“Judging Lionel Messi By Goals Is The Biggest Crime”- Fans Call PSG Superstar The Greatest Play-Maker Of All Time

Football fans from all around the world made sure to voice their appreciation for the Argentinian forward Lionel Messi after his hat-trick of assists in PSG’s victory over Clermont Foot in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Lionel Messi has been heavily criticized ever since his transfer to Paris for his lack of goals. The forward was heavily criticized by the Paris Saint Germain fans for his poor performances against Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the Champions League. He was booed and jeered by the fans after their exit from the Champions League. There were even some rumors that he might head back to the Nou Camp later in the summer.

However, Messi and PSG bounced back in style. They had played in Ligue 1 last week with a 5-1 win over Lorient. Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe were all on the score sheet in that game. The trio of superstars once again made sure they gave their best this weekend as they helped their side claim a tremendous 6-1 win over Clermont Foot.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe both scored hat-tricks. Lionel Messi did not score. However, he was able to provide three assists on the night. After the game, a debate was sparked in which some fans mocked him for not getting on the goal scoring charts. On the other hand, a number of football fans believe that the Argentine superstar should not be judged by his goal scoring numbers, but rather his goal contributions as he is the ‘greatest playmaker of all time’.

After becoming one of the greats of football at FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi moved on a free transfer to Paris Saint Germain last summer. The Argentinian forward was expected to link up with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. in an effort to win the Champions League.

Despite being unable to lead the club past the round of 16 stage of the competition, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has helped PSG climb to the top of the Ligue 1 table. He has scored 3 goals and provided 11 assists in 19 league appearances

With the season coming to an end, there were all sorts of rumors related to Paris Saint Germain and their players. Even the manager was expected to be fired. Despite winning the Ligue 1, it looked like the team was falling apart. At such a time, Lionel Messi came to the rescue.

In the beautiful town of Montpellier, however, the players did give the PSG supporters something to be happy about.

Paris Saint Germain were in cruise control, and eased themselves to a victory thanks to Lionel Messi, who scored two goals in quick time. The Argentinian forward was criticized by fans for not performing well enough for the past season. However, he did not disappoint tonight.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring for PSG away at Montpellier before adding a second

The first goal for PSG and Lionel Messi came very early in the game, after a corner was taken short and quick. The ball came into the feet of Messi in the box, and the forward slotted the ball into the bottom corner with a touch of class.

Just ten minutes later, Kylian Mbappe helped Lionel Messi through with a beautiful pass. The Argentinian remained calm in front of the goalkeeper, dribbled past him and scored his second goal of the day.

After blowing two goal leads in their previous games, it was important for the PSG players to remain focused. And that is just what they did. Angel Di Maria’s effort to make it 3-0 got the team into a very comfortable position to win the game.

Halfway through the second half, Kylian Mbappe slotted a penalty home, securing the win for Paris Saint Germain. Despite a hardworking performance from the French striker. it is likely Mbappe will leave Paris to go to Madrid this summer.

Philippe Coutinho To Barcelona; The Signing That Broke The Catalan Giants

Published

By

When Barcelona signed Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool in January 2018, it was heralded to be the missing piece of the Barcelona jigsaw. The one final piece that was needed for the club to compete on all fronts. With the player himself wanting the mover, and the perfect foil for the all-out attack philosophy of the club, everything was pointing to the perfect match between club and player.

Except… it was anything but perfect. Philippe Coutinho never really settled in the club, for a variety of reasons. He never really got going, with the manager constantly shuffling him from one position to another, and then the pressure of the price tag. He was bought for an eye-watering $188m by the club, and yet his output to the club was nothing less than a pittance.

No matter who the manager or what the Catalan giants tried to do, Philippe Coutinho just couldn’t fit in. He was not the player that Barcelona needed at that point and something was just missing. His form was another issue and when that was not the problem, injuries got the better of him.

The Signing Of Philippe Coutinho By Barcelona Is Possibly The Worst Business Deal Of The 21st Century So Far

Unable to find a place in the squad or on the pitch, the club decided to loan him to German giants Bayern Munich. Over there he had a brief resurgence, but even then he could not find his mojo there. The only game where we could see the glimpses of the old Coutinho, was ironically against Barcelona, in “THAT” Champions League game, where they thrashed Bayern 8-2, and Coutinho scored a brace against them. That was his legacy in Barcelona, scoring against his own club while being on their books.

And now, he is on the verge of signing with Aston Villa in a deal worth $20m, a massive massive fall from grace. While he has been great at the Midlands side, playing with freedom last seen in Liverpool, this is a far cry from the player that he used to be. It was a deal that literally broke Barcelona financially and the fans would rue the day they signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

How the mighty have fallen!!
