Declan Rice

Declan Rice is a must for the Red Devils

Manchester United News: We love a lot of things about football and one of them is a last-minute winning goal. The raw emotion that follows is something that can’t be described.

United’s defensive woes are known to everyone in the world. However, the Red Devils must have been happy with their defensive display against West Ham on Saturday.

Ralf Rangnick should consider himself lucky because of the depth of the squad. The German manager was able to call Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial when the game was heading to a draw. And the reinforcements delivered when it mattered the most.

However, the problem for this United team remains in the midfield. There are not enough chances created for the likes of Mason Greenwood and Cristiano Ronaldo on a weekly basis.

Manchester United News: Rice, an ideal midfielder for United?

Manchester United News: Declan Rice is a must for United in the summer.

United fans are desperate to see a defensive midfielder play for their team. The club has a lot of attacking options, but without a defensive midfielder, the other midfielders can’t play freely.

The club employs a lot of midfielders, but they have similar traits. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay are always given defensive duties, and they fail often.

The club is destined to lose Paul Pogba in the summer window and there’s expected to be a midfield vacancy for someone to fill, preferably a player who has both attacking and defensive qualities.

One player who is on top of the transfer list in that position for Manchester United is Declan Rice. As per Whoscored, Rice’s statistics are phenomenal. The hammers captain is averaging 2.3 tackles per 90 minutes this season. He is also making 1.8 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, and maintaining a 90% pass accuracy.

However, the biggest obstacle in his signing is the price. West Ham United values Rice at £100m. Regardless of all the qualities he possesses, this is an insane transfer fee.

What does Rice have to say?

The England international has been linked to United for a couple of seasons now. But he always refused to make comments about the saga. However, Rice didn’t stop himself from talking about Old Trafford and that can be taken as his indicator for a move.

After the game, Rice said: “I was loving it. Every time I come to Old Trafford; I’ve always said it’s one of my favourite places to play. It’s an amazing stadium,” he said.

In recent times, more players have talked about leaving the club than joining them. United fans must be feeling good about the club after the positive comments from the young midfielder.

The summer transfer window is going to be a busy one for Manchester United. The club is looking for a new manager, a midfielder as well as a striker. Rice might make the move or might not, but his interview is a positive one for the fans of the fallen giants.

Chelsea & City Back Out Of Declan Rice Pursuit

Chelsea Transfer News: According to reports, Chelsea and Manchester City have decided not to pursue Declan Rice. He is a West Ham United player who is also a transfer target for Manchester United.

Chelsea Transfer News: As reported by ESPN, Manchester United have been given a free hand in their pursuit of West Ham United star Declan Rice. Rivals Chelsea and Manchester City are unlikely to pursue the Englishman during the summer transfer window.

Following his promotion to the first team of the Irons in 2017, Rice has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe. The subject of his future is expected to dominate the headlines throughout the forthcoming summer transfer window. Some of the most powerful teams in the Premier League have shown an interest in him in recent months.

The 23-year-old has been in excellent form this season. His outstanding output at both ends of the field has been a big factor in West Ham’s extraordinary journey to the final of the Europa League.

It is his most productive season to date. He has scored five goals and added four assists in 46 games across all competitions this season. Rice has succeeded in a progressing centre midfield position and is having his most prolific season to date.

Chelsea Transfer News: Chelsea And City Back Out Of Declan Rice Pursuit

He has two years remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium. The England international will be eligible as a free agent. According to recent sources, Rice has rejected a new contract offer from the Hammers. He believes that the summer transfer window may be the best moment for him to go on and develop his professional career.

Chelsea Transfer News: What’s the matter?

West Ham may be unable to secure Champions League football for next season via the Europa League. Thus, keeping their star player will be even more difficult. As a result, a three-way struggle for his services between Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea is set to erupt this summer. ESPN reports that the latter two have withdrawn out of the contest. Thus, leaving Manchester United with a clear path to the championship.

With the number of championships won over the previous decade or so, Manchester City has been one of the most successful teams in the Premier League. They would have been a good fit for Rice’s aspirations if he had played for them. He may also have been a good replacement for long-serving lynchpin Fernandinho. He is set to call time on his trophy-laden City career after the season.

Although they have reportedly concentrated all of their efforts on recruiting a world-class striker, according to reports, Erling Haaland is on the verge of joining them at the Etihad Stadium. More than that, Rice is expected to fetch a cost well over the £100 million transfer record established by Jack Grealish’s £100 million move to Manchester City from Aston Villa last summer. The Cityzens are apprehensive of being embroiled in another transfer crisis.

The Transfer saga over?

Chelsea has also shown a long-term interest in Rice. They have been closely monitoring his progress for some time. But their ownership structure makes it difficult for them to meet the Hammers’ asking price.

Furthermore, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are due to leave the club for free this summer. So, manager Thomas Tuchel may prioritise defensive additions above the rest of the team.

So, Manchester United may have a free hand with Rice come summer. It remains to be seen if the Red Devils can convince the West Ham midfielder to buy into Erik ten Hag’s new project at the start of next season, especially given the fact that they are on course to finish outside the top four.

Should Declan Rice Replace Fernandinho at City?

Manchester City News: Fernandinho is reportedly leaving the Sky Blues at the end of the season. Hence would West Ham United’s Declan Rice be a good replacement for the departing midfielder?

Fernandinho clarified earlier in the month that he would be returning to Brazil to continue his career. The City legend announced his decision in a press conference and even caught Pep Guardiola off guard.

Having joined Manchester City in 2013, Fernandinho will surely depart the club as a legend. The City captain has made 376 appearances for his club in all competitions. In this, the Brazilian has also scored 26 goals for the Sky Blues.

Fernandinho has already helped the club win four Premier League titles and an FA Cup title among his various other trophies. With the 2021/22 season still far from over, the midfielder would certainly be hoping to add the Champions League and another Premier League title to his collection.

Manchester City News: West Ham United captain Declan Rice has been one of the most in-form players in the last two seasons. Hence, it would make sense for the Sky Blues to bid for the midfielder in the summer.

Declan Rice has risen to become one of the best players in the Premier League at the moment. The 23-year-old has garnered the applause of multiple Premier League managers as well as the England national team manager Gareth Southgate.

The Defensive midfielder has played 40+ games in multiple competitions for West Ham United this season. To add to this, Rice has also helped the Hammers into the Europa League semi-finals this season. The London-based club is one of the favourites to win the tournament this season!

But even though he is “happy”, Declan Rice may have signaled to the club that he wants to leave soon. The West Ham captain has decided not to extend his contract with the club. Hence, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are interested in signing the player.

But according to the West Ham United manager David Moyes, “Signing Declan Rice will not be cheap”. The Hammers have reportedly kept a transfer price of £150 million for the midfielder and hence they will reject anything below the asking price.

Owing to this, any club that signs Declan Rice would have to break the British Transfer Record. Manchester City are capable of this as they set the record last season by signing Jack Grealish for £100m from Aston Villa.

Here’s the Verdict!

Manchester City News: Yes, Declan Rice would be a fantastic replacement for Fernandinho. But City do have Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri for now and don’t need an “immediate signing”. To add to this, The asking price for the West Ham Captain is too high and the club don’t want to let him go for now.

The Sky Blues faced the same with Harry Kane last season and wasted the entire transfer window waiting for the player. Hence it would be best if Pep Guardiola would not focus on Declan Rice for now.

Kenny claims that Rice would snub Man United move

Declan Rice could turn down Man United to stay at West Ham if the club win the Europa League this season, according to Paddy Kenny.

Ever since breaking into West Ham’s first-team in 2017, Rice has become the club’s standout asset, and has developed into one of the very best defensive midfielders in the game right now

His performances for both club and country has led to speculation that the likes of Man United and Chelsea are very much keen on a transfer deal, despite the rumours that there is a £150 million price tag on his head.

However, he is focusing on helping the Hammers try to win a European trophy as the club are into the semi-finals of the Europa League after defeating Lyon 3-0 on Thursday night with the help of a goal from Rice who was seen kissing the West Ham badge as he celebrated.

And amid all the speculation that he could leave in the summer, Kenny has opened up and suggested that the Englishman will be happy to stay at the club should they win that European trophy by the end of the season.

Speaking to Football Insider, Kenny said: ‘He is West Ham through and through and I think it comes down to whether the club wants to let him go.

‘There are a lot of factors in a transfer. If West Ham get into the Champions League through winning the Europa League then I can see him staying.

‘Why would he want to go somewhere else? He could easily have another year at the club.

‘They can then maybe get a few more players in, make themselves stronger and then see what happens.

‘He wants to play in the Champions League, there is no reason West Ham can’t be there next season.’

IcFootballnews View…

Right now there is not much difference between Man United and West Ham, so making a move to Old Trafford right now would not make any sense.

They are both challenging for the same spots in the League and the Hammers have a chance to become European Champions, so if that does happen, then yes, he will stay
