Roy Keane: Manchester United legend lambasts Harry Maguire’s ‘rubbish’ comments on MUTV – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has blasted Harry Maguire‘s latest comments on MUTV, labelling them as ‘rubbish.’

The United captain has been under a heap of criticism due to his recent performances and his inability to inspire the team as a whole.

His individual mistakes have cost the team crucial points this season, and many fans have voiced their displeasure over social media.

This has been compounded due to United’s woeful start to the season which seemed promising in the beginning.

In a recent interview with MUTV, Maguire spoke about how the team is united in their efforts to turn things around: “We are all angry and want to do our best, which has probably come across on the pitch at times.

“But the team spirit is good, despite what people say.”

“We have big players in the team; leaders. I’m sick of repeating myself but it can’t continue like this – we need to go on a proper run, starting Monday.”

Keane however, was annoyed at the 28 year old’s statements.  Speaking to ITV, he said:   “How many times has he said that? I wouldn’t listen too much to what Harry has to say.”

“I judge a player on what he does on a football pitch, not what rubbish he comes out with about ‘we need to stick together.”

“Judge a player on what happens on a football pitch.”

“United aren’t doing enough, but Aston Villa at home, you’d expect them to turn up and put in a good performance. It’s not been good enough recently.”

The Red Devils face Villa tonight at Old Trafford in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

Ralf Rangnick will know that this competition presents the best chance for his team to win silverware this season and will expect a strong response from his players tonight.

Ralf Rangnick explains Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek loan and transfer situation – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick says he wants Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson to stay at the club for the rest of this season but that both would like to get game time.

Speaking at today’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Villa Park to play Aston Villa, the manager said:

‘I told [Henderson] that I’d like him to stay because he’s a fantastic goalkeeper.

‘Yesterday in training he made a couple of fantastic saves, I’d really like to have him on board as one of three top goalkeepers that we have.

‘I fully understand he wants to play because he’s at an age where as a goalkeeper you should regularly play, but on the other hand we’re still in three competitions so we need the two or three goalkeepers we have right now.

‘I told him that.’

‘[Donny] is the same situation as it is with Dean.

‘I’m glad to have him in the squad. He came on for the last 15-20 minutes in the cup game and did well.

‘He’s always performing at a high level in training.

‘For him I had a conversation with him a couple of weeks ago.

‘I advised him to stay until the end of the season.

‘And then of course with the World Cup coming up in the winter he wants to play World Cup for his country, and Louis van Gaal told him to be a regular starter in the World Cup, he needs to regularly play for his team.

‘We have a lot of competition in our squad in those positions.’

The manager’s words suggested that he was not insisting that either player stays, leaving the door open for a January move.

Rangnick also confirmed that both Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo should be available for tomorrow’s game.

‘I think they will be available,’ he said.

‘They only trained yesterday for the first time, Cristiano trained today, Harry I think the day before yesterday

‘So as it seems now, we have to wait for the final training session this afternoon but they should be available for tomorrow.

AC Milan want Eric Bailly

Manchester United News: AC Milan is facing a centre-back crisis. The Italian giants have injury and form issues with their current central defenders. If the reports are to be believed, they are looking at Eric Bailly of Manchester United to solve their crisis.

The San Siro side wants to sign the Ivory Coast international on a loan deal till the end of the season.

The defender is currently on international duty with Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations. The rumours haven’t stopped, even though he won’t be available for the next two weeks.

Sky Italia (via Sports Mole) has suggested that Milan rate the defender very highly. They think Bailly can be their ideal January signing till the season end.

Manchester United News: Bailly’s career at United.

Eric Bailly joined Manchester United in 2016 from Villarreal. He was the first signing made by Jose Mourinho at the club. The Ivory Coast international has been at the club since 2016 but has made only 70 Premier League appearances in almost six years.

The defender has been hit by injuries since his arrival. The former Villarreal man was rated very highly and United paid a good sum of money, but so far, they haven’t seen the best of him.

The record English champions will be hoping for an injury-free Bailly at the club after his international duties. Varane has just come from an injury while Jones played a game in Premier League after 2 years.

What does the report say?

According to the report, AC Milan is also looking at a few other options. Those names include Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, Arsenal’s Pablo Mari, and Chelsea’s Malang Sarr.

The 27-year-old’s future at United is looking bleak. It had been reported that Bailly is not happy with his playing time even after signing a new deal before the start of the season.

The Espanyol academy graduate has fallen in the pecking order at Old Trafford. He still has more than 2 years left on his contract, but it’s getting very difficult for him to be a starter.

Manchester United News: Bailly’s future is bleak at United?

The Red Devils signed Raphael Varane in the summer, and they have Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and a returning Phil Jones. The partnership of Varane and Maguire is the first choice, followed by the Swedish captain Lindelof.

Ray of Hope?

The only thing that’s working in favour of Bailly at the club is an injury to his teammates. Harry Maguire is struggling with form and fitness recently. Lindelof suffering from Covid-19. The injuries mean United will need all hands on deck going in the second half of the season.

Whether Bailly makes a move or remains at United, fans would love to see him fit and get a good run of games.

Harry Maguire fired up in in-depth interview with Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United star Harry Maguire has given an in-depth interview addressing the rumours surrounding the squad and Ralf Rangnick.

The club captain has been out of action of late due to injuries but is expected to return soon to help his side recover some form.

According to the club’s official website, Maguire said: “I’m the captain and leader in the dressing room, and I’ve had private conversations with the players and the management which will remain private.

“Make no mistake about it, I’m here for the fight and I know my team-mates are. I expect them to be and if they’re not then – like I said – there’s something wrong.

“We have a big squad. Of course, not all players will always be happy as they are not playing but that’s football and we all have to remain professional.”

Maguire added: “He [Rangnick] has made an impact – we win together and lose together. The manager is there to set us up tactically which we absolutely take on board.

“We listen to him and his staff. It’s up to us once the game starts. Every club has issues, not just us, and some of their issues are much bigger than ours. But yes, it does come with the territory at United.”

Maguire then said: “I came here to win titles. I could have signed elsewhere but I wanted to be at United and help get them back to the winning ways that the club had in the Sir Alex era.

“It will come if we all stay together. I grew up idolising the likes of Wayne, Rio and Vidic and I want to repeat what they achieved. I’m privileged to be captain and I’ve got a responsibility to lead the players and turn things round.”

Lastly, Maguire said: “His [Rangnick] detail and preparation are enormous, we have full respect and trust in his methods. Yes, it’s difficult when the coaching team changes mid-season like it does at loads of clubs.

“[But] I will say it again – it’s down to us as players. The quality and leaders are in the team to ensure we finish the season in the top four and with a trophy.”

Maguire himself has been criticised this season due to some underwhelming performances, with some even calling for him to be stripped off the armband.

It seems the England international has struggled to fully recover from a busy and difficult summer with his national side.

Maguire’s looked a shadow of himself, leaving some fans to claim he should be taken away from the firing line for his own sake.

The talented defender clearly needs a mental break and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him come back from injury to recover his best form.

However, it’s more likely Maguire will recover mentally and physically next season instead, as it tends to happen.

Fans will remember well when the same happened to Gary Neville, who similarly struggled to put behind him a difficult summer with his country.

Time will tell whether Maguire can defend himself in light of the criticism he’s received but it’s safe to say his team will need him at his best if they want to challenge for silverware once more.
