The Athletic: Manchester United shortlist four names for permanent manager next season – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have reportedly shortlisted their preferred four candidates to become permanent manager next season.
According to David Ornstein (The Athletic), United have narrowed down their search to Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui.
The report also states that United are looking at managers with experience in managing top European clubs- something which all of these have in common.
The club will start the appointment process in the coming weeks.
Pochettino and Ten Hag have been mentioned numerous times as potential managerial candidates, however, it is the other two that are interesting picks.
Enrique is the current manager of the Spanish national team and will be looking to lead his team to glory in the Qatar FIFA World Cup.
He won the treble with Barcelona in the 2014/15 season and is one of the most successful managers working currently.
Lopetegui, on the other hand, is working wonders with Sevilla. His team are in second place, just four points behind league leaders Real Madrid. Sevilla defeated Man Utd in the 2020 Europa League semi-final and went on to win the competition.
Both Enrique and Lopetegui were linked with the position before Ralf Rangnick was appointed interim boss, prompting transfer guru Fabrizio Romano to rightly pour cold water on the rumours at the time.
All the names mentioned on United’s shortlist have a definite philosophy and preach an exciting brand of football that gets results.
However, the current United squad does not have many players suited to playing in their systems, hence a squad overhaul could be required.
It will also be interesting to see what happens with some out of favour players like Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Donny Van de Beek, who could all be part of the new manager’s plans next season.
Erik ten Hag

The Dutchman is expected to attend Man Utd’s final game of the season against Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park.
If West Ham United win their game against Brighton, United will require a win to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
The club could be at risk of dropping into the Conference League which could lead to a further financial blow.
From a transfer front, United are looking at strengthening the midfield, with strong links to Frenkie De Jong as a possible target.
Samuel Luckhurst( Manchester Evening News) stated that the club were looking at a long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic in defensive midfield.
As per The Telegraph, Ten Hag is said to be keen to bring Ajax’s Jurien Timber and Lisandro Martinez along with him to Old Trafford to bolster the defence.
Brazilian winger Anthony has also been mentioned as a possible target in what seems like a raid on Ajax players.
Daley Blind
Daley Blind believes Erik ten Hag deserves Manchester United’s full backing – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United star Daley Blind has given his thoughts on the club appointing Erik ten Hag as manager.
He played a big part in Man Utd’s Europa League win under Jose Mourinho, often slotting at centre back due to the absence of Eric Bailly.
Blind is currently a part of Ten Hag’s title-winning Ajax side, playing either at left back or at the base of midfield.
In an interview with The Metro, he gave his opinion on his manager leaving to join Man Utd.
He stated: “Erik ten Hag is a great guy. It’s not an easy job, of course, but he doesn’t run away from it either.”
“He takes up the challenge.”
“I am quite confident in him at Manchester United but he needs the board behind him.”
“At Ajax, he had [Edwin] Van der Sar and [Marc] Overmars behind him whatever happened, also in bad times.”
“I hope he gets the time there, he is one of the best managers around.”
“Ten Hag leaves nothing to chance. Sometimes we faced an opponent that we would automatically underestimate and we thought, ‘we don’t need a 45-minute meeting for this.”
“But he approaches every single game the same, tactical training sessions.. everything is detailed.”
Ten Hag is expected to attend United’s final game of the season against Crystal Palace before taking office as permanent manager.

The Red Devils are advised to sign Jarrod Bowen from West Ham in the summer

Manchester United Transfer News: Erik ten Hag has been asked to sign West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen to resolve Manchester United’s problems on the right flank.
Ten Hag has turned his mind to the massive rebuilding work that confronts him at Old Trafford., after winning the Eredivisie title with Ajax last week. The Dutchman is anticipated to be busy in the transfer market.
United’s problems in defense and central midfield have been well chronicled. However, Ten Hag will also have to deal with other challenges.
One issue that has gone unnoticed is United’s lack of options on the right-wing. Jadon Sancho is the only recognised right-winger on the team. Mason Greenwood is suspended, and Marcus Rashford enjoys being on the left flank as well.

Andy Townsend, on the other hand, believes Bowen is the ideal solution to United’s right-wing dilemma. Bowen, 25, has been in superb form for the Hammers this season. He has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists, and Townsend believes he would be ideal for the job at Old Trafford.
“Jarrod Bowen has been terrific,” Townsend stated on talkSPORT. He’s been fantastic lately. I’ll tell you what, I’m sure West Ham will receive a bid or two for him this summer.
“Would you like to see him play for Manchester United? You’d do it like a shot. He can play in any position. I’ve seen him play up the middle for West Ham. He’d get in the lineup anywhere he wanted for United. I’d put him on the right side of the field.”

Bowen, is primarily a left-footer but he has thrived on the right flank for West Ham. He has played a key role in the club’s push for European glory.
His stunning performances this season have drawn the attention of some big-name suitors. Liverpool was linked to the former Hull City player on a weekly basis before signing Luis Diaz in January.
West Ham is desperate to keep Bowen
The Hammers are anxious to hold down their talisman to a new contract. The Londoners had offered to quadruple the winger’s weekly income of £60,000.
However, it remains to be seen whether some of Europe’s heavyweights, such as United, will be able to swoop in before a deal is done. West Ham is also trying to tie down Bowen’s team-mate, Declan Rice.
Rice has also been linked with a big-money move to Manchester United. The Hammers are convinced that Rice will not leave this summer. However, Rice rejected their eight-year contract recently.
