There has always been a curse around the tag of the Arsenal skipper. This has haunted the fans of the club for decades now, with many of their top captains leaving the club eventually, after putting in a solid showing. With that being said, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already left and Alexandre Lacazette is on the verge of an exit, at the end of the current campaign too.
With that being said, there were media outlets talking about who the next Arsenal skipper should be. Names like Kieran Tierney and Martin Odegaard had been thrown around in recent times, with the latter actually captaining the team against Southampton. However, things did not go his way, as he was poor in the game and the team lost 1-0.
The Big Question- Who Will Be The Next Arsenal Skipper!!?
Things did improve for Arsenal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where they won 4-2. Once again Odegaard was the skipper and this time on the right side of things. He claimed an assist for a brilliant open-play goal scored by Emile Smith Rowe in the match too. It was a big win for the Gunners away from home and the fans couldn’t stop cheering for their side.
The other contender for the armband is Tierney, who is really vocal about his opinions on the pitch. With the Scot picking up a long-term injury on international duty that ended his season early, things are right now in favour of the Norwegian, who also captains his international team.
With that being said, the big call could be made in the upcoming weeks. Another name that was doing the rounds was Thomas Partey, who is also injured at present. The Ghanaian was really impressive prior to pulling a muscle during the loss to Crystal Palace. Though the team has tried to recoup form since then, it was only in the London derby that they looked their best self.
Things could get really interesting in the days to follow, as the next permanent Arsenal skipper gets finalized. Who do you think should lead the team?
