Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won the 1000 Guineas a staggering 7 times, including 5 times in the last 6 years. Frankie Dettori also teamed up with O’Brien 12 months ago to win the 1000 Guineas with Mother Earth, so it’s interesting that the pocket Italian is hooking up with the powerful Irish handler again – this time to ride TUESDAY @ 11/2 with 888Sport at the Newmarket races today (Sunday 1st May).
This 3 year-old filly is the second runner in the 1000 Guineas for trainer Aidan O’Brien – he’s also got the Ryan Moore-ridden Tenebrism @ 3/1 with 888Sport , but 12 months ago Moore picked the wrong Ballydoyle horse – leaving Frankie to steer home Mother Earth. So can Dettori do it again?
Tuesday certainly has a big chance. She’s a proven distance winner over this 1m trip and comes here in winning form after a smooth success at Naas at the end of March. That was only her second career run, so like a lot of these young 3 year-olds there is every chance here will be a lot more improvement still to come.
Tuesday also holds an Epsom Oaks entry for the 3rd of June race – the third English Classic of the UK turf season.

How Many Times Has Frankie Dettori Won The 1000 Guineas?
Four times – the first Frankie Dettori 1000 Guineas winner was in 1998 (Cape Verdi). He added to that in 2002 (Kazzia), who went onto win the Epsom Oaks that same season. While Frankie added another win in the Newmarket race in 2011 (Blue Bunting) – then most recent 1000 Guineas win for Frankie Dettori was only last year in 2021, when he rode the Aidan O’Brien-trained Mother Earth to victory.
