Laurie Whitwell confirms Manchester United’s midfield transfer plans this January – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly working on signing a central midfielder this month.

The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell confirmed on the Talk Of the Devils podcast that Ralf Rangnick is looking to strengthen that area of his team and that the club is working towards a possible signing.

“In terms of incomings, Ralf Rangnick does want a central midfielder to come in this month and there are talks in the works for that. There’s a couple of names I’ve heard, but I want to make a few more checks before naming them.”

The possible names could include Denis Zakaria, a player who has recently been heavily linked to United.

Another two players who could be on United’s radar are Amadou Haidara and Boubacar Kamara.

The trio has been mentioned in multiple reports since Rangnick took over.

Aurélien Tchouaméni is another name that has been linked with an Old Trafford move, although a winter signing would be complicated in this case.

This would be a much-needed signing for United, who have been crying out for another option in midfield.

With Paul Pogba injured, Scott McTominay, Fred and Nemanja Matic are the only midfielders available for Rangnick to choose from.

Although competent, neither of them can dictate tempo from the centre of the park which results in United getting dominated by weaker teams.

The team needs a change in dynamic in midfield and fans will be pleased that the club is actively looking to buy someone this month.

Man United can sign Haidara if £33 million clause is met

RB Leipzig star Amadou Haidara is once again being tipped for a move to Manchester United.

Despite a ferocious spending spree which saw Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Cristiano Ronaldo join the club in the summer transfer window, United currently find themselves in a race for the top four rather than the Premier League title

It is very clear to see that United boss Ralph Rangnick needs some back-up if he is to get this side back into the hunt for that Premier League title, rather than just a Champions League place

And that has led to rumours that he could Haidara is a man that Rangnick would like this transfer window

The United boss was the man who convinced the Mali international to join him at Leipzig, despite the fact he was carrying an injury at the time.

In December, Haidara spoke glowingly about the United manager in an interview with Bild, before stating Manchester United was his favourite team growing up.

Haidara understands Rangnick’s demanding philosophy inside out, and United desperately need a new deep-lying midfielder who can provide a safety blanket to the defence and efficiently move the ball to the front-line.

According to the The Mirror, Haidara will be allowed to depart the club if United pay his release clause, estimated to be around £33m.

IcFootballnews view….

This United side have a bunch of world class players in it, but they seemingly cant work together and there are too many issues on that pitch. The answer is not always to delve into that transfer kitty and add a few more players, but they need too

This United side may struggle to get back into a top four spot when they have the players to challenge. Haidara is a solid player that will do the job he will be brought for

Three midfielders linked with Manchester United in the January window

Manchester United News: The club’s midfield problems are known to the world. The 20 times champions have struggled a lot in recent years in the absence of quality midfielders.

Nemanja Matic was a world-beater in his prime but is now 33 years of age and not at his usual best. Paul Pogba’s time at the club is coming to an end in summer as well.

Fred and Scott McTominay have been tried in the midfield, but they are not good enough to make United title challengers.

Manchester United gets linked with multiple midfielders every summer and this year is no different. However, with Ralf Rangnick at the helm, they are more likely to get the job done.

Manchester United News: 3 midfielder linked with the Red Devils

Today we will talk about the three midfielders who are linked to United in January:

1. Amadou Haidara

The moment Manchester United announced Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager, RB Leipzig players started being linked to the club. However, Amadou Haidara is one name that is talked about more than others.

The Mali international was brought to RB Leipzig was none other than Ralf Rangnick and it turned out to be a masterstroke. The former Salzburg man has been a standout performer for the German side.

The 23-year-old didn’t take any time to adapt to the pace of the league and has been commanding in the middle of the park for the Leipzig team.

The dynamic midfielder is available for 33 million pounds, which is his release clause. If Manchester United can sign him, it could turn out to be a transfer masterstroke on the part of the Red Devils.

2. Franck Kessie

Franck Kessie is linked to Manchester United ever since he rejected a new deal with AC Milan. The highly rated midfielder’s contract is due to expire in the summer. This means he is eligible to sign pre-contract agreements with other clubs from January.

The Ivory Coast midfielder is quick, strong, mobile, and can retain the ball with ease. He had a pass success rate of 88.9 percent last season.

Kessie has chipped with crucial goals in the past even though most of them are coming from penalty kicks. Kessie is an aggressive protective presence in the middle that can alleviate United’s performance.

3. Boubacar Kamara

Just like Franck Kessie, Boubacar Kamara’s contract is also coming to an end in the summer. The former French u21 international isn’t looking to sign an extension. The decision is well known to his club, Olympique Marseille and they are happy to sell him in the January window.

The 22-year-old Frenchman is a defensive midfielder who Manchester United needs badly. The youngster is touted as one of the best in the position and can be used as a centre-back as well if needed.

However, Manchester United will have to fight off competition from AC Milan as well as Saudi-backed Newcastle United in the January window.

Fabrizio Romano tells Manchester United fans the latest transfer news – Man United News And Transfer News

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has given Manchester United fans a long update on what the ongoing plans are at the club regarding incomings and outgoings.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick is quickly closing down on his first transfer window at the club and many are predicting some activity to happen.

For those unable to see the Tweets above, Utdreport have quoted Romano as saying: “It is not going to be easy for #mufc to sign Erling Haaland. What happened with Paul Pogba affected the situation between Mino Raiola and United. Many clubs are interested but nothing advanced at the moment and nothing will be decided right now.

“#mufc are focusing on a defensive midfielder in the January window and are considering options.

“#mufc are interested in Boubacar Kamara but nothing advanced at the moment #mulive

“At the moment, there is absolutely nothing between #mufc and Sergej Milinković-Savić #mulive

“#mufc sent a scout to Argentina to watch Julián Álvarez but there are currently no negotiations #mulive

“If Anthony Martial leaves in January it is unlikely #mufc will let Edinson Cavani leave also #mulive

“Amadou Haidara is appreciated by Ralf Rangnick but there are currently no negotiations #mulive

“Newcastle have contacted Jesse Lingard but he is not interested in a move in January and wants to fight for his place at #mufc #mulive”

Although Romano suggests Haaland joining United will be difficult due to Raiola’s relationship with the club, it’s likely if a deal is beneficial to all three parties then past mistakes won’t matter.

The Red Devils fan base would love to see a defensive-midfielder join this winter and it seems it’s either Kamara or Haidara who are the main options.

Milinkovic-Savic links have long been around, with him essentially becoming the Nicolas Gaitan of transfer rumours in regards to deals that never happened.

Alvarez is hot property at the minute so it’s not a surprise to see Manchester United have a look for themselves, particularly with the Martial and Cavani rumours.

If Haaland truly is unattainable then it makes sense to look elsewhere and the South American appears to be a great prospect.

The Lingard news is a confirmation from Romano as previous articles have come out from the Athletic and the Telegraph that stated the player has no intentions to move this January.
