Fans divided over Ralf Rangnick’s war of words with Anthony Martial – Man United News And Transfer News

Published

Manchester United fans have been reacting to the war of words that has broken out between manager Ralf Rangnick and forward Anthony Martial.

Martial has been absent from the matchday squad for some time and his agent announced in early December that he wanted to leave the club in January to get more game time.

With no deal looking close, the situation would appear to have escalated and after yesterday’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa, Rangnick claimed that Martial had refused to join the matchday squad.

The comments sparked a response on Instagram from the Frenchman late last night, who said ‘I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.

‘I’ve been here for seven years and I never disrespected and will never disrespect the club and the fans.’

Rangnick’s public discussion of private matters with players is becoming more regular. At the pre-match press conference he also criticised Marcus Rashford, saying that the player had ‘room for improvement’.

Fans have been divided in their response to the Martial spat. Some believe Rangnick and think he is right to have named and shamed the 26-year-old, while others believe Martial or think that it should have been handled behind closed doors.

Some of those in support of the manager said:

‘So Ole lied about Martial being hurt and now RR lied about Martial refusing to travel? I think I’ll stick on the side of Ole and RR until evidence is presented.’

‘Can’t see Ralf lying, I think Martial jus trying to duck the heat.’

‘[Would] the ‘manager’ of United speak out in front of the press, on camera, and blatantly lie about a player who clearly doesn’t want to be on the bench and is looking for a move? Not buying it, Martial covering his tracks here.’

‘Martial was exposed heavily by Rangnick and now he’s trying to reduce the damage. No way Rangnick would make a statement like that publicly if it wasn’t true.’

‘It’s hard to believe a footballer nowadays … It’s all PR. Martial never looks like he’s 100% committed. I may be wrong, but him and Pogba seem more like mercenaries to me.’

‘Hhhm who should I believe? [A] guy who’s walked around the pitch for two years and made it clear he wants to leave? Or the new manager trying to restore some order to this out-of-hand team?’

‘Call them out one by one, this tendency of keeping them happy and defending them should stop..at the end of the day they are all average.’

Some of those who disagreed with the manager’s comments said:

‘You want a player to keep quiet and watch his manager tell the media that he didn’t want to be in the match day squad? Come on, Martial has been at the club for seven years. The manager got it wrong.’

‘Why is Rangnick sabotaging our boy like this? It’s toxic man, not a good look for the player and the club.’

‘Why does he need to explain himself? He wants to leave due to … not being played so why would he refuse to play? It doesn’t make sense.’

‘Ralf cannot even steady the ship he was as appointed for…man doesn’t want to give other players chances.’

‘German nerd is gonna have to hold it.’

‘We’re actually going to have to sack an interim manager…’

Whatever the case, the war of words has certainly upped the ante as far as a January departure for the Frenchman is concerned. Or, as one fan put it, ‘What Marital has done is smart. It’s already well known that he wants to leave, but it’s seemed unlikely that it would happen.

‘Martial knows full well that creating tension like this would increase the chances of him leaving in January.’

Man Utd could pay Anthony Martial an eight-figure sum to never play for them again

Manchester United News: According to reports, Manchester United is considering paying Anthony Martial £12.5 million to never play for them again.

The 26-year-old has spent the second half of the season on loan at Sevilla. He has only one goal in 11 games due to a combination of bad form and injury.

Old Trafford officials are debating whether to pay out the final two years of Martial’s contract. It will allow him to become a free agent since the Spanish club has not ruled out a permanent move.

Sevilla cannot afford the Frenchman’s £240,000-a-week wages, but the Sun claims that a compromise might be reached if the LaLiga club can secure his arrival on a free transfer.

Since joining Julen Lopetegui’s team in January, United has covered 60% of Martial’s wage, and he would earn £25 million if he stayed at the club until 2024.

Having paid £36 million for his talents as a youngster in 2015, United is willing to take a loss on the Frenchman. Given his poor performance in Sevilla, new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is unlikely to see Martial as a long-term player.

Meanwhile, Sevilla sporting director Monchi has left the possibility of the forward staying permanently open. “His transfer was less expensive than you may assume,” he told Radio Sevilla, “But it’s still a big risk, only six or seven million euros.”

Unfortunately, Martial has been injured most of the time since his arrival. That makes it very difficult to assess Martial’s performance. I won’t say anything just yet but of course, we must observe. I am not dismissing his continuity.”

According to AS, Lopetegui remarked on his loanee’s problems, “This is elite football. People are free to express themselves as they feel.” I need to help him become the best version of himself. He must do his part and follow our instructions.”

What did Martial have to say about it?

Martial has revealed that his life has been complicated recently and has spoken to ABC Sevilla about it. Sport Witness quoted the 30-cap France international as stating, “I find it very tough to be able to continue at Sevilla.” “Right now, I’m not concerned about it.”

“I came prepared because I knew it would be six months before I had to return to Manchester United. I’m ecstatic at the thought of joining a new club, especially one as large as Sevilla, and regaining some playing time.”

“If we can finish in the top four, we’ll have achieved our goal. I’ll be grateful to the fans, who have been incredibly supportive of me since I arrived.”

Manchester United have a “deal sweetner” as they look to sign Harry Kane

Harry Kane has been in Manchester United’s sights for the past few seasons. But the Red Devils are now looking to add Antony Martial in the transfer deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United went on a transfer spree in the summer. The Red Devils added Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to their ranks. But this has not improved their situation as much as the fans would have expected.

The forwards have failed to gel as per the tactics of both Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Owing to this, United are set to end the 2021/22 season without winning any trophies.

With a new manager coming in next season, the rumours surrounding Harry Kane have again come to light. Hence the Tottenham Hotspur striker could finally be wearing the United jersey in the 2022/23 season.

As per the Mirror, Manchester United have set their sights on Harry Kane once again. The Red Devils have also recognized a “deal sweetener” which could eventually help the club get the player.

Edinson Cavani looks set to move on from the club in the summer. To add to this, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future could also depend on United’s qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Hence the Red Devils have reportedly made Harry Kane their primary attacking target in the summer. To make the deal more favourable, Manchester United could swap Anthony Martial for the England captain.

Tottenham Hotspur have been on the lookout for a winger themselves. Owing to this the Spurs wanted to sign Adama Traore in the summer. But the deal eventually failed to materialize and the Spaniard moved to Barcelona.

Anthony Martial is versatile and could play both as a number nine and on the wings. The Frenchman was unhappy at Manchester United and hence he moved to LaLiga side Sevilla on a loan in January. Hence he could be willing to move to North London.

Manchester United understand that signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur could cost more than £100 million. Hence the Red Devils are looking to use the 26-year-old Frenchman as a makeweight in this mega-deal.

Can Mauricio Pochettino be an added bonus for the England captain?

One of the managers who are in the running for the Manchester United job is Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has previously worked with Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur. And the striker has played well under Pochettino. Hence, signing Mauricio Pochettino as their manager would further increase Manchester United’s chances of signing the Englishman.

But with Manchester City also interested, the 28-year old striker could choose the Sky Blues as they have a better chance of winning trophies at the moment. Hence it has to be seen what Harry Kane decides to do in the summer.

Juventus look to raid two United superstars in the summer

Manchester United News: Juventus are looking to become an undisputed force once again in Italy. Owing to this, they are looking to sign both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial in the summer.

The Red Devils pulled off a major coup in the summer by re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo. This in turn made Juventus very unstable and the club suffered a horrible start to their 2021/22 Serie A campaign.

The Old Lady did sign Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window. But it has not helped them return to the top just yet. To add to this, The Serie A giants were also eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 stage by Villarreal.

Manchester United is on a similar boat as their Italian counterparts. The signing of Cristiano Ronaldo has not helped as much as the fans hoped. To make things worse, United could realistically miss out on the Champions League next season.

As per the Mirror, Juventus are looking to do a double transfer raid on Manchester United. This would see the Old Lady take both Pogba and Martial away from Old Trafford.

Manchester United signed Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016. The midfielder cost the Red Devils £89m in transfer fee. But it looks like United could lose him on a free transfer.

Paul Pogba’s contract ends in the summer and there is still no news of a contract extension between the club and the player. Owing to this, it is looking likely that the Frenchman would return to his old stomping grounds in Turin.

Anthony Martial on the other hand is currently on loan at Sevilla. The former Monaco star was loaned out after he wanted more playing time. The forward was reportedly not happy at Manchester United.

Anthony Martial has a contract with Manchester United until 2024. It is expected that the Red Devils could ask for a transfer fee between £20-25m for the Frenchman if he decides to leave. But this is significantly lower than the £36m they spent to avail his services in 2015.

Over the years, Paul Pogba has scored 40 goals in 229 appearances for Manchester United. Anthony Martial on the other hand has scored 79 goals in 269 appearances for the Red Devils. Hence, United would be losing out on two long-serving members of the club.

How will United cope with their exit?

Manchester United is expected to make multiple midfield signings in the summer to replace Pogba. Popular names including Declan Rice, Ruben Neves, and Amadou Haidara are on the cards for the Red Devils.

As for their forward options, United does have enough options as of now. But adding another center-forward or a goal-scoring winger in their ranks would surely help the club. The signings will depend on Manchester United’s qualification to the Champions League.
