One Liverpool star widely targeted following Arsenal stalemate

‘He’s just not good enough’: One Liverpool star widely targeted following Arsenal stalemate

Liverpool’s supporters have flooded to social media this evening, to highlight their frustrations with one member of the club’s frontline.

Arsenal stand tall

Jurgen Klopp’s men marked their return to action a short time ago.

After cruising into the 4th-round of the FA Cup at the expense of minnows Shrewsbury at the weekend, the Reds tonight welcomed Arsenal to Anfield, hoping to take a significant step towards the finale of the Carabao Cup, in the rescheduled first-leg of their tie with the Gunners.

And, when Granit Xhaka was given his marching orders inside 25 minutes for a last-man challenge on Diogo Jota, Liverpool looked well on their way to precisely that:

Unfortunately for Klopp and co., however, when all was said and done, they simply couldn’t manage to produce the one moment of quality required to secure a first-leg advantage.

A stout Arsenal backline, led by the near faultless Ben White, ultimately stood tall, to keep themselves firmly in the tie ahead of next week’s return leg in north London.

‘Not good enough’

Whilst the Gunners will no doubt return to base in the capital delighted with a superb result on Thursday evening, though, back on Merseyside, the inquest will now get underway.

Though they were unable to call on the talents of star attackers Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane versus Arsenal, the near full-strength XI called upon by Jurgen Klopp should nevertheless have simply had too much for a depleted Arsenal outfit.

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close on Thursday night, it should not come as all that much of a surprise to hear of the Liverpool faithful being up in arms.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Milner and Diogo Jota have all been singled out for deserved criticism, owing to hugely underwhelming individual displays.

None, however, has been more widely targetted than the seldom-utilised Takumi Minamino.

This comes after the Japanese international, with the goal at his mercy, fluffed a glorious chance to bag an all -important Liverpool winner amid the closing exchanges at Anfield:

Minamino, as a result, has since been widely singled out as simply ‘not good enough’, with just some of the highlights from across social media showcased below:

When Ansu Fati is expected to return for FC Barcelona

When Ansu Fati is expected to return for FC Barcelona

An insight into when Barcelona can expect Ansu Fati to return from his latest injury has been provided.

The Spaniard had not been back from injury too long before he suffered yet another blow during Barcelona’s 3-2 loss to Athletic Bilboa on the 20th of January.

Following the game, Barcelona reported that Fati had a left biceps femoris injury.

Concern has since no doubt spread over how long Fati could potentially be out for.

And, unfortunately for Fati and Barca fans, it was reported that should the Spaniard need to go under the knife, he could be out for three months. This would have likely seen Fati out until around the 20th of April, 2022.

Now though, Marca have provided a new update on the situation.

They report that Fati and his entourage have looked at the periods of absence other players have suffered with the same injury as the winger, and they have determined he is expected to return in 60 days.

Fati suffered the injury on January 20th, so that would suggest he could be back around March 20th – a month earlier than had previously been reported above.

Ansu Fati to miss huge Barcelona game

Great news for the player and Barcelona, but it will not help Xavi Hernandez and co. in their next match.

La Blaugrana are set to face off with Atletico Madrid in their first game back after the break on February 6th.

The tie is a huge one for both sides – who are all but out of the title race this campaign – and could be vital in their attempts to secure Champions League football next term.

Barcelona head into the game at the Camp Nou sat 5th in La Liga, which would currently see them placed in the Europa League next campaign.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, are 4th in the Spanish top-flight, but are currently only one point above Barcelona having played the same number of games.

Manchester United’s Amad Diallo nets on Rangers debut

Manchester United’s Amad Diallo has made an instant impact on his debut for new club, Rangers.

Diallo would, of course, join Manchester United from Atalanta in January of 2021.

The 19-year-old has made a handful of appearances for the Red Devils’ senior side, scoring one and assisting one in the process.

But Diallo has spent most of his time in England either playing for United’s under-23s or on the injury table.

So, a loan move to get some much-needed playing time did make sense for Diallo, who joined Rangers earlier this week for the remainder of 2021/22.

Despite his limited experience, Diallo was thrust straight into Ranger’s starting line-up this weekend when they took on Ross County in an SPL clash.

And Diallo had an almost instant impact, scoring his first Rangers goal after just five minutes, which you can watch below:

Rangers’ title charge

Should Rangers pick up three points on Saturday, which seems likely at present, it moves them seven points clear of 2nd place Celtic.

Celtic, however, still have a game in hand on Rangers, so that gap could be reduced to four this weekend.

But it still does look likely that Rangers are set to defender their SPL crown despite losing Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa earlier in the season.

Denis Zakaria set to hand Arsenal & Aston Villa potential boost in midfielder hunt

Denis Zakaria set to hand Arsenal & Aston Villa potential boost in midfielder hunt

A transfer update surrounding Juventus that has emerged on Saturday could be great news for two Premier League clubs.

The Premier League clubs in question are Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Arsenal, for their part, had been linked with Juventus’ Arthur Melo for much of the January window, but that deal looked to have collapsed.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, are said to want to sign Rodrigo Bentancur from the Turin-based outfit:

Aston Villa & Arsenal boost?

Now, Juventus are reportedly needing to get rid of one of these two players soon.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have submitted an opening proposal to sign Denis Zakaria immediately, but the Italians need at least one midfielder to leave in the next hours.

Romano goes on to name Arthur and Bentancur as the players that could leave right now.

Given the winter window slams shut on Monday, Juventus seemingly need to act fast to get a midfielder or two out.

And with Arsenal having already been in contact over Arthur, it would make sense that Juve let him depart to the Gunners, instead of waiting for another team to come in for the Brazilian.
