What are Mikel Arteta’s plans for January?

The Arsenal manager talked about his priorities in the month of January. The Spaniard said that his first and foremost objective is to make sure that the players are fit and healthy.

Mikel Arteta then talked about the transfer window. He said that the club is continuously monitoring the needs of the manager. The Spaniard added that the club will proceed with a strategy in the transfer market.

Arsenal Transfer News: Mikel Arteta talks about the Gunners approach in the January transfer window

Arteta had earlier said that he would be adding players in his midfield. The Gunners are lacking players in the midfield after Elneny and Partey left to play in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Arsenal manager agreed that the transfer market is complicated at the moment. He added that most players don’t generally want to leave their existing clubs midseason. But Arteta did assure that the club management will do its best in order to get the best signings.

The Spaniard was also asked about Dusan Vlahovic and other potential transfer targets. But the Arsenal manager decided to maintain his silence on potential arrivals and departures.

Arsenal Transfer News: Do big players still want to sign for Arsenal?

Mikel Arteta was questioned in the interview whether big players still want to join the club. There was recent news that Dusan Vlahovic does not want to join the North London side as they haven’t played in the Champions League since 2016/17.

To this, the Spaniard replied that Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs historically. Hence the English side has always targeted big players from around the world.

Mikel Arteta concluded saying “Anytime I have spoken to any player, they were so willing to come. I haven’t faced any other situation and that’s one of our biggest powers. Our capacity to get attention is something that is a big advantage for us.”

What did Arteta say about Edward Nketiah’s future?

The Arsenal manager was questioned about Nketiah’s future with the Gunners. The forward is out of contract in the summer. Owing to this, there was news that Edward Nketiah was leaving in January.

But Mikel Arteta has denied such claims. The Arsenal manager said that Nketiah is our player and is under contract. Hence he is going to stay with the club.

Arthur Melo’s Transfer in Doubt After Juventus Complicate Loan Terms

Published

Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners are interested in bringing Arthur Melo to North London in January. But the deal seems to be in jeopardy as Juventus have made changes to the loan terms.

Mikel Arteta has been quite vocal about making signings in the January transfer window. One of the manager’s priorities is to secure a central midfielder as Arsenal are lacking personnel in his position.

Arsenal currently have Mohamed Elneny, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Granit Xhaka, and Thomas Partey as the possible options in central midfield. But out of these, only Thomas Partey has retained Mikel Arteta’s trust as of now.

With the transfer window ending in five days, Arsenal are yet to strike a deal with any player. Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes was reportedly the first choice signing for the Gunners, but the midfielder has chosen to remain in France for now.

Will Arsenal be able to sign Arthur Melo in January?

Arsenal Transfer News: Arthur Melo’s transfer is in doubt after Juventus complicate loan terms

As stated earlier, The Gunners had made Arthur Melo their priority signing after Bruno Guimaraes was not open to moving. But Juventus seem to have diminished Arsenal’s hopes after updating their loan terms.

Arsenal’s technical director Edu has been working on the Arthur Melo loan deal for the past few days. Owing to this, The Brazilian midfielder’s representatives had also visited Arsenal’s training facility last week.

Edu had reportedly been in contract with Juventus’ technical director Federico Cherubini as the duo discussed the terms of a loan. But the move seems to have hit a snag after Federico Cherubini and Juventus updated their loan terms.

As per The Athletic, The Juventus technical director is ready to let Arthur Melo leave on an 18-month loan deal. After this, Arsenal would have the option to purchase the midfielder for €40m if they would want to.

Edu has presented this offer to the Arsenal board, but they are reluctant over the updated terms. The Gunners are said to be wanting a 6-month loan deal with an option to buy. The North London club does not want an 18-month loan deal, as they are unsure about how Arthur Melo would perform.

Juventus, meanwhile, will be signing a replacement if Arthur leaves on loan. Hence it would be a problem for Arthur and the Serie A club if Arsenal would be unwilling to permanently sign him after the initial 6-month loan period.

Earlier in the month, Juventus were interested in a loan-swap deal with the Gunners. The Serie A giants were reportedly interested in signing Arsenal’s Thomas Partey. But the North London club’s management made it clear that Partey would not be leaving.

What does this mean?

After the latest twist, things have become very complicated for Arsenal. Hence barring an unexpected twist, it is expected that Arthur Melo would remain at Juventus for the rest of the 2021/22 season.

Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly having his medical ahead of his move to Newcastle.

There are only a few days left of the transfer window, and so far fans have only seen Kieran Trippier and Chris Woods arrive to help the club avoid relegation this season.

But there has still been alot of speculation about the players that will be arriving at the club over the next few days, with Diego Carlos and Duvan Zapata just two stars that are heavily linked with the club.

But now it seems that Newcastle have made a very late swoop and encouraged Lyon to let one of their star players leave this transfer window, as they have agreed a £30 million fee for Guimaraes

Arsenal were among a number of clubs interested in signing Guimaraes, who has also been watched closely by Manchester United and PSG, but Eddie Howe’s side look to be closing in on the 24-year-old’s signature.

Reports on the Sky Sports website has now revealed that the Brazilian will undergo his medical on Wednesday.

Guimaraes has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, registering six assists. He has three caps for the Brazil national team.

Look, there is a reason why all the big clubs have been keeping a close eye on Guimaraes, and that is because he is a quality player that will improve this Toon squad.

Fans will surely be getting excited about this signing as he is a player that, as we said, will have a huge impact on the squad.

But dont expect him to be the last signing as Howe wants a few more players over the next few days

Arsenal News: Mikel Arteta has travelled to Denver, Colorado to meet the Arsenal owner, Stan Kroenke. The Gunners manager was pictured along with Kroenke at a hockey game.

Mikel Arteta has been vocal about needing reinforcements in January. But as of now, there have only been departures from the club rather than arrivals.

With the transfer window entering the last few days, Mikel Arteta has travelled to the United States. Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker after the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Edward Nketiah, and Alexandre Lacazette are all up in the air.

Arsenal had been vying to sign Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic and had even made a bid of €60m. But the Serbian seems uninterested to move to North London as he prefers moving to Juventus and staying in the Serie A instead.

Arsenal News: Arteta Flies to the United States to Meet Club Owner Stan Kroenke Before the Transfer Window Closes

Mikel Arteta meets Arsenal’s owner Stan Kroenke

As stated earlier, Mikel Arteta has reportedly flown to Denver, Colorado, to meet Stan Kroenke. They were pictured watching the National Hockey League game between Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks.

The reason for Mikel Arteta’s visit has not been revealed. But there is speculation that the Spaniard has travelled to the United States to discuss the transfer window situation.

Arsenal had been linked with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimarães, Arthur Melo, and other players throughout January. But there is yet to be a single noteworthy signing as the window ends in just 6 days.

The Gunners are short in numbers in central midfield and the striking position. Mikel Arteta has himself been vocal of this in press conferences. Hence, it could be that he has visited Stan Kroenke for the same reason.

Has the Arsenal manager travelled to discuss a new contract?

Earlier in the week there were reports that the Arsenal management is very happy with Mikel Arteta’s commitment and work ethic. Owing to this, they were willing to offer the Spaniard a contract extension.

Another reason for an extension was Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s current deal with Arsenal expires in 2023. This incidentally coincides with Pep Guardiola’s deal with the Sky Blues.

Mikel Arteta is no stranger to Manchester City as he had worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant before joining Arsenal in December 2019. Hence the Gunners management feel that City could come after Arteta if Pep Guardiola decides to leave.

Owing to this, the Gunners have reportedly decided to offer a new and improved contract extension to Mikel Arteta in the coming days. Hence, it could be that the Spaniard has travelled to discuss the details before he publicly extends his stay at the North London club.
