Shearer tells Newcastle to wrap up Jesse Lingard deal

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has implored the club to get a deal over the line for out-of-favour Manchester United star Jesse Lingard.

It is no secret in the media that Lingard is not happy at Old Trafford after failing to get the minutes that he was promised in the summer, and there has been alot of rumours that he wants out.

That opened the door to the new Newcastle board to show their interest in getting a Premier League deal done, and many reports have suggested that the Toon have been in contact about a possible loan deal for Lingard

Lingard would reportedly favour a loan move to St James’ Park given their current predicament and the Magpies are running out of time to reach an agreement for the attacking midfielder.

Addressing the media earlier this week, United interim manager Rangnick said he was aware of Newcastle’s interest but was unable to confirm whether Lingard would be staying or going.

‘With regard to Jesse, it’s the same as with quite a few other players,’ the German told reporters earlier this week.

‘He’s a really good player, I see that in every training session. For me it’s normal that other clubs like, for example, Newcastle show interest in him.

‘I’m not the one who is dealing with that. I know there might be some interest from other clubs but if you ask me now what will happen in the next 10 days until the closure of the window, I can’t answer that question I’m afraid.’

Shearer made it clear where he stands on the matter with a clear message to Newcastle on Twitter.

‘Would Jesse Lingard be a good signing for Newcastle United?’ a tweet from Statman Dave asked, to which Shearer bluntly responded: ‘YES’

Arteta says Arsenal announcement on trio to happen soon

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted the futures of Eddie Nketiah -Alexandre Lacazette and Mohamed Elneny will be announced soon

As it stands right now – Lacazette – Elneny and Nketiah are all out of contract at the end of the month after failing to agree new deals at the Emirates that will keep them at the club for the foreseeable future

Nketiah has enjoyed an excellent end to the season, netting again against Everton, but Arsenal’s pursuit of a new forward could see him bumped down the pecking order once again.

Lacazette is a player that has been at the Emirates for some time now – but with his career coming towards the back-end of his playing days – he is not the same striker that he was just a few seasons ago.

Elneny has played a key role in the run in of the Premier League season and it seems that he has already agreed a new deal with the club -although that deal has not yet been announced by the Gunners baord

Arteta did not confirm the situation regarding the three players but said the trio’s next steps would be announced soon – suggesting some of the players would have different fates, Arteta explained: ‘I will speak to the three players now or tomorrow and after that we will need to move on. But we have clear ideas of what we want to do.’

He continued: ‘It’s been decided but it’s very difficult to communicate it.

‘What they deserve is to have a little bit of what they had today, but to do it earlier one way or the other with three situations like that is very, very awkward and it could affect the team.

‘So as a club we have to do the right thing, in the right moment and sometimes to have those two things combine is not easy at all. But we will try to do the right thing.’

There are some players in that Arsenal squad that Arteta should keep and there are some players that he should allow to leave the club in the summer

Fans will pretty much know the fates of the trio – but they will want the club to spend some serious money in the coming transfer window to build on the season they have just had

De Gea reveals he wants to stay at Man United

Spanish stopper David De Gea has revealed his plans to stay at Manchester United for next season.

There has been too many players in that Man United side this season that look like they do not want to be at the Manchester giants – that they are only there for the money and do not give everything for the side

But De Gea is one player that is able to hold his head up high this season after regaining his form for the club and establishing himself as one of the best in the Premier League – despite the poor finish to the season.

However, there has been some speculation in the media which has suggested that he could be one player that is open to leaving the club – with a move back to Spanish football something that he was reportedly interested in.

But it seems that he has other plans after coming out and announcing that he wants to be at Man United for the start of next season – but has told the players that want to leave – to just leave

“I want to forget this season and be 100% ready for next season. It has been horrible,” he told BBC Sport.

“Ones who want to stay, stay at the club. Ones that don’t want to stay go out. You don’t have to stay”.

Would Dest be a good signing for Chelsea?

BARCELONA are ready to let full-back Sergio Dest leave for £24m, and Chelsea are ready to make a move – but would he be a good signing for the Blues?

This Chelsea squad has defensive issues, cannot score the goals the club need and will need to replace both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, as they will be leaving the club for nothing in the transfer window.

He will also know that he will need to add some more quality to that back-line – as that has been a real issue for the club this season as they failed to get back into the race to win that Premier League title

Right-sided defender Dest that can operate on the left, has become a reported target of the Blues as the board know Barcelona need funds in order to buy the quality of player Xavi needs to get the club back to the top of the game

It had been claimed that Thomas Tuchel had told the Chelsea board that he would like to the club to sign Dest this transfer window, either on loan or on a more permanent basis.

However, according to reports emerging from Spain – Barcelona will allow the likes of Chelsea to snap up the wing-back in a deal worth just £24 million

IcFootballnews View…

Tuchel will know what players can make an impact on the side and what players cannot

Dest is certainly a player that is not top-level – but is a very solid defender that could be a very good addition to that Chelsea squad

So if the reports are true and he is keen on a move to Chelsea – £24 million is not alot of money to spend in todays football world is it? and as we said – he could be a very solid addition to the Blues side

He is not the superstar that the fans would like to see arrive at the club but neither was Cesare Azpilicueta – and he turned out to be a real bargain for the club

So we believe that he could be a good signing for Chelsea – especially for the money
