£17m Alvarez as Ronaldo replacement?

Published

on

Manchester United Transfer News: If you would have asked Manchester United fans about Julian Alvarez a few months ago, their response would have been very cold. However, Alvarez’s name now is hard to ignore.

The links to the players are at the initial phase but it’s gathering pace with every passing day.

Manchester United Transfer News: What does Alvarez bring to the team?

Manchester United’s relationship with South American play can’t be called rosy in the past. However, the talent of the 21-year-old centre-forward has put them on notice. The River Plate forward has scored 21 club goals and 13 assists across 2021, which is remarkable. He recently got his first cap for the Argentinian national team as well.

Alvarez is described as fluid forward. The youngster’s ability helps him to operate in any position in the front line. However, he is at his devastating best when he is playing centre-forward.

River Plate has the tendency to play different types of formations and this allows Alvarez to be played as a lone striker or even in a front two. Regardless of the position he plays, he thrives and that’s one of the reasons his transfer news is all over the place.

The 5ft 7in forward is hardworking and clever with his movement. His movements allow him to place into good shooting locations on a regular basis. This point is emphasized by the fact that he’s averaged 2.85 shots per 90 this season.

As we know that shorter players enjoy a low centre of gravity, which helps in the movement. The case with Alvarez is the same.

We all know the kind of football Ralf Rangnick wants United to play, and the Argentinian is widely known for that. His pressing ability is something that will make Rangnick happy. According to the stats, River Plate has the most aggressive press in the whole of the Argentine Primera Division.

Alvarez: Present of Future?

United can-do wonders with the talent of the South American sensation. However, at present, the biggest dilemma can be where to start him in the playing 11.

The potential of Alvarez won’t be questioned by many, however, United boasts of two of the best strikers, Ronaldo and Cavani. Alvarez is talented, but it’s very hard to see him dislodging any one of them in the coming months if he eventually signs.

One thing that can work in his favour is United might consider him as one for the future. He is 21 years old now and can replace both the ageing stars in the United forward line in a couple of years.

Is the signing risky?

United has struggled recently to get the young talented stars to the club. The likes of Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland are prime examples.

If the transfer news is to be believed, he is available for just £17million and that’s something United will consider. Even if the signing fails, it won’t be a lot of money for a club like Manchester United. However, all the signs are for a great career ahead of him.

Manchester United News: Rangnick-Martial Saga

Manchester United News: Manchester United has turned into a circus in the last few years. The Red Devils have won a few trophies but the tantrums and beef of the players with managers are always doing the media round.

In the latest saga, it looks like it’s Anthony Martial vs Ralf Rangnick. The Frenchman has been on the sidelines and has openly expressed his desire to leave the club.

The former Monaco star posted on his Instagram Story: “I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.

“I’ve been here for 7 years, and I never disrespected and never will disrespect the club and the Fans.”

Manchester United News: What’s the story?

Manchester United News: Rangnick-Martial Saga.

Anthony Martial hasn’t been picked up by Ralf Rangnick in the squad since his agent talked about a move away. However, things have heated up between the interim manager and the former golden boy winner.

The mercurial winger has denied Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick’s claim through a social media post. The 63-year-old German stated that the 26-year-old turned down the offer to be included in their matchday team for the Premier League draw with Aston Villa.

Rangnick was talking to the press after United’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. The former manager informed the media that Martial declined the opportunity to be in the squad in the non-appearance of injured players Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The winger has expressed his desire to leave the club. The decision has been made known to the hierarchy as well as the manager. Martial thinks it’s the right time to change the club. He has not played since the 3-2 win over Arsenal on December 2 with Sevilla and Juventus are in the race to sign him.

United is looking to offload the winger but they don’t have the desired suitors for him in the market. Sevilla made an offer but United rejected it and the Juventus’s interest is genuine, but a bid hasn’t arrived from the Old Lady.

Manchester United News: What did Ralf have to say?

Rangnick was not a happy man after United blew away a 2-0 lead against Villa within 15 with 13 minutes remaining. The German was asked about the future of Martial and his continued absence.

“Yes, he didn’t want to be in the squad,” Rangnick said. “He would have been in the squad normally, but he didn’t want to and that was the reason why he didn’t travel with us yesterday.”

Martial was touted as the generational talent when he joined United in 2015 from Monaco. He was the most expensive teenager at that point in time. However, after his initial promise, Martial never reached the promised land. The France international will be a United player till 2024 at least as he is under contract.

Manchester United squad unhappy with ‘outdated and unliked’ Ralf Rangnick – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick seems to be locked in a permanent battle to win over the hearts and minds of the club’s dressing room.

It was recently revealed that up to 11 members of the Reds’ squad are disillusioned with life at Old Trafford and actively looking to quit the club.

The Daily Mirror today reports that Rangnick is an unpopular figure in the United dressing room and that players have serious concerns over his tactics.

A Mirror source with “a close connection” to the squad claims that the 63-year-old is widely regarded as being “outdated and out of his time.”

It’s heavily implied that the source of this bombshell news is a player, with them going on to say of the German, “He is so unpopular, we don’t like him.”

This latest report comes amid a near deluge of worrying stories about the current extent of unrest in the Red Devils’ dressing room.

It’s previously been claimed that the United squad are unhappy with Rangnick’s training methods and struggling to adapt to his tactical demands.

And the latest news will surely undermine United star Cristiano Ronaldo’s appeal for the former RB Leipzig coach to be given time to fully implement his vision at the club.

“He arrived five weeks ago, and he changed many things, but he needs time to put his ideas to the players,” Ronaldo recently told Sky Sports.

“Since he arrived, I think in some points we are better, but he needs time. It’s not that easy to change the mentality of players and the way they play, the system and the culture like that. I believe that he is going to do a good job.”

If this latest report is to be believed, it would appear that certain sections of the playing squad have already made their minds up that Rangnick was the wrong choice to steady the ship until the end of the season.

United fans will be desperately hoping that the club can sweep aside another week of negativity by putting in a decent performance against Aston Villa today.

Another sub-par performance would probably ensure another round of media claims and counter-claims, as the circus around the ailing giant shows little sign of abating.

Cristiano Ronaldo addresses Manchester United’s key problem this season – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up on where he feels the club should improve, in what was a sensational interview.

The Portuguese superstar joined last summer but it’s safe to say things haven’t gone according to plan since his return.

According to The Daily Mail, Ronaldo said: “I say we have a long way to improve because, for me, the most important thing is the mentality. To look at yourself and say, ‘I can do better’.

“For you to be professional, help the team, the right mentality, self-taught and positive. All these details depend on you, not the coaches, the fans or the press. If you are proud of yourself and you have dignity, you have to do it much more.”

The Daily Mail claim Ronaldo has been ‘baffled’ that his teammates don’t do extra fitness work like he does and has hinted the younger players aren’t listening to him.

Ronaldo said: “If I give you advice, even if you are younger than me, if you don’t implant that during your daily life, it will be difficult.

“I will be the No 1 to help. But if you don’t want my help, do your job, look for yourself, do your best to help the team.

“I can speak all day with that person but if it’s not coming from inside of you, it’s impossible. When I was 18, 19, 20, some older players spoke with me, but I put that as, ‘Cristiano, you have to improve’. ”

The Daily Mail also report that Ronaldo has complained privately, at least once, that he is one of the only players who do extra gym work before and after training.

Utdreport report that Fabrizio Romano said something along the lines of: “Jorge Mendes is not negotiating with any clubs for Cristiano Ronaldo to leave United in the summer. Ronaldo is not thinking about anything else apart from United. It’s only United at this point.”

The good news is that Ronaldo is here to stay but the bad news is he’s likely to leave if the club can’t reach his minimum expectations.

After all, the former Juventus man made the switch in the summer because he had hoped to push a team that finished in second place last season.

The desire was to prove to be the final piece of the jigsaw and get United a much-needed title win, particularly after the investments of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho too.

Unfortunately, Ralf Rangnick’s men have been far from the level needed to win trophies and fans have collectively complained of a poor attitude and mentality from the players.

It seems Ronaldo has somewhat gone public with his complaints and it will be interesting to see what type of reaction it will bring from his teammates.
