Spurs will find it difficult to keep Conte if PSG comes calling, Brendan Rodgers

Published

Tottenham Hotspur News: Brendan Rodgers has told Tottenham that if PSG comes knocking, they will have to battle tooth and nail to keep Antonio Conte.

The Leicester manager argued that the Italian’s track record shows that he wants to work with the best, and the Qatar-backed club has plenty of them.

PSG’s job has become one of the best in the world, with Sergio Ramos in defence, Marco Verratti in midfield, and Lionel Messi in the attack. Conte’s name has been mentioned in the French press this week as a possible successor for Mauricio Pochettino, who has come under fire in Paris.

Although Conte, 52, denounced the rumours as “false news” during his pre-match press conference. Rodgers claimed he wasn’t surprised that his managerial counterpart’s name was being mentioned.

Antonio is certainly a very talented coach,” he remarked. And he’s made it obvious that he wants to work with the finest. That’s all there is to it. It’s all about having the best players.”

If you don’t have them, you’re assisting people in becoming the finest version of themselves.” Some coaches only want to work with the top players, and Antonio appears to be one of them.”

“He had a fantastic time at Juventus, where he played alongside some fantastic players. Then he brought in a team that was powerful – and they did well there as well. He’s made it clear that he wants more top players at Tottenham. That’s something we’d all desire – but things don’t always work out.”

He has the capacity to put together teams that play a specific brand of football. He knows exactly what he wants to do. If he leaves Spurs and joins PSG, he will be a fantastic coach for them. On the other side, Mauricio Pochettino was a wonderful manager. Thomas Tuchel was in the same boat as Unai Emery, who had gone before him.

Rodgers is expected to mix and match his lineup in north London ahead of Thursday’s Europa Conference League semi-final against Roma. With prodigy Wesley Fofana returning from a long layoff, it’s unlikely he’ll make too many changes at the back.

The 21-year-old was signed from St Etienne for £30 million in October 2020. However, he is still recovering from a fractured leg, and he will be needed to stop Harry Kane.

Kane’s favourite victims include the Foxes. He’s scored 18 goals in 17 games against them, but Rodgers is encouraged by Fofana’s comeback.

He predicted that “Wesley will develop into a world-class central defender. When we signed him from St Etienne, he had only played 17 games. We just saw something in him that said he had the potential to play at this level, and now that we’ve worked with him, it has been validated.

Spurs rub salt into Arsenal wounds after gaining Gabriel Jesus transfer advantage

Tottenham Hotspur News: Spurs are prepared to compete with Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus after beating their rivals to a Champions League position.

Spurs clinched a top-four finish with a 5-0 victory over Norwich on the last day of the season. The win meant that Arsenal will play Europa League next season. Antonio Conte’s team waited too long to catch up to their bitter rivals in the standings.

Arsenal have emerged as the frontrunners to recruit Jesus. The striker is poised to depart Manchester City for regular first-team action this summer.

But a new report from The Telegraph has revealed that Tottenham could also attempt to strike a deal for the 25-year-old in the coming months.

Mikel Arteta is anxious to add quality attacking reinforcements to his squad this summer, and Spurs’ interest will be a harsh blow to him.

While the Gunners’ decision to sign Jesus was not entirely based on the prospect of playing in the Champions League, the Spaniard may find it difficult to persuade the Brazilian striker to go to the Emirates if Spurs’ interest grows.

Conte wants to add a new center-back and a midfielder to his squad. Tottenham’s leadership are expected to back Conte in the transfer market this summer.

Following Sunday’s result, Conte emphasised the significance of fresh recruits once more. “It’s critical not to forget the path we took to attempt to improve the situation because we need to improve the situation,” he said.

“Next season, there will undoubtedly be five substitutions and another competition. Tottenham must recognise that it will be extremely difficult, perhaps even more so than this season.”

This is not the appropriate moment to discuss this subject. Today is an important day to recognise this significant success. However, in order to be competitive and ready to battle for anything significant, you must grow significantly in many areas. I only have one word for you: work, work, work.

“In this process, everyone must take the correct path. We have a long way to go. The league will be extremely difficult for all teams next season.”

A game can be changed with just five subs. If you want to have a strong bench like City, Chelsea, United, or Liverpool, you’ll need to increase your squad in both quality and quantity. In England, you must compete in three national competitions and one Champions League match.”

Tottenham News: Christian Romero joined Spurs on loan from Atalanta at the start of the current season.

The Argentina international has been in superb form since making the move, playing a key role as Spurs push for a place in the top-four. He has played 22 league games this season, scoring one goal.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski joined the London-based club on loan from Juventus during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old made himself an instant hit among Spurs fans – like Romero. He played 17 Premier League games so far, scoring three and assisting eight goals. The Sweden international also won the Premier League Player of the Month accolade in April.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are ready to spend £67.5 million to make Dejan Kulusevski and Christian Romero’s loan deals permanent in the summer.

The duo impressed Antonio Conte, who sees them as key members of the project for the present and future. Romero’s deal will cost Spurs £42.5 million, while Kulusevski has a buy-out clause of £25 million(as reported by the Daily Mail).

Arnaut Danjuma is now on the Spurs’ radar

According to reports, Spurs are looking to sign Villareal attacker Arnaut Danjuma during the upcoming summer transfer window. Fabio Paratici reportedly sent scouts to watch the attacker during Villareal’s UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against Liverpool last month.

The Dutch international has been a revelation since joining the Spanish side from Bournemouth at the start of the current season. He has scored 10 goals in 23 league appearances for the club so far.

The 25-year-old also scored six goals in 11 UEFA Champions League fixtures prior to Yellow’s elimination from the tournament.

However, the London-based club is likely to face competition from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, who have also shown interest in signing him. However, Villareal are likely to demand a transfer fee of close to £50 million to sell their prized assets.

What’s next?

Spurs are the favorites to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. They are currently fourth in the league table, with 68 points from 37 games. Antonio Conte’s men will play Norwich City at Carrow Road during their last league game of the season.

The Gunners heading towards another disastrous ending!

Published

Arsenal News: It seems as if Arsenal just cannot get a hold of their nerves when the season’s about to end. Mikel Arteta’s men were the favorites to secure the fourth position in the league couple of weeks back.

However, now the tables have turned and Arsenal no longer holds the matter in their own hands. 2 back to back defeats have derailed Arsenal’s advantage and now Tottenham is in the driving seat.

It was perhaps the beating at Spurs which led to this catastrophe for Arsenal. It was as if the team just didn’t show up. After the loss to Tottenham, both the games were must-win games for Arsenal.

Tottenham had already secured the victory against Burnley which meant that Arsenal had to do the same. However, the team didn’t look like they were playing for something. In fact, it was Newcastle who was dominant in the entire game.

Being 1-0 down with the season on the line, Mikel Arteta did what any manager would do. He threw in Martinelli, Lacazette, and Pepe to build some attacking pressure on Newcastle.

However, Arsenal wasn’t able to create even one lucrative goal-scoring opportunity. Mikel Arteta was feeling let down by his players because he knows that this team is capable of much better.

This was his statement as per Sporting News. “That I’m extremely disappointed, that Newcastle was 10 times better than us and fully deserved the match,” Arteta told his players, according to the manager himself.

“And the performance is just nowhere near the level that we have to play if we want to play in the Champions League.” It was an off night for Arsenal at a very crucial point in the season.

As of now, Tottenham holds the 2-point advantage. All Konte’s men have to do is not lose, even if the game ends in a draw Tottenham will still secure the 4th position on basis of their superior Goal Difference.

Arsenal will have to win and hope for a Spurs defeat. Although, considering the form Tottenham are in it’s highly unlikely they will lose to a relegated Norwich City. Most likely it will be another Europa League adventure for Arsenal.

There are talks of the competition taking in 4 more teams from different leagues. So the Arsenal being at 5th does stand a small chance. However, it would be stupid to attach real hope to that.

Mikel Arteta will need some changes to the roster before the next season starts. In games like this, you need a vocal leader in midfield. Someone who takes the ball and makes things happen. Arsenal is full of potential starlets but no one midfielder could be seen as a leader. That should be the priority for the Gunners heading into the future.
