Manchester United News: United’s former captain Gary Neville slammed his team, calling them the legendary club’s ‘worst side in 42 years.’

The Red Devils lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield yesterday. Liverpool dominated thanks to two goals from Mohamed Salah and one goal apiece from Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane.

Hosts Luis Diaz scored for Liverpool in the fifth minute of the game, giving them an early lead. In the 22nd minute, Mohamed Salah gave his team a 2-0 lead.

When the game resumed after the break, the hosts had totally dominated the proceedings, with Sadio Mane scoring in the 68th minute. Salah then put the icing on the cake by scoring his second goal of the night in the 85th minute, giving Liverpool a 4-0 victory.

Gary Neville didn’t budge while talking about the club’s downfall over the years. He clearly stated that Liverpool was far ahead of United in every part of the field.

The United legend lauded Hannibal Mejbri for putting up a fight against Liverpool. He also added that the team is ‘finished and broken’ for the season.

Also, the club has hit a 42-year low and Neville revealed his words through SkySports. And, he said: “Man Utd were a million miles away from that Liverpool team in every department. On and off the pitch. It was a sobering evening.

We expected it. Not one Man Utd fan came here with any hope whatsoever. That team has got nothing.

“There are some decent players out on that pitch and some talent. I cannot explain how it’s gone from what would be slightly promising at the end of last season to finishing second.”

I know they lost in the Europa League final which was a bad one – to the point where we are today which is an all-time low in my 42 years of watching United. I’ve never seen it as bad as that.”

Manchester United’s Recruitment Strategy Worsened The Status Of The Club

Gary Neville also blamed the club’s recruitment strategy of handing the power to the players. Currently, the manager looks helpless with the players at his disposal.

Ralf Rangnick has been unable to improve the squad with players not showing any guilt. Even in the past, players like Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba have made the managers look lowly in front of their status at the club.

Neville has hit out at this decision to make the players more valuable than the manager. He said: “Coming to the recruitment side, what they’ve done over last 10 years. What United has done is bring players in with piano introductions like Sanchez or Pogba. They’ve elevated the player above the manager at the football club.”

Failed recruitments have occurred due to negligence of the backroom staff. Two major scouts have already left the club, giving room for improvement.

As things stand, incoming manager Erik Ten Hag has a bigger role in preventing such a transfer dilemma. Rangnick will also have the responsibility of supporting the club’s long-term goals.

The Gunners In Tough Race To Sign Weston McKennie

Arsenal Transfer News: In the next summer transfer window, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur might be prepared to make an offer of forty million euros to Juventus to acquire Weston McKennie’s services

Arsenal Transfer News: It has been reported by Tutto Juve that the Premier League is showing a significant amount of interest in Juventus and United States Men’s National Team midfielder Weston McKennie

There are rumors that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are all interested in the 23-year-old player. All three teams are prepared to pay a total of €40 million to get his services.

After relocating to Germany at a relatively early age from the United States, McKennie was able to advance quickly via the FC Schalke 04 development program.

The midfielder rose through the ranks to become a regular member of the first squad for the German giants. He has since established himself as one of the most intriguing young prospects in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal Transfer News: Struggle under Allegri

Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners In Tough Race To Sign Weston McKennie

In the summer of 2020, Juventus expressed interest in acquiring McKennie. They ultimately signed him on a loan deal with the option to make the switch permanent.

The 23-year-old was one of the few bright spots for the Italian giants during a lackluster season in 2020/21 led by Andrea Pirlo. This led Bianconeri to use their right to make the permanent purchase clause a part of the contract.

However, McKennie has struggled to get regular playing time with Massimiliano Allegri’s team throughout this current campaign. He has only played for Juventus in a total of 28 matches across all competitions. The 23-year-old has been out since February due to an injury.

He has only appeared in 28 of those matches. Even so, the Turin giants have not closed the door on the possibility of moving him during the summer transfer window. Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham are all interested in purchasing him.

Arsenal’s interest in the past

There were rumors that Arsenal was interested in signing McKennie in the past. It seems that interest has been reignited in him as a result of Mikel Arteta’s desire to improve the quality of his midfield. Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have both established themselves as regular starters for the Gunners.

But beyond those two, there is not a lot of quality depth. While Albert Sambi Lokonga is still adjusting to the physical requirements of English football, Mohamed Elneny’s contract will be up for renewal in the following month.

Therefore, the acquisition of a new midfielder is at the top of Arsenal’s priority list. McKennie has emerged as a potential target for the club. Arthur Melo, McKennie’s colleague at Juventus, is also on the radars of the north London side.

Race with Tottenham Hotspur

However, they will have to compete with archrivals Tottenham Hotspur, who have also shown a long-standing interest in McKennie. This will make it difficult for them to sign McKennie.

Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, and Harry Winks are all expected to be allowed to leave the club permanently. It means that there will be space on the roster for a new midfielder.

And Tottenham director Fabio Paratici is familiar with McKennie on a personal level since he was the one who brought him to Juventus a few years ago. The Italian is now lobbying for McKennie to join Tottenham.

They are looking to bolster their team in all parts of the field in preparation for a possible push for a top-six finish in the next season. So, McKennie is one of the players they have their sights set on.

The 23-year-old player has the potential to serve as a replacement for Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes. Both of them have been outstanding for the Magpies thus far this year.

According to the report, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham are all considering making a bid of €40 million for McKennie’s signature. These clubs see him as a smart investment. They have the financial resources to pay his wages without any problems. It is yet unknown whether or not they will make a formal offer to the USMNT player.

The match will be available for the viewers on the Star Network. It will also be streamed LIVE on Jio TV and on the Disney+ Hotstar application.

LIV vs WOL Live: Match Preview

It is potentially the most difficult game for the Reds in their daring pursuit of the quadruple. They have already secured two trophies the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. However, the final game of the season will be difficult as the destiny of the title is not in their hands.

Liverpool will need help from their former beloved hero Steven Gerrard. The Englishman is now the manager at Aston Villa and they face Manchester City in the final defeat. Even if the Villains succeed in getting a draw, the Reds will have a shot at the title.

However, Wolves can’t be underestimated as well. In comparison to Aston Villa, they are far more likely to get something from Anfield. They have already beaten Tottenham Hotspur while Chelsea managed only a draw in two meetings this season. Thus in the grand scheme of plans, the Reds must do their job of winning at home.

LIV vs WOL Live: Squad News

Liverpool

It is not clear whether Jurgen Klopp will risk Mohammad Salah and Virgil Van Dijk ahead of the game. While Fabinho and Joe Gomez both have been ruled out for the game.

Wolves

The away side will be without the trio of Max Kilman, Romain Saiss and Nelson Semedo.

Head to Head

Jurgen Klopp vs Bruno Lage

The German and the Portuguese have been in opposite dugouts only once. The Liverpool manager emerged victorious from that game.

LIV vs WOL Live: Players to watch out for

Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

Although Luis Diaz has been in the headlines for his performances but Mane will be the key player in this game. Mo Salah might not be available, while Diaz still needs to work on his finishing. In such a situation the Reds will need goals and Mane will be the best outlet for them to get the goals.

Joao Moutinho (Wolves)

The experienced Portuguese will have to navigate his side in the midfield. The home side will press in packs to win the ball higher up the pitch. In such tight spaces, Moutinho will have to find his teammates in spaces. Also due to his seniority, other players will also be looking toward him for inspiration.
