The former Gunners’ skipper, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was brilliant for the Londoners in his first two full seasons. Mikel Arteta reacts angrily to Lacazette’s comments about the Champions League

Arsenal News: Mikel Arteta is trying to build a team where he wants only those players who wish to stay. In a recent interview, Arteta issued a warning to Alexandre Lacazette. The manager talked about his contract situation and how he wants the striker to focus.

The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and is most likely to leave the club. Lacazette has taken over as Arteta’s first-choice striker since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure.

However, his dismal goal-scoring performance this season has raised questions about his new contract. Lacazette’s future appears to be increasingly up in the air, with only four Premier League goals to his name so far this season.

As a result, the Frenchman gave a media interview in which he intimated that he was not focused on Arsenal. Lacazette said that he has gotten into talks with several clubs before his contract with the Gunners expired.

“I am talking to several clubs. I haven’t played in the Champions League in a long time and I’m missing it, “Lacazette spoke to Canal Plus about it.

Arteta has reacted angrily to the interview, insisting that Arsenal will not initiate contract negotiations until the summer. He’s also urged the Frenchman to return his attention to Arsenal’s pursuit for a top-four finish.

What did Arteta say?

“When it comes to Lacazette talking to other clubs, he can do it because his contract situation is like that. We have stated that we intend to talk in the summer. Till the time he is with us, I want his focus on the job at hand, Arteta stated.

Those remarks appear to back up Arteta’s claim from earlier this month that everyone in his squad is pulling for the “same purpose.” Arteta is trying his level best to bring Arsenal back to Champions League.

“Everyone is working towards the same goal. With the same commitment and zeal to accomplish what we set out to do. Accepting that we are not there yet, but that we want to get there quickly, and that we must do so jointly “Last month, he stated.

We don’t have any single player or a person of staff in the organization who can do it on their own. It needs to be a collective effort to go that additional mile, and one of the biggest factors for me has been the Emirates and our fans.”

Lacazette must pay attention to that message. The situation of Aubameyang is there for example.

Another Arsenal captain at Camp Nou?

Barcelona News: Barcelona had a wonderful transfer window in January. They got the likes of Adama Traore, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Ferran Torres. Since then, Barcelona has gotten back on track. They have reached the Quarter-finals of the Europa League and also beat Real Madrid 0-4 in La Liga.

The Catalans are performing consistently well under Xavi and are moving up the ranks. They are currently at the third position in the LaLiga table. Barcelona has not lost a single game in the past two months across all competitions. They have won eight matches and drew three in the past two months.

Barcelona is preparing for the summer transfer window. Reports suggest that their new target is Arsenal skipper Alexandre Lacazette. The Catalans want the Arsenal captain on a free transfer. Alexandre’s contract is expiring this summer with the Gunners and Barcelona wants to take advantage of this.

However, Barcelona’s plan to reunite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with his former teammate might be unsuccessful. Reports also say that Ligue 1 club Lyon also wants to sign their former striker. Alexandre Lacazette was a former Lyon striker before joining Arsenal in 2017.

Earlier, reports suggested that the Gunners are set to offer their captain a one-year extension on his contract. However, Mikel Arteta has said that discussions will not take place unless the season is finished. Barcelona is ready to take advantage of his contract situation and will try to lure him to Camp Nou.

The deal will reunite the Arsenal skipper with his former teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang has made a terrific start to his career with Barcelona scoring 9 goals in just 11 appearances. He scored a brace against Real Madrid to ensure the win for Barcelona in the El Clasico.

FC Barcelona has shortlisted Mohamed Salah, Robert Lewandowski, and Erling Haaland as transfer targets. Alexandre being a free agent this summer makes him a more viable option financially.

Aubameyang was bombed out of Arsenal in December. Since then, Alexandre has taken over the captaincy and has taken on a more prominent role for his side. He has started consecutively in 14 Premier League games, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

Alexandre Lacazette is a good option for the Catalans

A player of his quality on a free transfer will be a huge point of attention for a club like Barcelona. They will not miss out on an opportunity like this. Since the departure of their GOAT Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, the team has been looking for a prominent forward-line. They even lost the service of Sergio Aguero because of his heart condition. Antoine Griezmann also went to Atletico Madrid on loan.

Barcelona has the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Adama Traore, Memphis Depay, Ousman Dembele, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, and Martin Braithwaite in the forward line. They are famous for their best-in-class forward-line players and the Arsenal skipper will be a great addition to this list.

The team was struggling in the first half of the season. They were out of the Champions League in the group stage finishing third in the group. Since the arrival of Traore, Ferran, and Aubameyang, the team has made a good comeback.

Barcelona will face Sevilla FC on Sunday and they will hope to continue this winning run. They will face Frankfurt in the Europa League Quarter-Finals this month.

Arsenal News: Alexandre Lacazette to stay? Mikel Arteta drops a hint on the captain’s future

Arsenal News: The Gunners supporters are currently unsure about the future plans of Alexandre Lacazette. But Mikel Arteta has now confirmed that Arsenal could be giving him a new contract.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was named as the Arsenal captain before the start of the 2021/22 season. But the Gabon-based striker left the club in January following a standoff with Mikel Arteta.

Following Aubameyang’s departure, Mikel Arteta handed the captain’s armband to Alexandre Lacazette. It has been in the possession of the French forward since.

The striker’s captaincy role initially looked to be temporary. Alexandre Lacazette’s contract ends in the summer. Owing to this it was expected that he would be leaving the club. But Mikel Arteta and Arsenal seem to have taken a U-turn as per reports.

As per the Mirror, Alexandre Lacazette could be staying with Arsenal next season as well. The Gunners’ manager Mikel Arteta has given a clear hint about the Frenchman’s future at the club.

Lacazette has taken up an important role in the Arsenal dressing room following the departure of Aubameyang. To add to this, the striker is also starting regularly for the Gunners.

Talking about Lacazette, Mikel Arteta said, “I think with Alex it’s clear what he brings to the team. He has shown it consistently since I’ve been here. We have to resolve the contractual timing, in the best possible way, and when we all align on the same page.”

Hence Mikel Arteta gave a clear indication that he wants Alexandre Lacazette to stay at the club. With the striker taking up a leader’s role in the dressing room, it won’t be a surprise if he is given an extension.

The Frenchman signed for the Gunners in July 2017. Since then, Lacazette has scored 71 goals in 197 appearances for Arsenal. The striker has scored 4 goals and provided 7 assists in the 2021/22 Premier League season so far.

With a top-four finish a possibility, Alexandre Lacazette, and his teammates could create history. This could be the first time that Arsenal reach the Champions League since the departure of legendary manager Arsene Wenger.

Will Lacazette get playing time next season?

Arsenal is reportedly looking to sign a host of attackers in the summer. The Gunners wanted to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January. But the Serbian snubbed the North London club, instead of moving to Juventus.

The Gunners are linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins among others. Hence it has to be seen if Alexandre Lacazette would be given a starter’s role if he does decide to extend his contract with the club.
