“They Thought They Had Won The League”, Thibaut Courtois’ Dig Post La Liga Title Win

Published

on

Real Madrid has done it. They have won the La Liga this season and with some style. They beat Espanyol 4-0 with some really fine display of attacking football, with Rodrygo, Marco Asensio, and Karim Benzema on the scoresheet. There were jubilant celebrations after the match, with this being the 35th title, further extending their dominance in this competition. The players were all smiles, celebrating with each other as well as the manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has made a remarkable comeback himself, after a couple of years of mediocrity as Everton manager.

However, in the midst of all this celebration and joy, keeper Thibaut Courtois still had some words to say about their archrivals. He had not forgotten Barcelona and was quick to respond in his interview.

What Did Thibaut Courtois Say After The Match And Real Madrid’s La Liga Win

Post the match, Thibaut Courtois spoke to the reporters, especially about Barcelona, saying, “After the El Clasico, some celebrated like they won the league”, referring to the over-the-top celebrations of Barcelona after a 4-0 win over the Los Blancos.

This comes as a huge dig to the Catalans. They now have their tails well between their legs because what was thought to be a watershed moment in the title race turned out to be a false dawn. Barcelona only flattered to deceive, with losses against lower terms hampering their progress, allowing their bitter rivals to centre to the title. Thibaut Courtois was quick to remind them of it.

This La Liga title also has put Ancelotti in the history books, becoming the only manager to win Titles in the 5 leading leagues of the world. His league title with Real Madrid has added to his collection of league titles in Italy, England, France, and Germany. This is sweet redemption for a man who was considered to be finished as far as management is concerned.

With the Los Blancos still in the semifinals of the Champions League, with them still in the game after a 4-3 defeat to Man City, they will fancy their chances in the game, behind a vociferous Bernabeu.

Congratulations Real Madrid on winning yet another major title!!

According to Spanish journalist Sergio Santos, Kylian Mbappe reportedly asked Paris Saint-Germain to sign international teammate and Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele. This was one of the things promised by Paris Saint-Germain to Kylian Mbappe in order to get him to sign a new contract with the club.

It is also being reported that Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. had a fallout, after which the French striker asked the club ‘let Neymar go’. Now, the Ligue 1 champions are working to find a way to sell the Brazilian.

Kylian Mbappe is keen for PSG to sign Ousmane Dembele from Catalan giants Barcelona, with the 25-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of the season. The striker “wants new faces” at the club and “is convinced” the Barcelona forward would add a lot to his team next season. It seems as though Dembele will not sign an extension at the Nou Camp, after the offer from the Catalans did not meet his expectations.

PSG Have PROMISED Kylian Mbappe That They WILL SIGN Ousmane Dembele From Barcelona

As per Loic Tanzi, PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is personally handling the case of Ousmane Dembele. It is most likely that PSG will succeed in signing the French winger. There is no doubt, that PSG have the financial capabilities to match the demands that Dembele has made to Barcelona. Furthermore, the player will get to play in a dream team, full of generational talents, and will be payed a hefty salary.

RMC Sport are reporting that PSG and Nasser Al-Khelaifi “are negotiating” to bring in Dembele on a free transfer from Barcelona.

On the other hand, as the situation regarding the financial status of Barcelona gets worse, it is highly unlikely they can offer Ousmane Dembele a big contract that he is looking for. The Catalans need to lower their wage bill in order to avoid a penalty for Financial Fair Play from La Liga.

Xavi spoke briefly about Dembele at his presser on Saturday and said negotiations are “ongoing” but admitted tomorrow’s match could be his last in a Barcelona shirt.

The La Liga chief Javier Tebas has shut down all the rumors of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski signing for FC Barcelona.

In a recent statement to the Spanish publication Marca, Javier Tebas claimed that the financial situation of the La Liga giants will not allow them to go through with the signing of Robert Lewandowski.

FC Barcelona are in talks with Bayern Munich over the signing of Lewandowski. Xavi and the club staff consider the striker to be a big game player and a leader that would help build the squad together. Lewandowski has already told Bayern Munich that he won’t be signing a new extension in hope of joining the La Liga side.

La Liga chief Javier Tebas has doubts over whether Barcelona can afford Robert Lewandowski

According to the statement from La Liga president Javier Tebas: “As of today, I don’t see Lewandowski at Barcelona.”

“Other things have to happen that I don’t know if they are going to happen. The BLM [Barca Licensing and Merchandising] thing, Barca Studios sale, etc. In their budget, they had a sale of Barca Studios that I don’t see happening.”

“Lewandowski has one year left at Bayern. Between what Lewandowski wants to earn and what Bayern wants to take as a fee… It gives me the feeling, as of today, that we won’t see him at Barcelona.”

Tebas was also asked whether the potential sale of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, could help them in their quest to sign Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona might have to sell players including Frenkie de Jong so they can afford Lewandowski

“It could be enough depending on how much you sell for and depending on what Lewandowski costs. It could be €100 Million plus that is saved.”

“De Jong could give them that possibility, but I don’t know if they are even planning to sell. To date they have not sold him.”

According to multiple reports, there has been a personal agreement between Barcelona and Robert Lewandowski for a three year contract. The striker has also been in talks with Xavi over the potential move to the Nou Camp.
