Arsenal are close to the January signing of striker Isak

Arsenal are ‘close’ to signing Sweden and Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak, according to reports

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta will need to add a new striker to the squad over the course of the January window, as Alexandre Lacazette cannot find the net on a weekly basis, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

That means that the door is open for Arsenal to bring in a new striker and there has been many reports in the media which have claimed that Isak is a man that the Arsenal board would like to sign this transfer window.

Isak has scored seven goals in 22 appearances for Sociedad so far this season, after impressing for Sweden in last summer’s European Championships.

Now El Nacional claim the Swede is ‘loved’ by Arsenal and adds that the club are ‘close’ to signing the 22-year-old.

The news comes after former Manchester united defender Rio Ferdinand claimed the Sweden international would be a great signing for the Gunners: ‘He will be a good signing. Another young talented player. He has done really well in the Euros for Sweden, I thought. He is a talented player, man,’ he told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

Isak is a very talented striker and it is easy to see just why some of the biggest clubs in Europe are all eyeing up a potential deal. But the Gunners fans wants to see a striker arrive that will net 20 goals a season and not ten.

Isak has many more years of developing to do, so right now, he is probably not the striker that Arsenal need to get them challenging for that Premier League title once again.

But he would be a good long-term signing to back-up a number one hitman

Aliadiere tells Arsenal that Isak could be the perfect signing

Jeremie Aliadiere believes Alexander Isak would be the perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, wit reports that the Gunners are plotting a £75 million move

Arsenal haven’t felt the impact of Pierre-Emericks Aubameyang’s January departure at present as the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have all stepped up to keep the Gunners in the chase for a top four spot.

But it is no secret that Mikel Arteta still wants to delve into that transfer kitty at the end of the season and try to find a striker that will score on a regular basis, and a move for the talented Isak has been mooted over the past few months

The 22-year-old has scored eight goals in all competitions for the Spanish side this season and Aliadiere feels if the Gunners can secure a top-four finish and offer him Champions League football then Isak would be a great addition.

‘It’s all going to depend on Champions League football,’ he told BonusCodeBets.

‘If you do, big monies come in, players just think you know, “I’ll go to Arsenal now, play Champions League football.”

‘If you don’t, then it’s obviously a different kind of player you can attract. It’s all related to this.

‘For me, Alexander Isak seems like a really good buy. I like his style.

‘I think we need somebody that runs behind the defender, makes runs behind. Arsenal have always been that kind of club that has a striker that makes runs behind, stretch the opposition.’

‘He’s (Isak) still very young, got a lot of energy and I think in that team with a manager like (Mikel) Arteta, who’s still very young, you would not want very, very experienced players that might have a bit of an ego,’ he added.

‘I think getting younger players that are still proven, still very good players, I think that’s the way forward for the club.

‘I think it was a bit disappointing for everybody (the Aubameyang transfer). We don’t really know what happened there.

‘It’s one of those (the Aubameyang transfer), if it doesn’t work out, the player’s not happy, the club’s not happy, it is better to just separate ways and move forward.

‘So far, it seems to have obviously been the right decision because we seem to be still winning games and performing and it looks like we don’t really need him. So hopefully, we can carry on.’

Mikel Arteta urged to sign Alexander Isak as he “fits the bill”

Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners are expected to sign at least one striker in the summer. Hence, Mikel Arteta has been urged to sign Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak as the striker “fits the bill”.

The Gunners let their former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave in the January transfer window. The Gabonese striker was sidelined from the squad after a “disciplinary breach” owing to which he was not allowed to play for the club.

This left only Alexandre Lacazette and Edward Nketiah as the possible striker options post the January transfer window. But both the players could be leaving in the summer as well.

Lacazette and Nketiah’s contracts are set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 season. But there has been no news of a new contract being offered by the Gunners. Owing to this, they are expected to leave the club as free agents in June.

Arsenal Transfer News: Mikel Arteta urged to sign Alexander Isak as he “fits the bill”

As per the Mirror, Arsenal has been linked with Alexander Isak for a long time. But former Gunners forward Jeremy Aliadiere has now reportedly urged Mikel Arteta to sign the striker as “he fits the bill”.

Jeremy Aliadiere said Isak is still young and has a lot of energy. I think in that team with a manager like Arteta, who’s still very young, you wouldn’t want very experienced players that might have a bit of an ego.”

The former Arsenal striker then added that Alexander Isak is a young player who has already proved his worth at Real Sociedad. Hence he concluded by saying that he felt the Swedish forward would be the best choice for the Gunners.

The Gunners have been scouting Alexander Isak themselves for a few months now. Arsenal was linked with Isak after their bid for Dusan Vlahovic fell through in January. But Real Sociedad reportedly didn’t want their striker to leave mid-season.

Alexander Isak burst onto the scene after scoring 17 goals and providing 2 assists in 34 LaLiga games in the 2020/21 season. The Swedish striker then backed his performances in the Euro tournament in the summer of 2021.

The Swedish striker has not been able to replicate the same form in 2021/22. Isak has scored just 4 goals and 2 assists in 22 LaLiga games this season.

Who will the Gunners sign in the summer?

As per reports, Arsenal is looking to make drastic changes in their forward line in the summer. Hence, it is being said that Mikel Arteta could add as many as three major signings to their forward line.

Alexander Isak could be a good signing for the Gunners given that the 22-year old fits Mikel Arteta’s style of play. Hence, the transfer could eventually come down to how much fee Real Sociedad demand to let their striker leave in the summer.

Arsenal have contact the entourage of target Isak

Arsenal have reportedly ‘contacted’ Alexander Isak’s entourage over a summer transfer – but they want Real Sociedad to waive his £76million release clause.

The Gunners are desperate for striker reinforcements after ripping up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract last month as Mikel Arteta knows he needs to add a forward to that exciting attack.

Arsenal missed out on signing Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus while Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette will both become free agents in June, with both unable to agree anew contracts at the Emirates.

Now IcFootballnews has learned that Boss Mikel Arteta wants the Swedish forward to lead his line in the Premier League next season.

Isak has become one of the most sought after young strikers in Europe after his impressive performances in La Liga over the past 12 months, and the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City have also been linked with a possible move

But Arsenal have ‘contacted’ his representatives over a move, and the North London club are only willing to do business if Sociedad agree a few lower than his release clause.

Arsenal do not wish to pay that massive £76 million for the striker, knowing that he is still not yet proven at the highest level, and would much prefer to pay a figure of £50 million to conclude a deal.

IcFootballnews View…

Look, Isak is a brilliantly gifted young striker that does have a bright future in the game, but no way is he worth that £76 million and the Arsenal board should not pay anywhere near that amount.

If Sociedad do not want to come down on that asking price, then the Gunners should look at other possible targets, maybe players that are already proven in the Premier League and at the top of the game

If Arsenal believe that Arteta is the future, then they need to give him the money, but they should not waste that on players that wont make an immediate impact
