Dusan Vlahovic’s salary demands emerge as club refuses to give up on striker

Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners are in hot pursuit to land Dusan Vlahovic in January. But signing the Fiorentina striker could put a huge hole in their pockets.

The Gunners were knocked out from the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. The match showed exactly how desperate the North London side is to get a quality striker.

Arsenal started the game with Edward Nketiah as their attacker, and Mikel Arteta later brought on Alexandre Lacazette as a second-half substitute. But still, the Gunners didn’t manage to register a single shot on target against the Championship side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the former Arsenal captain, was sidelined from the squad after a “disciplinary breach” in December. His absence has just highlighted the fact that the Gunners would have to sign a quality striker if they are to do well in the coming months.

Arsenal’s chief target is Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal Transfer News: Dusan Vlahovic’s salary demands emerge as the Gunners refuse to give up on the striker

It is not a secret to anyone that Dusan Vlahovic is the main target for Arsenal in the January transfer window. Owing to this, The Gunners have already placed an official bid to Fiorentina for their striker.

But signing Dusan Vlahovic could burn a huge hole in Arsenal’s pockets. As per the Mirror, the Fiorentina striker wants at least £300,000 per week in wages at whichever club he signs for. To add to this, Fiorentina are expecting around £58m in transfer fee to let the striker go.

Putting Vlahovic’s salary into context, Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo earns about £390,000 per week at the club. Hence, if Arsenal are to convince Vlahovic to sign, they would have to break the bank to do so.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the highest-paid Arsenal player at the moment with £250,000 per week. Whereas Thomas Partey and Alexandre Lacazette are next on the list as they earn £200,000 and £183,000 per week, respectively.

Arsenal Transfer News: Vlahovic isn’t too convinced with the Gunners

Though Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic. The same can not be said the other way around. The Serbian striker has reportedly rejected Arsenal’s initial approach, as he wants to wait until the summer to have a better offer.

It is reportedly a priority for Dusan Vlahovic to play the UEFA Champions League consistently. But Arsenal can not offer that to the striker at the moment.

Apart from Arsenal, other Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool, are also monitoring the striker. Even Serie A giant Juventus are said to be interested in him.

Dusan Vlahovic reportedly wants to work with Antonio Conte. But even Tottenham Hotspur can’t guarantee him Champions League football for now. Hence, it has to be seen what decision the striker would make in the coming days.

Kenny tells Arsenal to hand Lacazette new contract

Paddy Kenny has urged Arsenal to give Alexandre Lacazette a new deal because he has been in fine form recently

Lacazette is a man that has been in the headlines alot over the past few months as there has been alot of speculation ion the media that he will not be getting a new contract at the Emirates

The Gunners have banished Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from their first team and have also stripped him of their captaincy, and In his absence, Lacazette has worn the armband and has contributed to the Gunners’ return to form in recent weeks.

Kenny believes he has done enough to earn a new contract and one should be handed to him before it is too late.

He tells Football Insider: “But I think the club should make Lacazette a very attractive offer to stay at the club considering his vital role over the last few weeks.

“He’s a top player, we know this. I don’t think he should have been out of the team in the first place.

“I think a new deal is only fair. He’s out of contract in the summer so that needs to be sorted before it’ too late.”

IcFootballnews View…

Lacazette is a player that only really starts to shine when he is in need of a new contract, and once again, that is happening. He is never going to be a striker that will bang in 20 goals a seasons, and to be honest, he is just taking up space

If he gets that new contract likes Kenny expects, then it will e a shame because it is about time that Arsenal step up their chase to sign a striker that can lead them back into challenging for that Premier League title

Not stick with one that just makes up the numbers

Sevilla FC abandon pursuit for striker

Real Madrid Transfer News: According to a report by the Catalan newspaper El Nacional, Sevilla will not initiate a transfer campaign to sign Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz during the current summer transfer window.

Real Madrid is expected to keep hold of the 28-year-old attacker. He is valued at roughly €15 million by the club. He is expected to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu indefinitely.

Mariano Diaz is presently in his second season at Real Madrid, having joined the club from Lyon in August of last year.

His value has plummeted significantly over the previous three and a half years. He has gone from being a prolific scorer for Lyon to being a backup option for the Merengues.

Real Madrid Transfer News: Mariano’s stats and why is Sevilla interested?

Mariano has made 67 appearances for Real Madrid over his two spells with the club. He has scored 11 goals and provided three assists in the process.

His emotions have boiled over as a consequence of his inconsistency on the field. He may be forced to quit the club this season. Mariano’s plight has not gone ignored. Sevilla is among the teams that have shown an interest in signing him in recent weeks.

Youssef En-Nesyri and Rafa Mir are two of the best attackers in the world. They both play for the Andalusian giants’ first team.

As En-Nesyri will be representing Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations, Sevilla may be forced to enter the transfer market for a striker in the coming months.

Mariano has surfaced as a potential target for Sevilla. His €15 million price tag potentially proving to be an intriguing proposition.

What is Sevilla going to do next?

However, it seems that the LaLiga club has cooled their interest in signing him. It is expected that Sevilla FC would seek other players rather than the out of favour Real Madrid striker.

A different approach will be required by Real Madrid as well to remove Mariano from their books. However, they will face an additional stumbling block in the process of doing so.

However, despite being linked with numerous Premier League teams, including West Ham United, Newcastle United, and Burnley, the 28-year-old attacker prefers to stay in LaLiga until his contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2022.

But no other LaLiga team has shown any interest in signing Mariano, putting Real Madrid and the player in a precarious financial situation.

Los Nervionenses have many other attackers on their radar, including Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette, so they may sign one of them this month.

3 Positions that Mikel Arteta would need to reinforce in January

Arsenal News: The Gunners have had a strong start and are currently in 4th place in the Premier League table. But Mikel Arteta should be looking to bring in reinforcements to maintain their position and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Currently, we see three positions that Arsenal should fill in January. And as per reports, the club management along with technical director Edu is already in talks with potential players.

Arsenal could bring in a striker in January

One of the biggest causes of concern for Arsenal would be their striker position. The Gunners have had a lot of big names that have played in this position. But they could be without a well-versed striker going into the 2022/23 season.

Strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Edward Nketiah are yet to sign an extension with the club. Their contracts expire in January. Owing to this, it is expected that they would be leaving the club.

Former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also been banished from the squad for disciplinary reasons. He has not played for over a month and has not even been allowed to train with the squad. To add to this, his form has also dipped drastically this season.

Owing to this, signing a new striker looks imminent. The North London club has been linked with Dusan Vlahovic and Alvaro Morata in the last few weeks. But nothing has been finalized as of yet.

The Gunners lack depth in central midfield

Another position that the Gunners need to make a priority is the Central midfield position. Owing to the Africa Cup of Nations, the dire need for recruitment has come to the forefront.

Arsenal are left with Granit Xhaka and Albert Lokonga as their central midfielders. Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are on international duty, playing for their respective nations. To add to this, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is expected to leave the club in the coming days.

The Gunners are said to have understood the need for an addition. Hence they have shortlisted Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes as a target in January. It has to be seen if a deal with the Brazilian gets completed in the coming days.

Arsenal need to reinforce their right-back position

Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has made the right-back position his own this season. Tomiyasu has been a revelation and is loved by Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta himself.

His injury against Leeds was met by a cause of concern, but the Japanese made his return against Manchester City on New Year’s Day. Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers are other options, but their future looks bleak.

Owing to this, a right-back signing would add much-needed depth to the squad. There are no rumors about filling this position as of now. But we expect things to pick up as the 2022 summer transfer window gets near.
