Chelsea get closure as Digne agrees to sign with Aston Villa

Published

on

Aston Villa have now agreed a deal in the region of around £25million to sign Chelsea linked Lucas Digne, with Anwar El Ghazi going the other way, according to Sky Sports.

There has been alot of rumours in the media over the past few weeks all suggesting that Digne has become a top target for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel after he lost Ben Chilwell for the rest of the season to injury.

Digne is regarded as one of the finest left-backs in the Premier League and there are many out there that firmly believe that he is now ready to test himself at the highest level with one of the big clubs.

Reports have suggested that Chelsea were eying up a deal until the end of the season, and then will decide if they will make the move a permanent one, with a fee of around £27 million the asking price

However, the Blues were reportedly taking too long to make a decision on a possible deal for Digne, and now it seems that he is on his way to join Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa for the next few seasons.

Rob Dorsett’s latest tweet on the situation that now will give Chelsea some closure is: ‘EXCL: avfc have now agreed a fee with efc for left back Lucas Digne.

‘Deal worth up to £25m.

‘Several days of negotiations, in which Villa have beaten off interest from cfc, whufc and nufc.

‘Digne is due in Birmingham later today to undergo a medical.

‘Big window for Villa.’

This is a massivce move from Villa and fans can be getting very excited about the rest of the season, Digne is a quality left-back. Chelsea must have a back-up plan because they need to add another defender to that back-line, but are not making moves

They have missed out on Digne, they really have

Would Chelsea fans welcome the signing of United star Paul Pogba?

Published

Chelsea should sign Paul Pogba to partner N’Golo Kante in midfield, according to former England striker Darren Bent, but would fans welcome the man?

There are only a few days in the transfer window and Thomas Tuchel will be looking to get some deals done so he can improve of his chances of winning some silverware by the end of the season

However, despite all the speculation, despite all the rumours, despite all the players and despite the fact Tuchel has admitted he wanted to improve his squad, Chelsea have done no business so far this window.

Pogba is in the final six months of his contract with Manchester United, and is set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, but there is some rumours that the Frenchman could leave this January window.

And with Chelsea looking to add to that midfield, Bent believes that if Ngolo Kante and Pogba were to play alongside each other at Chelsea it may help the mercurial Frenchman perform consistently at club level.

Bent told talkSPORT: “When Paul Pogba plays alongside Kante he looks like a completely different player, if they [Chelsea] were to sign him…wow.”

Together they’ve won the World Cup and the Nations League for France, but it remains to be seen if the strength of the international collaborations would be enough to convince the Blues to sign the United star.

Pogba is a player that has all the talent in the world and would thrive at Chelsea, but if and when he does leave United, it will surely be for the likes of Real Madrid or Juventus, two clubs that are keen on his services

However, Tuchel knows that Pogba needs alot of work and that is not what he wants, plus the fans would surely become too frustrated at the fact that he is unable to perform on a consistent basis

He is world class yes, but anybody would be in that French team

Pulisic Gakpo and Pogba all feature in Chelsea roundup

Pulisic sends message, Gakpo sent transfer message and Chelsea told to sign Pogba in Chelsea roundup…

Christian Pulisic has opened up on his struggles at Chelsea amid rumours that he could be leaving the club at the end of the season

Pulisic became the most expensive American player in history when he completed a £58m move to Chelsea in the summer of 2019 after establishing himself as one of the best and brightest young talents in the game

However, despite glimpses of his brilliance, he has not been able to meet the expectations that have been placed on his head, and he is still battling to cement a place in the first team amid competition from the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

That has obviously led to alot of speculation in the media that he could be leaving the club at the end of the season, and amid all of those rumours, he has opened up on his struggles at the club

‘It is tough. I haven’t always been playing in the positions I want to play in,’ Pulisic told NBC Sports

‘But I think it is a good quality to be versatile and able to play in all kinds of positions and have different strengths on the pitch.

‘I’ve learned a lot and I’m ready to hopefully be in a spot over the next few games that I’m more comfortable in.’

Asked how his form for Chelsea impacts on his performances for USMNT, Pulisic added: ‘It doesn’t affect me too much coming in to US camps.

‘I am ready when I come in here and to do whatever I can to come to help this team so I’m not thinking about that.

‘Obviously it has been up and down this year, for sure. Not exactly where I want to be and how I want things to be right now.

‘I’m just going to keep going and it doesn’t affect me when I come here. So I am excited to be here.’

The man known as ‘Captain America’ has all the potential in the world and just needs a manager that will believe in his quality. He may not be at the top of his game but Chelsea would be fools to let him leave

PSV’s Cody Gakpo has emerged as an Chelsea transfer target, and he has been warned about leaving the Dutch giants.

The 22-year-old has been in excellent form for the Dutch giants this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in just 28 games.

And reports in the media have claimed that Chelsea are considering him to add a bit more quality in the attack, especially as Thomas Tuchel has not been impressed with the lack of goals his side have scored this season

However, despite all the speculation linking the talented young man about a move, Dutch legend Marco van Basten has warned the attacker not to jump ship and remain in the Eredivisie.

He told Voetbal4U, via Sport Witness: “He has been in the Eredivisie for a year now, you have to have a basis to succeed abroad. That is three, four years in the Netherlands.

“Then you are just a bit stronger, a bit better prepared for the higher level abroad – because it all goes much harder and faster. But nowadays, they all want to leave after one year.

“The sooner you leave, the greater the chance of not succeeding. If you do not succeed in those two, three years, then you go to another club that is less. Then your career is going to look very nasty.”

Look, if Chelsea do decide to make a move and make a serious offer to the Dutch giants, it would be very hard for Gakpo to turn down such a move to a club that is one of the biggest in Europe.

Chelsea are constantly winning titles and playing Champions League football, they would be hard to turn down.

But on the other hand, he may struggle to get the kind of game time that he needs to develop, and that is the biggest risk

Conte Keen to Reunite With 28-Year-Old Chelsea Ace if Star Striker Leaves

Published

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Manager Antonio Conte is reportedly considering a move for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku if talisman Harry Kane leaves the club soon.

Lukaku arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer, after his performance at Inter Milan inspired Chelsea to spend big money on him. The striker returned to the Blues ten years later. This was after signing as a teenage prodigy for the club for a record transfer fee.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Conte and Lukaku

Antonio Conte is rumoured to be considering a reunion with Lukaku. He was also his ace striker at Inter Milan during their time together.

The Belgian striker played an important role in the Nerazzurri’s first Serie A triumph in eleven years. At Stamford Bridge, though, he has been unable to reproduce the same results.

Lukaku has had a difficult start to his second spell at Chelsea. Moreover, he has also missed the cutting edge he displayed at San Siro.

The Belgium international’s appearance on Sky Italia at an inopportune time did him no favours. Thomas Tuchel dropped him from the team as a result of his statements.

Meanwhile, there is growing anxiety in north London. Kane could depart at the end of the season if Spurs don’t win any trophy under Conte. The Italian was brought in to bring trophies. The Spurs manager has an amazing track record of winning wherever he goes.

Lukaku’s recent “time-bomb” controversy

Despite assurances to the contrary, Carragher says that Lukaku has not progressed as a player since he was at Old Trafford.

Honestly, Romelu Lukaku is no different in any way than how he was playing in Manchester a few years ago. He is still a time-bomb and his current club Chelsea could lose its temper anytime with the star player.

Lukaku signed with Chelsea on the consensus was that he was now different than the one who left Manchester United. Six months later, there is just one valid takeaway from his comeback to Stamford Bridge. And that is not him.

All the discussion about how a couple of years working with Antonio Conte, this weekend’s opponent, has proved something. It has indeed proved Lukaku’s tactical game as a premature.

Lukaku has not talked publicly about his future at Stamford Bridge. However, it has been suggested that Conte would welcome a reunion if he loses the English captain.

Chelsea has the upper hand in any discussions due to the fact that the 28-year-old has only recently relocated to London.
