Tottenham Hotspur interested in Jesse Lingard

Manchester United News: Jesse Lingard wants to move away from Manchester United and it’s not breaking news. The United academy graduate is struggling for game time and even to make the squad on match days.

According to reports, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur has decided to make a move for the struggling star. They have contacted Jesse Lingard’s representatives over a move to north London.

The 29-year-old’s contract expires at Old Trafford in the summer and that means he can talk to other clubs regarding a move. The transfer of Lingard might not happen in January because he will be available for free in January.

Jesse Lingard’s previous loan club, West Ham United, is interested in bringing him back permanently. The England international displayed some scintillating on loan at the London Stadium last season on loan.

Manchester United News: Lingard needs more playing time

Lingard fell down the pecking order at the club after the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, as well as the lack of defensive midfielder in the team. Mcfred (Mctominay/Fred) has to do the job in the midfield which means fewer attacking players on the pitch for United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept Lingard and promised him more game time after his brilliant loan spell with the Hammers. However, the promise turned out to be a farce and Ole was sacked because of the team’s poor run.

Manchester United News: What does Lingard bring to the team?

The midfielder is described as someone who can take the best runs behind the defenses, with or without the ball. Lingard is quick and with his acceleration, he always creates space between him and the defenders.

The quality of holding the ball even in the attacking third can make him valuable to any squad. The midfielder manages to pass the ball with more than 85% pass accuracy.

The United number 14 is a delight to watch when he runs with the ball. There are multiple occasions where he has come with a goal out of nothing. His goal against Watford at their home in the 17/18 campaign, Lingard’s technical ability, was on full display.

The midfielder received the ball in his own third and kept going, bypassing several defenders along the way before he scored. He scored a similar against Leicester in the Community shield as well.

What does the report say?

Football. London reports that Spurs are in touch with Lingard’s representatives over a potential move. Spurs want the deal to happen in the summer but won’t be reluctant to sign in January if the opportunity arrives.

Spurs believe that Lingard’s versatility will be an asset to them, as the Manchester-born midfielder can play in multiple positions in the forward line. They are also looking at Lingard to help with their homegrown player status. It will bolster Spurs’ British numbers.

Newcastle to bid big for Lingard?

Manchester United Transfer News: Newcastle United looks like signing everybody in the transfer window. The Tyneside club under the new owners is trying to keep themselves in the Premier League next season. If the reports are to be believed, the Magpies could turn their attention to Tottenham’s Dele Alli if they can’t sign Jesse Lingard on a loan deal.

Eddie Howe has been very active in strengthening his squad in the window. The former Bournemouth manager has already signed Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier. However, he is not done yet and wants to make further additions to avoid being relegated.

The Magpies are looking for more firepower. To strengthen their squad, they have been trying to sign Lingard, who has just six months left at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old forward is likely to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season. However, the way Magpies are chasing him, it might happen sooner than later.

Manchester United Transfer News: Lingard, to help save Newcastle from relegation?

Manchester United Transfer News: Newcastle to bid big for Lingard?

This season is turning out to be an absolute mess for Newcastle United. The Magpies have been in the relegation fight throughout the season. They managed to win against Leeds last week but remain in danger.

If reports are to be believed, the club is very tempted to bring England international Lingard to the club. They are willing to pay a huge loan amount for the player who is a free agent in six months’ time. However, United’s hierarchy is still taking their time in making the decision.

United have their reason to play hardball as there are other suitors for Lingard. The winger has made 14 appearances so far, but Spurs and West Ham remain highly interested. However, United is reluctant to do business with their rivals for fourth place. Lingard was an absolute revelation at the hammers last season, but a move back looks highly unlikely now.

Alli as backup?

The situation regarding the signing of Lingard is unpredictable. The Tyneside team is looking for alternate options because of United’s indecision.

The name they are looking at is none other than Dele Alli. The midfielder has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte at Spurs. The England international is struggling to make the matchday squads even after declaring himself fit.

Alli’s career started brightly with Spurs, but since then it has faded away completely. He has barely made any significant contributions over the last two seasons. However, the reports suggest that Howe has not made up his mind on the player yet

Is Newcastle in the hunt for a defender after a midfielder?

The Saudi state-owned club is also trying to sign a central defender. They have targeted Sevilla’s Diego Carlos with a bid of over €25m. The Newcastle board also admire Burnley’s James Tarkowski, who is out of contract this summer. However, Burnley is in no mood to lose another star to the relegation rivals.

It is too early to say whether the ambition of Newcastle will save keep them in Premier League or not. However, one thing is for sure and that is they won’t stop trying. They have enough money to make a mockery of other teams in the window now.

Antonio Conte surprised by incredible referee call against Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur News: Antonio Conte suffered his first defeat in the Premier League as a Spurs manager. Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners to bring an end to his 9 matches unbeaten streak.

The Blues scored twice in quick succession in the second half through Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva, to grab all 3 points. Conte was left frustrated with one of the referee’s decisions, as Harry Kane’s first-half goal was chalked off.

Kane seemed to have put his side ahead right before half-time, but Paul Tierney ruled it out. The referee deemed that Kane had fouled Thiago Silva in the buildup to the goal, for minimal contact on the part of the English striker.

The Italian manager did not understand the decision from the referee and questioned it after the match. He did not get how the goal was ruled out, especially in England, given the physical nature of the Premier League.

“In the first half the referee disallowed a goal, I was very clear with him in a polite way, but to see this type of goal disallowed in England was incredible,” Conte said. “Maybe in Italy, it was 50-50, but in England it was incredible.

The decision to chalk off the goal became a very big point of debate during the match. A goal for Spurs at that time could potentially have turned the tide of the match.

Several football pundits also seemed a bit bemused at how the goal was ruled out for a slight shove in the back on Thiago Silva. The decision also surprised Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel, who later on said that he thought the goal should have stood.

Tottenham Hotspur News: Antonio Conte was happy with his side’s performance

Antonio Conte was also critical of Paul Tierney’s decision to award Tanganga a yellow card in the first half. Tanganga received a booking for what looked like a soft challenge on Hudson Odoi, which seemingly meant he needed to tread with care for the rest of the match.

“What also hurt me a lot was the yellow card to (Japhet) Tanganga. It can seem a stupid thing but the yellow card changed the game for him. It also meant we had to substitute him. The referee tried to make the best decision. It could be good or bad.”

Despite the refereeing decisions, Chelsea were evidently the better team on the park and the difference in class between the two sides showed yet again. This was a third consecutive defeat for Tottenham Hotspur against Chelsea this month.

Although the good work seems to have started under Conte, he desperately needs signings in January. It is the only way they will become serious contenders for the Top-4 this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently seventh in the league with 36 points from 20 matches. Spurs remain 2 points behind Manchester United but have 2 games in hand. Antonio Conte now has a couple of weeks in hand as Spurs next take on Brighton on the 4th of February in the FA Cup.

Chelsea News: Thomas Tuchel hopes to control his emotions while facing Antonio Conte

Chelsea News: Thomas Tuchel has urged himself to keep his cool while guiding his side from the sidelines. The Chelsea boss let emotions take the better of him during their previous fixture against Brighton.

Tuchel was quite frustrated and angry at several decisions from the referee as Chelsea dropped points yet again in the league. A 1-1 draw against Brighton left them 13 points off Manchester City at the top.

With yet another big fixture coming up against London rivals, Tuchel hopes he is at his best as he looks to guide them to a victory. Tuchel knows it will be difficult to control his emotions in a game of this magnitude but is confident of reigning in his emotions as much as possible.

Thomas Tuchel said, “It doesn’t affect my coaching. You always need to find a good mix between emotions and a cool head, and this is on me like it is for the players.”

“You need to know about the importance of the game. We know what it means to the supporters, to know what it means at the league table, but you cannot get carried away by your emotions.”

“For example on Tuesday at Brighton, we were too much involved in our emotions, like frustration, anger or disappointment. When you play a derby against Tottenham or against an emotional guy like Conte, we cannot play from pure emotions.”

Chelsea News: Thomas Tuchel backed Romelu Lukaku to find his goal-scoring touch very soon

Thomas Tuchel and Lukaku

The German boss also hailed Antonio Conte for the work he has done ever since joining Tottenham. Claiming himself to be a huge fan of Conte, he recognised the dangers Tottenham possess as a team.

Tuchel considered himself very lucky to come up against the genius that is Antonio Conte. Despite coming up on top previously, he knows he needs to focus yet again to get the same result for the third time running.

Thomas Tuchel was also supportive of his struggling striker, Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker has not had the best of times this season, with goals hard to come by. Lukaku has only scored 5 goals this season in the league in 15 appearances.

However, Tuchel has backed him to regain his old form very soon. He cited the example of Harry Kane, who struggled to score goals at the beginning of the season. However, Kane looks to have found his mojo back in the recent games, and Tuchel hoped for something similar from his star No.9

Thomas Tuchel faces a must-win game against Spurs if they are to give themselves some chance to have a run at Manchester City. City dropped points against Southampton and a victory for Chelsea would bring down the deficit to 10 points for the time being.

Chelsea have had the edge over Spurs recently. However, it will be a whole new game as far as the German manager is concerned. The Blues won both their fixtures in the Carabao Cup semi-finals to cement their spot in the finals.
