020. The Portuguese is one of the talisman for the club since his arrival. He has scored 49 goals in just over two years.

Ralf Rangnick’s club, on the other hand, is taking a break before returning to domestic action on April 2. This allowed the players to have a break of their own.

Diogo Dalot was also in the stadium to watch his former club Porto play at Boavista. Meanwhile, Fernandes visited Guimaraes, where his old employers thrashed Vitoria from behind.

After the game, Fernandes paid a visit to the Sporting locker room, according to Record (via Sport Witness). Ruben Amorim, a Man Utd-linked manager, greeted him and left good luck greeting for the players.

Sporting won the Primeira Liga last season after they finished five points ahead of Porto. With only seven games left in the season, they are still six points behind their opponents after a tense draw at the Dragao in February.

However, their victory in Vitoria was their third in a row. After Oscar Estupinan’s opener, Pablo Sarabia equalized from the penalty spot, before Paulinho and Marcus Edwards, a former Vitoria player, sealed the win in the second half.

Sporting won their first league title since 2002 under manager Amorim, who played for Portugal at the 2014 World Cup. He related to Manchester United before the Premier League club chose Ralf Rangnick as an interim manager because of his performance.

Fernandes is one of three United players in Portugal’s team. Dalot and Cristiano Ronaldo have also travelled to Porto for the match against Turkey, with the winner going on to face either Italy or North Macedonia for a spot in Qatar.

When Fernando Santos’ team fell to Serbia in their last group game, they missed out on automatic qualification for the tournament. Adding to the misery,  they will be without several key players for the Turkey match.

Joao Cancelo and Renato Sanches have been suspended and Pepe has tested positive for Covid-1. Whereas the like of Ruben Neves has been added to the treatment table alongside Ruben Dias and Nelson Semedo.

The match against Turkey is scheduled for Thursday, the same day that Italy and North Macedonia meet in Palermo. The two tie winners will then compete in a one-off game for a place in the World Cup.

Maitland-Niles Fails to Impress at Roma as Future Undecided

Arsenal News: According to rumors, Ainsley Maitland-Niles will face an uncertain future at Roma after failing to persuade Jose Mourinho. His present club Arsenal is considering a move for Manchester United full defender Diogo Dalot.

After struggling to gain regular minutes under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates, Maitland-Niles moved to Italy in the winter window. Although he has only made seven appearances so far and has been used in a number of positions.

As a result, it’s been suggested that Mourinho is already looking elsewhere to bolster the position, with Dalot. Dalot appears to have risen above Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the United pecking order, being a target.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 22-year-old Dalot is being considered as a replacement for Maitland-Niles.

Arsenal News: Ainsley Maitland-Niles future at Roma is questionable as he ‘fails to impress’ Jose Mourinho

However, whether United will sell remains to be seen. Maitland-Niles has been used as a right defender, left-back, and on both flanks of the midfield so far. However, unfortunately, he has yet to find a consistent position.

Mourinho praised the England Under-21 international’s adaptability. This was despite the fact that one outing on the left meant he did not impress. After Maitland-Niles’ troubles this season, Jose Mourinho is apparently seeking replacements.

His feelings were compounded when he was sent off in the Italian side’s 2-2 home draw with Verona last month. And he has since been absent from the team’s last two games. It’s no surprise, however, that rumors suggest Roma may revive their interest in Dalot. Mourinho was the one who signed him during his time at Old Trafford.

Dalot has appeared in 15 of United’s 28 Premier League games this season. And he has done so exceptionally under three different managers. There are rumors that United are willing to let him depart for £8.3 million.

Dalot being linked with a Move

Arsenal News: Diogo Dalot of Manchester United have been linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico. Dalot has previously found success in Serie A.

During his loan spell at AC Milan last season, he scored twice in 33 games. Fiorentina has namely been connected with a move for Dalot. This implies implying the two domestic rivals will go head-to-head in the race to get the youngster. Mourinho predicted that Dalot will become United’s first-choice right-back for the next decade in 2018. He even went as far as even mentioning Gary Neville in his praise.

He had previously worked with Dalot, who was recruited by the former United manager in 2018. Mourinho said that everybody knows that he has fantastic potential. He can probably follow Neville in this dynamic of more than ten years as United’s right back. Because there would be incredible opportunities to progress for him since he’s only 19.

Manchester United’s dressing room morale at an all time low – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s team selections are reportedly causing other players within the squad to be very unhappy with the current situation.

Not so long ago, people could argue that this team had the best morale in the Premier League and there wasn’t a single player who was unhappy.

However, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking, it feels like the players are still adjusting to the new manager and have suffered a massive culture shock.

Many of the squad have become unhappy with not playing or with the current setup and it looks like Man United are crashing down.

According to the Manchester Evening News, morale remains low and last weekend’s defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League didn’t help either.

The reason behind such a drastic change in morale is said to be because of the team selections going into every match.

This was a minor problem under Solskjaer where he refused to pick certain players in easier competitions such as Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot and Dean Henderson.

Now, many more, including Marcus Rashford, who was a substitute during the Manchester derby despite being on the only striker available, are upset.

According to the outlet, one player has referred to another teammate as a ‘teacher’s pet’ because of their continued appearances while the accuser has failed with minutes on the pitch.

Other players are unimpressed with United’s board hiring Rangnick who was a sporting director in Russia and Germany beforehand.

His other managerial stints only saw him win the German Cup with Schalke in 2011.

Some players are not shifting the blame for this season’s decline on the interim manager who was originally contracted for six months.

The right-back situation has also been an unimpressive situation for many players who are wondering why Victor Lindelof started vs. Atletico Madrid despite having two fit right-backs.

Dalot has managed to claim the role but in recent matches, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has reclaimed the position.

United fans will be hoping the next permanent manager can sort out the horrendous morale the team are currently going through.
