Ajax has Bergwijn’s offer rejected

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur is currently chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore this January transfer window.

It is especially clear why Antonio Conte’s men would do so given their glaring requirements for an attacking fullback. This void in their squad was quite visible across the two legs against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semifinals.

Tottenham Hotspur failed to stop Chelsea’s barrage down the flanks and couldn’t make much of an impact as well from their side. The Spurs had Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty playing on either flank.

However, both of these players couldn’t advance much and were restricted to their halves. This needs to change and for that reason, Antonio Conte is so desperate to get hold of Adama Traore from Wolves.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Spurs reject Ajax bid for Steven Bergwijn

Tottenham Hotspur News: Ajax has Steven Bergwijn’s offer rejected.

Amidst their pursuit for Adama Traore, Tottenham Hotspur has rejected Ajax’s offer for Steven Bergwijn. According to the latest reports, Ajax’s initial offer of €18 million has been rejected by Tottenham.

Although Steven Bergwijn has hardly been impactful for Tottenham Hotspur since joining, Antonio Conte still trusts him. The Italian coach said he’s waiting for Bergwijn to return from injury and believes in him.

Bergwijn, he knows very well what I think about him. I consider him a player that can play all the three roles, as a number 9 and number 10,” Conte said in a press conference.

In my period at Tottenham, he was injured for a long time. But I showed him that when he is in the good physical condition I gave him a chance. He is a Tottenham player and he is very close to coming back. After the game with Chelsea, he can start a training session.

“I can count on him. He is a player with different characteristics than Harry [Kane], [Heung-Min] Son, and [Lucas] Moura, he is a player we don’t have in our squad.”

However while Antonio Conte wants him to stay, Tottenham can be open to letting him go. But all of this depends on whether Ajax can provide them sufficient money for the transfer. Additionally, Bergwijn came to Tottenham Hotspur for £25 million from PSV Eindhoven, so they will look to at least make that much.

Obviously, this move makes sense from a financial standpoint. Tottenham Hotspur will try to make as much as possible from Steven Bergwijn and use it to fund Adama Traore.

After the disappointment in the Carabao Cup, Tottenham has a tough run of games. They will be facing Arsenal, Leicester City, and Chelsea in their next three fixtures.

Manchester United News: Club’s Change in Formation

Manchester United News: Football is very unpredictable. In the case of Manchester United, it’s about the formation. The Red Devils have switched back to playing the very formation Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tried to implement last summer to be successful.

United was gaining an identity of being a counter-attacking team and having no plan B. The Norwegian coach looked to switch things from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 to dictate the game.

The formation worked at first and United blitzed Everton in pre-season. The record English champions then dismantled Leeds at Old Trafford.

However, as the form began to dip, Solskjaer went back to the predictable approach but this time without success. The former Molde manager couldn’t do the required changes and ended up losing the job even before December started.

Manchester United News: Change of system working for Rangnick?

Manchester United News: Club’s Change in Formation

Rangnick’s regime started off shakily. The German’s 4-2-2-2 looked out of sorts with the personnel at United. However, the former RB Leipzig manager made a quick switch to 4-3-3 and so far, it’s working for him.

So far, the pairing of McTominay and Fred is working. The Brazilian is taking up an advanced role whereas the Scotsman is in a deeper role. However, United needs an outright central defensive midfielder to dominate the formation.

The United fans as well as the hierarchy accept that midfield is the ‘biggest problem’ in their squad. The three-time European champions are already looking for players to fulfil that role in the summer. If the reports are to be believed, CDM is the top priority regardless of whoever remains in charge.

Everyone around United believes that the club needs to get way to winning games in an authoritative way. The fans want to see the team dominate possession and get the goals to win the games.

Change of formation for the new manager?

When Solskjaer was in charge, the 20 times Premier League champions had great results against top sides apart from Liverpool. However, those wins always came with underdog tags where United got the goals on counter and defended for most of the game.

The current formation of 4-3-3 formation is described by Rangnick as ‘one holding six, two eights and three offensive players. The formation used is the likely one for the manager coming in next at Old Trafford.

The change in the formation also suggests that United is likely to bring in someone else rather than going with Rangnick. The 4-2-2-2 set-up was ditched after a few bad games. It looks like United is already gearing up for their future tactical shape.

It is also seen as a signal to lure the Dutch mastermind Erik Ten Hag or even Mauricio Pochettino. The Ajax manager likes to play in a 4-3-3 and the same can be said for the Paris Saint Germain boss. The two names are said to be the frontrunners for the United job in the summer.

Ten Hag is the number one priority for United

Manchester United News: United is looking for a new manager in the summer. The Old Trafford outfit is looking at the likes of Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, and even Ralf Rangnick. However, if reports are to be believed then Ten Hag is the front runner in the race because of his stunning defensive record at Ajax.

The trio of managers will be looked after at the end of the season. Ralf Rangnick was appointed as the interim after United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because of a disastrous start to the campaign.

Ralf Rangnick has struggled initially but off late he’s churning out results. However, he is no match for Ten Hag. The Dutchman at present is flying high with Ajax.

No one knows who will land the managerial role in summer but with the resurgence of Ten Hag, it’s a tough battle for Rangnick as well as Pochettino.

Manchester United News: Why Ten Hag?

Manchester United News: Ten Hag is the number one priority for United.

Ten Hag is considered one of the best tactical managers around. He has made an average Ajax squad look like world-beaters. They are now at the first position in Eredivisie as they bid to take over their fourth consecutive league win.

Ajax top of the table journey is incredible. They have just conceded five goals in 20 league games so far this season.

It is very impressive, and it makes more sense why United wants him as their first-choice manager. The Red Devils have conceded 30 times already this season from just 22 games.

Given Ajax’s stunning defensive record and United’s abject one, it makes sense of appointing Ten Hag in the summer. United has a potent attack but if they keep on leaking goals like this, they won’t be challenging for the title.

Will Hag sort out United defensive woes?

Manchester United News: United has assembled one of the most expensive defenses in the entire Premier League on paper. The record English Premier Champions signed Harry Maguire and, in the process, made him the most expensive defender in the world back in 2019.

The three-time European champions also spent £50m on first-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Luke Shaw made a deal of £27m when he came aboard with the club from Southampton back in 2014. As soon as last summer, the desperate Reds paid £34m to bring Raphael Varane to Manchester in summer. However, the Frenchman is plagued by injuries and still settling in.

The Premier League season is halfway done and United’s inability to shut teams out is pegging them back. If Rangnick is not able to achieve Champions League qualification, then he might be out of the summer race before it heats up.

The reports of Ten Hag to United have been everywhere. The Dutchman made the top list after taking a mediocre Ajax to the domestic double.

Competition To Sign Edson Alvarez

Chelsea Transfer News: English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Crystal Palace are interested in acquiring Edson Alvarez. He has emerged as one of the top defensive midfielders in Europe this season, according to reports.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea and Crystal Palace are both interested in signing Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez. The exploits of the 24-year-old Mexican international this season have attracted the interest of the Premier League teams.

Ajax is enjoying a fantastic season under Erik Ten Hag, as they vie with PSV Eindhoven for the Eredivisie championship. The Amsterdam giants are indeed a point behind their opponents in second place. But they have been amazing defensively this season. They have just surrendered four goals in the process.

Edson Alvarez has piqued the interest of many European teams

The play of defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez has been one of the more eye-catching features of their overall game this season, even though their defence has been strong throughout the season. The Mexican international is enjoying his greatest season to date. This has naturally piqued the curiosity of teams in the United Kingdom and others.

Premier League clubs Chelsea and Crystal Palace have been reported as possible suitors for the 24-year-old Mexican midfielder. According to reports, the London clubs are prepared to sign him to improve their midfield options. Ajax might be receptive to a big offer. But with Alvarez committed to the club for the foreseeable future, the club may not be in a hurry to sell to a third party.

Currently, Chelsea is on the lookout for a new midfielder. There is a strong possibility of a new addition in that position for the next season. N’Golo Kante has been a powerful presence in the backline this season.

Although he has struggled with fitness difficulties throughout the year. The Blues have been scouting high-profile candidates for the midfield position. Names such as Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona are among those on their shortlist for the position.

Chelsea might gain an advantage over their competitors by making a bid for Alvarez. But the west Londoners are not very concerned with acquiring a pure defensive midfielder at this time. They are looking for a man to play in central midfield. Corentin Tolisso of Bayern Munich is a possible alternative.

Chelsea Transfer News: Will Chelsea be successful in their attempt to sign Edson Alvarez?

Despite outperforming everyone’s expectations this season, Crystal Palace is looking to bolster their midfield with additional quality players in the coming months. Patrick Vieira has brought about a culture shift at the club. The Londoners are hoping to finish in the top half of the league this season under his guidance.

Crystal Palace may seem to have the midfield covered. But Conor Gallagher will be returning to Chelsea after the season. This may necessitate the signing of a new player to take his position. While the Chelsea loanee is by no means a defensive midfielder, his departure in the area will create a significant hole that will have to be covered by the Eagles in the coming weeks and months.

Aaron Ramsey has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace. Although it is possible that he will not be considered. The Eagles would welcome Alvarez as a member of Vieira’s new revolution. If you compare him to the Juventus star, the 24-year-old will almost probably be a more valued acquisition because of his long-term chances.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea or Crystal Palace will be successful in acquiring Alvarez from Ajax. However, with bids being made for him, the Mexican international might be on his way out of the Netherlands soon.
